Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: Try me
Eveline couldn’t utter a single word as her mind was still struck by the words Gabriel claimed regarding her.
‘His business? What does the term “his business” mean? Am I something he could possess?’ The thought itself raised the anger in Eveline’s heart and her expression darkened.
“Gabriel, you do not even own me, let alone call my life your business,” Eveline snapped, offended at how easily he claimed her life as his.
Gabriel tightened his jaw, seeing how Eveline misunderstood him once more. He just felt like slamming his head against the wall to let her know he was worried about her taking a chance on anything that might get her into trouble. But no matter how much he bleeds, she will only blame him for everything.
Ignoring her words, he decided to focus on continuing the session.
Eveline, too, didn’t drag the conversation much when Gabriel had a change of thought and she silently continued to study.

Stefan had an extremely demanding day due to the workload Ella assigned him. He felt like she was taking some kind of revenge on him by making him work like a cow.
He was sorry to have annoyed her to the point where she was now criticizing him for every error he made.
“Why don’t we just go home? I am exhausted.” Stefan whined like a child who was being forcefully asked to study without his will.
“Were you not told that assistants leave after the boss departs? So until your father decides to leave, we will be working with him,” Ella sighed, glancing at the boy through her glasses. Stefan was taken aback by her statement.
“What is that related to me? I am just an intern,” Stefan said, expressing his annoyance at her remarks.
“Yes and soon to be the CEO,” she remarked sarcastically.
Stefan was unaware of how long he would be in the office, but by now he was so tired that he had to leave.
Ella sighed again, glancing at his almost-crying face, and asked, “Would you like to join me for the coffee?”
Stefan stared at her with a frown before giving her a nod and soon they walked towards the eatery.
Ella made two black coffees for them and carried them towards the balcony where Stefan stood.
“Your coffee is here,” she said, passing him one cup while keeping the other for herself. She then turned to face the building’s rooftop view of the night sky.
Stefan took a sip from the cup and gulped hard,” Why is there no sugar in it?” he said tasting the bitter taste taking over his buds.
“Who uses sugar in black coffee?” Ella questioned, glaring at him strangely.
“I do. I like my black coffee sweet,” said Stefan.
Ella looked at Stefan in disbelief. Although she was aware that Stefan was a spoilt child who enjoyed life, she was surprised that the twenty-four-year-old would behave in such a childlike manner when he asked for a sweet coffee.
“Are you always whining about little things like this? No wonder the boss asked me to pay extra attention to you,” she remarked, catching Stefan off guard.
“Dad told you that about me?” Stefan asked, doubtfully.
Ella simply shrugged in response and continued to drink her coffee.
“The dark coffee will enable you to concentrate for a brief period,” she remarked, acknowledging his fatigue.
Stefan looked at her thoughtfully before resuming his drink. Though he loathed the bitter taste, he simply gulped it in one go.
Ella couldn’t help but chuckle at his cute reaction.

“By the way, do you always get drunk like that? You were so wasted, you did not even realize who you were going with,” Stefan remarked, which caused Ella to halt her action and shoot a hard look at him.
“You looked cute, though,” he continued, provoking her once more.
Ella did not want to talk about that night in particular, but Stefan did not seem to be able to stop talking about it.
Stefan chuckled when Ella remained silent. He knew she was pissed but the adorable frown she gave him in return reminded him of her cute blabbering that night.
She kept laughing at her dumb jokes even though she was intoxicated, which made the evening somewhat unforgettable.
Stefan had never been so intrigued by someone’s drunk talk, but the one he got invested in that night was none other than Ella Stewart, his father’s perfect secretary.
“You know if you weren’t by boss’s son I would have punched right in your face.” Ella finally said as she couldn’t take hold of his playful gaze lingering on her.
Ella recalled clearly that she and Stefan didn’t sleep because she woke up fully dressed, but when the memories of her drunkard talk came crashing down her mind, she felt like digging a hole for herself.
What made her feel even more ashamed was that Stefan was the one she had previously confided in.
“I don’t mind getting punched by such a beautiful girl, but make sure it isn’t hard enough to break any bone on my face” Stefan cheekily responded making Ella even more angry.
“You know that I am two years older than you are. Moreover, flirting with me could get you into serious trouble because I am your boss. Do you want to put in extra hours of work right away?” With a gentle, playful smile on her face, she issued a warning.
Stefan was taken aback by the way Ella looked at him, but then her words struck his mind, and he freaked.
“No way, you won’t do that to me,” he awkwardly smiled.
“Try me,” she uttered, standing by her declaration.
Stefan was shocked that his joke would backfire on him, but instead of getting scared anymore, he slowly took a step closer to Ella and whispered.
“Then assure me that it will be as fascinating as it was that evening.”
Ella’s lips parted at the sight of his attractive face getting closer to her, and she froze as his hot breath touched her face, making it hard for her to look away.
