Chapter 54: Are you Mrs. Susan Ambrose
“Man, you are being too obvious,” Stefan muttered as he watched Gabriel poke holes in Eveline and Alex. “Put them out of your sight already.”
“Why does she keep pushing my buttons? Despite my warnings to the contrary, she continues to irritate me by being around him,” he muttered through his gritting teeth.
Stefan couldn’t help but smile standing by his side. It was amusing to watch Gabriel become envious of Eveline and Alex’s relationship, but should not he act more responsibly if he already understood the reason behind her actions?
“I asked you something? Did you get it” Gabriel’s serious tone withdrew Stefan from his thought and he nodded in agreement.
“Yes, I did, and believe me, Alex is exactly what you expect him to be—a psychopath. I found out that his parents have been going to a physicist for assistance regarding his violent behavior and believe me, it’s shocking to see him behave around Eveline.”
When Gabriel heard Stefan’s words, he scowled and turned to look at Eveline, who was grinning at Alex.
“You know it will be a threat if he happens to come across what Eveline is trying to do. He continued, pressing his words more firmly this time. “People like him snap easily; even his reports suggest the same.”
Gabriel clenches his teeth, finding every word that comes out of Stefan’s mouth to be irritating.
“We need to keep check on them. I shall not allow Eveline to put herself in danger,” Gabriel uttered with conviction.
Stefan glanced at his friend, the corner of his lips curling into an amusing grin.
“Are you certain you do not feel anything for her? If not, allow me to inform your friend that you are lying considering how you are killing Alex with your gaze.” Stefan said, seizing his scowling face at him.
“I take it that you kissed Eveline and she slapped you back, too?” Stefan asked with such excitement that Gabriel became agitated.
“W-What are you talking about?” Shielding his embarrassed expression, Gabriel refuses to acknowledge his words.
“Gabby, you know it was not just the lipstick that left a mark on your lips, but the fingerprints on your cheek.” Stefan addressed Gabriel, causing his eyes to widen.
Gabriel didn’t realize Stefan was such a keen observer to even sense the slightest thing in him.
“It was a mistake,” Gabriel defended himself, restating what Eveline had said to him the day before.
Gabriel had never experienced the rush of feelings that accompanied being ashamed of what he did, but hearing his friend mock him nonchalantly for it made him want to run.
Stefan chuckled at Gabriel’s flustered face. He knew his friend was still dealing with the emotions he gradually developed for Eveline. How could someone who rarely expresses himself reveal the depths of his feelings, particularly for the girl who occupies his thoughts all the time?
The only issue was that he did not know enough to recognize it.
Gabriel’s frown deepened when he saw Stefan laughing at his response.
“What? You don’t believe me?” he asked, raising his brow in question.
Stefan shook his head, suppressing a smile. “Obviously, I do, but if you continue to deny your emotions, my friend, someone else will come and take Eveline away from you,” he uttered, making his expression worse.
Gabriel was furious to see Eveline and Alex together, and Stefan’s comments were also not helping him.
When he subtly revealed to Eveline his greatest secret—which nobody knew about—last night, she did not buy it and left.
Despite his best efforts to persuade her of his truth, Eveline would simply turn away, making it difficult for him to win her over.
‘I will not let anyone take her away from me,’ Gabriel vowed to himself, refusing to let Stefan’s remarks undermine his self-assurance in the slightest.

Tiffany took off her shirt slowly while standing in front of the bathroom mirror and looked closely at the mark, which seemed much more noticeable.
She was reminded of yesterday’s horrible incident by the bruise Alex gave her, but she was more irritated by the fact that she could not convince him of her point.

Eveline was so cunning to let Alex quickly become her slave that he refused to believe her. But she wasn’t going to back off after coming across the lies that she happened to speak right in her face.
“Alex, just wait and see how I make you regret hurting me,” Tiffany said, her fingers pressing firmly against her bruised skin as fury overcame reason.
“I will reveal Eveline’s true face and then watch your cry in misery,” she added.
Tiffany’s deadpan eyes fluttered at the pain but she didn’t whine. She could not adequately convey how strong her determination was, but she knew that in order to let Alex see Eveline’s true face, she had to play dirty.
Tiffany hurried to take a shower and get dressed. After putting cream on her skin, she wrapped her scarf around her neck and left her room.
Instinctively her eyes fell on the couch and she was surprised not to find her father anywhere.
She looked around for her mother, but she could not find her anywhere, and a deep frown marked her face.
“What is wrong, why are not they both at home?” she muttered confused by the emptiness when suddenly the door to their house opened and Susan walked inside.
“Okay, let me know if you find him anywhere,” she said on the call before hanging up and turning to look at clueless Tiffany.
“What’s the matter? Why do you sound so depressed and where is your husband?” She asked casually, not even acknowledging Jacob as her father.
“Your father has not been home since last night,” Susan said, sighing and pressing her temple nervously.
Tiffany asked, her expression darkening at her answer, “Where did he go this time? I hope he does not cause us any more trouble,” she muttered, feeling an odd feeling seep into her heart.
Susan was silently praying that misfortune would come upon them when the doorbell rang. She hurried to answer it, thinking it would be Jacob, but her hopes were dashed when she saw a police officer standing there.
“Are you Mrs. Susan Ambrose?” the uniformed man asked, making Tiffany and Susan cringe at his intimidating appearance.
“Yes, that’s me,” she quickly responded.
“You are being called to the police station.” he said leaving both Tiffany and Susan stunned.
