Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 58
Chapter 58: I won’t betray you
“Where is brother Stefan? Why didn’t I see him for a whole day?” Eveline asked as she settled into the car.
Eveline was confused as she didn’t happen to see Stefan around when Daniel said, “Don’t you know he had taken the internship and is working at Uncle Marcus Company?”
“When did that happen and how come he never told me about that?” Eveline muttered with a pout.
“That is because you are too busy making new friends,” Gabriel responded with a lazy yet piercing stare making sure Eveline realized what he meant.
Eveline felt the impulse to argue back, but she chose not to let go of the thought of losing her temper over his pointless remark. Instead, she continued to talk to Daniel as though the person sitting next to her did not exist until they got home.
Eveline strolled towards her room, ignoring the man walking behind her, but Gabriel blocked her path and glared at her before she could enter.
“Eveline, I will not say it again. Whom were you speaking with and why were you smiling?” Gabriel inquired, his tone revealing his frustration.
“I told you it’s personal and you don’t have to know anything about it.” Eveline moved Gabriel out of her way but before she could lock the door, he shoved her inside, and the door closed.
“Come on, tell me who you are talking to—there is nothing personal about your life that you have not shared with me. Was it Alex?” He asked dangerously, getting closer to her.
‘There he goes again… Why does he always believe that Alex is the center of her existence and that she is without purpose?
“Gabriel, you can not come into my room like this, and in response to your question, I was not speaking to Alex.” At last, she revealed herself in an attempt to dispel Gabriel’s uncertainty.
His tense expression briefly relaxed, but soon the gloom returned, and he asked, “So who was it? Is anyone trying to hit on you?”
“God, Gabriel, why are you acting like my dad?” Eveline said, rolling her eyes at him as she moved further into the space.
“He does not even mind that I hang out with boys.”
Eveline had enough of Gabriel’s constant monitoring and overbearing behavior that she had to bring Jonathan into their conversation.
Gabriel pursed his lips, acknowledging his oversight. Although he went too far and upset Eveline in the process, what was he to do when she kept smiling at other people but not at him?
“I am sorry for making you feel like that, but I have to make sure you are not getting yourself in trouble while making friends or anything.” Gabriel apologized with a reasoning
“I am big enough to know whom should I talk with and whom I shouldn’t?” Eveline exploded, making Gabriel scowl at her comment.
“That is the reason you continued to be friends with Alex despite our repeated warnings. That indicates your level of maturity.”
Eveline fell silent as Gabriel managed to state the fact making her realize her mistake.
“All right, so I made a mistake, but what the heck? You can’t constantly mock me for that,” Eveline yelled, finding his words too harsh.
“I was not mocking you,” Gabriel sighed and moved slowly toward her.
“I am just worried about you. Did you forget even your best friend attempted to discredit you?” Gabriel asked, placing his hand on her cheek, but Eveline instinctively pulled away, finding his gesture too personal.
Gabriel fisted his hand, which hung mid-air, before pulling back and shoving it inside his pocket.
It was then Eveline realized Gabriel referred to Tiffany and with that, once again, her thoughts began to dwell.
“You don’t have to worry. I won’t let anyone degrade or take advantage of me.”
‘Not even you,’ she remarked to herself in the hopes that it would help her remember why she was here.

After the office hours ended, Ella packed her stuff and left the building. She was supposed to go grocery shopping as she decided to cook the meal all by herself but before that, she had to book a cab for herself.

Standing at the entrance, Ella scrolled through the app, ready to book a ride for herself, when a black motorcycle suddenly screeched before her.
Her gaze narrowed when the biker removed the helmet and looked right through her.
“Wanna ride?” Stefan asked shocking the shit out of Ella who least expected him to appear this way.
She assumed he would go with his dad, but she never thought he would bring his bike to work.
“You know how to ride a bike?” she asked, the corner of her mouth quivering as she approached him.
“Otherwise, why would I invite you along?” Stefan remarked, finding her look too adorable.
Ella closed her mouth after hearing his words and looked down at herself. “I haven’t ridden on a bike in my life. What if I fall?” her curiosity piqued yet she was contemplating giving in.
Ella’s fear prevented Stefan from seeing beyond her desire to hope.
Putting on the helmet back he said,” Don’t worry, I will not let you fall”
Ella’s eyes widened upon hearing Stefan’s comment and then shifted to meet his outstretched hand.
Ella had always been too reticent, but tonight she suddenly got the urge to let loose and get on an adventurous ride with Stefan.
“I am placing my trust in you,” she uttered as she grasped his hand and hopped onto the bike, with Stefan offering her an additional helmet to don.
“I won’t betray you, Dove.” With a sudden race, Ella yanked further onto Stefan, wrapping her arms around him before he accelerated the bike.
Ella was captivated by the sensation of the refreshing wind caressing her skin, making her smile throughout the ride. Although it was a thrill she had never experienced before, she relished every second of it.
Stefan glanced through the rare mirror and smiled.
“By the way, where do you live?” he inquired, grabbing Ella’s attention causing her to grin in return.
