Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 59
Chapter 59: Girlfriend?
“Hmm, so you live here?” Stefan said thoughtfully, rubbing his chin while standing before the grocery store along with Ella.
“Are you certain you have a mind in that head of yours, or do you consider me stupid?” she asked, rolling her eyes at his clumsy joke before making her way inside the shop.
With a chuckle, Stefan dropped his act and followed her inside the shop.
“Are you going to cook for yourself tonight? If so, may I come along?” Ella paused before glaring at Stefan with a playful expression.
“That was a direct call. Shouldn’t you ask me whether I am interested in inviting you?” she asked, shaking her head helplessly before resuming her task.
“You did invite me for a drink that night, so I figured we were close enough to visit each other’s house.” Stefan’s lips curled up when Ella shot a glare at him.
“Don’t go there. I promise that you will never be able to visit my home ever, as I am very bad at harboring resentment,” she warned before walking away.
Stefan scoffed at her endearing admonition and followed her around like a lost pup until she got all the ingredients for the meal.
Pointing to the can, she questioned, “Should I take some bear?”
“I assumed you declined,” Stefan joked teasingly, but he shook his head when she shot him a sluggish glance.
“I would not dare drink tonight. My friend will kill me if I go there with these bags under my eyes, I have a match tomorrow,” he said.
“You have a match?” she asked.
“Hmm, sports day, and since it’s my final year, I am going to make the most of it,” Stefan said as his eyes glistened with delight.
“Then you must not disappoint your mate,” she said, and they quickly walked out of the store with the bags in hand.
Ella saw that Stefan was spending a lot of time texting someone when she felt a sudden wave of curiosity and said, “Girlfriend?”
Stefan paused, taking in Ella’s uncomfortable look, and grinned, “No girlfriend, but sister,” before concluding his chat and stuffing the phone back into his jeans pocket.
“Sister?” Confused, she muttered, “But how come you have a sister when, as far as I know, you are the only child?” She asked, which prompted Stefan to chuckle at her eagerness.
“Yes, I do have a sister, and you too know her,” Stefan said, which made Ella even more perplexed.
Even after racking her brain, Ella failed to guess so Stefan decided to put an end to her worries.
“It’s Eve, Eveline Miller?” he said, and she parted her lips in a big O.
It was then Ella felt a sense of relief washing through her uneasy heart that started pounding anxiously at the thought of Stefan having a girlfriend.
‘Not that she minds him having one. However, she continued to feel wary.’
Stefan got on his bike and rode to her house, pulling up in front of a tall residential structure.
Ella and Stefan entered the building, utilizing the elevators to get to the twentieth floor.
“Don’t mind if you find my place a little messy; I recently moved here with my boyfrie-” Ella paused, realizing what she was about to say and awkwardly glanced at Stefan from the corner of her eyes.
Stefan nodded in understanding despite listening to what she said and they both entered the apartment.
Ella decided to purchase a home for herself and Max because she was eager to settle down with him. Five years into their relationship, they were ready to move forward, but after Max cheated on her, things took a turn for the worse and now it was just her living inside this big house.
Stefan took in the interior’s simplicity and beauty as he glanced around. He could tell that Ella had considered every little thing before setting up the space according to her taste. Undoubtedly, she possessed flawless skills, which is why his father had complete faith in her.
“You can sit here. I will go quickly and prepare something for us.” Ella said as she hurriedly made her way to the kitchen.

Stefan nodded but decided to take his time exploring the area and looking over the house carefully until he found the frames that were resting on the shelf next to the television.
“Silly girl, why do you keep hiding such a beautiful smile?” Stefan muttered, tapping at her photo with the pad of his finger, and turned to look at another one that had her and Max in it.
Stefan’s eyes flashed with a grimace as he remembered how this foolish bastard had the nerve to hurt such an innocent girl.
“Bastard,” he muttered, his heart pounding with rage as he continued to study Max’s face but then an idea clicked into his mind and he pulled out a pen from his bag.
“Let us touch up his giraffe face.” with that he started he pulled out the photo from the frame and started scribbling something on it when suddenly the doorbell rang, halting his action midway.
“Wait a second; I will check who it is?” Ella dashed into the kitchen, making her way directly to the door.
The moment she opened the door, the smile that adorned her face vanished and her eyes instantly turned cold at the sight of her ex-boyfriend standing in front of her.
“How come you are here, Max? Ella asked, not caring to accept the greetings because she felt he did not deserve them for what he had done to her.
Max scowled as he observed Ella’s impolite behavior and uttered, “I am not here to plead or offer an apology. All I have to do is move my belongings out of here.”
Ella’s expression hardened as she stood there, crossing her arms over her chest and saying, “Will you please tell me what belongings you have here, since everything, including your stuff, was bought with my card, as far as I know.”
Max tightens his jaw as he takes offense at Ella’s harsh remarks, but the second he decides to fight back, a sound from inside the house caught his attention.
“Pff, hahaha”
