Chapter 66: A note

Tiffany went straight to her room and locked herself in as soon as she got home from college. Her eyes were filled with conflicted feelings as she clenched her jaw in frustration, remembering how Eveline had gotten away with her plan this time as well.

Even after going through so much to devise such a brilliant plan, it failed to work out for her.

What a shame.

Tiffany sneered as she stood in front of the mirror on her tiny dressing table, her dark eyes staring directly into her reflection.

“Poor Gracey, I apologize for putting you through this. But what was I supposed to do when Eveline left me with no choice?” Tiffany mumbled, worried for her friend who was affected negatively because of her intention.

To humiliate Eveline in front of the staff, Tiffany had to drag Gracey into this mess. Little did Tiffany know, though, that Eveline would ultimately use her intelligence to protect herself.

“Even though I failed against Eveline, no one will be suspicious of me now that I have presented the culprit before everyone,” smirked Tiffany.

As she continued to stand before the mirror with her eyes dreamily looking elsewhere, the abrupt sound of her phone snapped her out of her trance.

Sneering, she pulled out the phone and saw Alex’s name flashing on the screen.

“And now the dog is approaching to warn me,” she muttered. Her face became bitter, but she did not answer the phone; instead, she let it ring until it stopped and a notification pinged.

Tiffany glanced at the message Alex had sent her, grinning, and skimmed it quickly.

‘What the hell were you trying to do Tiffany? I warned you to leave Eveline alone and focus on Gabriel. Then why create the fuss, huh’

Tiffany’s expression quickly darkened, and she growled, “Because you, girl, do not leave my man alone. Had you known what she was attempting to accomplish, you would not have placed the blame on me.”

Tiffany was getting so annoyed with Alex’s naive faith in Eveline that she wanted to expose him too. She acknowledged that she was afraid of him after he nearly choked her that day, but she was more motivated to kill him for not trusting her the way he always did.

Fuming in rage, she tossed her phone aside and walked inside the bathroom to freshen up.

Alex, meanwhile, sighed when Tiffany did not answer his text. He tried to calm himself, clutching his phone firmly, then glanced over at the house.

Alex had followed Eveline to Winston’s house, but when he saw how she refused to wait for Gabriel and walked away, he relaxed with the assurance that Tiffany had been lying about their relationship because she wasn’t able to get Gabriel.

Though his eyes betray his true feelings, Alex said shyly with a smile, “Eveline, I know you have no feelings for Gabriel, but this insecurity keeps coming back and I end up following you everywhere.”

Anyone would be afraid of the darkness that loomed over them, but he managed to hide his true feelings behind his glasses.

When things did not go his way, Alex would go completely insane, and nobody else knew this except his family. Under his nerdy exterior, he was a manic who had developed an obsession with Eveline, to the point where he watched her every day.

However, blood shoots through his veins whenever Gabriel interrupts his quiet time with Eveline, pushing him to take out a sharp object and stab it right through his heart.

“You end up trying my patience, Gabriel, but do not worry, I will figure out a way out of this mess pretty soon,” he grinned evilly before putting his hood on and walking away from there cautiously.

Eveline exited the bathroom, changed into cozy clothes, and gave Jonathan a call to share her day’s events.

Jonathan had been abroad for three days, but despite his hectic schedule, Eveline made sure to check in on her father and talk with him in his spare time.

After whatever conspired today, Eveline was just a step ahead of getting reported by Dean Benjamin to Jonathan. She would have lost her face in front of her father if he had not placed his trust in her and allowed her to prove herself and for that, she would always be grateful to him.

The ring continued, and when Jonathan did not pick up, she decided to give him another try or perhaps just wait for him to call.

Eveline put her phone down, leaped onto the bed, and lay down. The incident from today continued to race through her head, preventing her from letting go of the uncertainties that surrounded her belief that Gracey was the one who had set her up.

Gracey was a considerate girl who would not risk losing the scholarship she was awarded to attend Aspen University. Then again, how was she supposed to ignore the video that they saw?

She was seen entering the changing room and acknowledging that she was the one who had done it. Eveline, however, remained unconvinced despite all of this because Tiffany was the one she had framed.

“I need to confront Gracey and find everything,” Eveline muttered as she jolted up to sit on the bed after continuing to toss and turn on the bed restlessly and reached to grab her phone only to stop abruptly.

“I do not have her number,” she exclaimed with sudden realization, but given her incredible talent, getting one was not difficult.

She got Gracey’s number from one of their classmates and called her right away, only to be disappointed when Gracey did not pick up.

Just as a dejected Eveline was about to hang up, the phone was answered abruptly.

“Hi Gracey, this is Eveline..”

Meanwhile, inside Gabriel’s room, the boy refused to get out of the shower and let himself drench until he finally felt better.

Wrapping the towel around his torso, he then walked out of the bathroom. He had a faint frown on his face, and as soon as he got to the bedside table, he noticed the note that was lying there.

He reached over to pick it up and opened it to read the words written inside.

“Be ready to face the consequences if you refuse to do as I say.”

Although Gabriel was not sure who wrote the note, he was certain that Gracey was not the one who had done what she had done voluntarily and that someone else had been trying to use her as a pawn to further their agenda.
