Chapter 70: You aren’t taking my words seriously
Eveline could feel the intensity of the moment, but she held her ground. She studied their surroundings with great attention, then glanced over to Gabriel and uttered,
“Why even ask if you already know the answer?” Her tone was mocking, which made him even more enraged than he was before.
“Why, tell me, why do you not want to be closer to me when I confessed how I can not stay away from you?” Gabriel asked, tightening his grip on her arm and darkening his eyes.
“Do you not think that my feelings are so insignificant that you could get rid of them by going?” He asked, raising a small corner of his mouth.
Eveline was baffled as to why Gabriel was so adamant about rejecting her statements. She made it plain that she did not want to feel anything for him and that he should just treat her as inconsequential as always. So, why this stubbornness?
While Gabriel accused her, he also asserted that he did not readily fall for her tricks. He will follow her no matter how hard she tries to flee until he discovers the cause of his obsession.
Eveline snapped, clenching her teeth, “Gabriel, let go of my hand, we are getting late.” She tried to wriggle, but he would not let go and drew dangerously near to her.
“Let me tell you, Eve, no matter how much you try to run away from me, I won’t let that happen.” Gabriel said without reservation, “I will make sure you never stop seeing me around you so you will not have the chance to fall out of love with me.” Though they were his natural emotions, Eveline’s mind was ultimately affected.
Gabriel being so vocal about how he felt for her made her brain go nuts. He was clearly determined to win her heart, even though she had been keeping herself together to resist giving in to his advances.
‘Why can’t he just leave her alone?’ she screamed in her head while her expressions contoured with fume.
“Gabriel, I do not care.” Eveline said, holding herself firmly with her determination, “Do whatever you want; I will not melt my heart for you because, as I said, I hate to accept you again in my life.”
Eveline furrowed her brow in confusion as Gabriel’s lips loosened even more.
She expected Gabriel to lose it or at the very least hurt her in such a situation, but the way he continued to smile like a lunatic made her feel foolish for even thinking that what she had said would make sense to him.
“I can tell you are lying because of the way your eyes look at me, Eve. Your words do not match the way your eyes look at me,” Gabriel said, leaving Eveline stunned.
Gabriel leaned forward, slowly pressed his lips to her forehead, and whispered, “You are still not over my foolish behavior, so even though you still like me, you will not accept it.” Eveline blinked dumbfoundedly.
Gabriel’s behavior still surprises her, but why is he so certain that she is hiding her emotions?
“Do not worry, though; I will make up for all the times I ignored you or failed to recognize your feelings,” he said, drawing away. His hand slowly moved up to her face and he gently caressed her cheek.
Although Gabriel could not put a name to the feelings he had for Eveline, he was certain that he could not let her go. The last thing he wanted to happen to him was to lose her forever, which he fears will happen, just like that dream that never left his mind, even to this date.

“So you mean to say Gracey was forced to take the blame and this note is the proof?” Stefan flicked the note between his fingers and looked doubtfully at Gabriel.
“And how did you find it?” he asked.
“When you were working on retrieving the footage, I noticed something falling from Gracey’s hand, as she was too eager to leave,” said Gabriel, his brow furrowed before he began to tell the whole story. “Well, I went to the changing room before I went to see the dean, and you know what I found there—the note was still there.”
Stefan nodded in understanding as Gabriel’s words slowly seeped into his mind.
“Who do you think is the person behind this?” he inquired, gesturing towards the note.
“I doubt Alex is behind this, but I am not sure if my assumption is correct,” Gabriel stated immediately, but after giving it some thought, he realized that it was still uncomfortable for Alex to force Eveline into an unbeneficial situation.
“Yes, what advantage will he have from entangling Eveline in this mess? But there is this one person I doubt we can’t ignore,” Stefan said as he deliberately caught Gabriel’s eye.
A moment of understanding developed between the two as they kept staring thoughtfully at each other.
“Tiffany”

Both Stefan and Gabriel said it together breaking the silence between them.
“I do not think she is innocent, given the way she tried to discredit Eveline in the past,” Stefan expressed his skepticism.
Gabriel remained silent for a brief while before nodding in agreement with Stefan’s claim.
“You are right. I do not think she is as innocent as she seems after trying to minimize Eveline by placing the blame on her.” Though Tiffany constantly tried to come across as Eveline’s good friend, Gabriel muttered that he had always found her to be a little manipulative.
At some point even he started to believe in her words, which he now regretted.
“I believe that Tiffany needs to be watched closely, and we also need to speak with Gracey. It is necessary to establish her innocence if she is being coerced into this situation.” Gabriel said, receiving Stefan’s approval in return.

The lecture continued in full swing however Eveline was barely able to keep her attention focused on the topic.
She intended to sneak out of the college during lunch and head to Gracey’s house, but she was not sure if Gabriel would let her go in that exact manner.
Given his description of keeping a tap on her, she was not sure it was as simple as she had assumed. But no matter what, she had to take this step and meet Gracey as soon as possible.
Taking a deep breath, Eveline darted her gaze ahead and tried to focus. After about twenty minutes, the class ended, and Eveline swiftly grabbed her books, stuffed them into her bag, and rushed out of the classroom.
Tiffany, who saw Eveline hurrying out of the classroom, furrowed her brow. Quickly packing her bag, she was about to follow her when her eyes caught the sight of Alex blocking her way.
After ignoring his calls and messages, Alex was irked by her indecency and decided to confront her in college. He gestured for her to come to a private area, knowing that they would not be able to interact as much as they would have liked because there were still a lot of students inside.
Tiffany slowly followed Alex out of the classroom and to a private area where no one would see them because she realized there was no point in avoiding him, especially when he appeared so angry and determined to confront her.
“You aren’t taking my words seriously, aren’t you?” Alex asked as soon as he sensed Tiffany standing behind him.
