Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 72
Chapter 72: What’s the truth?
“H-How would I know?” Tiffany collected herself and answered.
Gabriel frowned, observing Tiffany’s dumb behavior, and remarked, “It is amazing how well you knew she was the source of your malfunction. You have to be aware of her whereabouts, right?”
Tiffany was shocked that Gabriel would come to accuse her of subtly expressing his disapproval while maintaining a straight face.
She thought she would win his heart, but it turns out Eveline completely brainwashed him.
After observing Tiffany and Alex leaving the same location at a different time, Gabriel concluded that he could not trust either of them and that something was indeed brewing between the two. Despite his ignorance, Tiffany’s presence suggested otherwise.
Tiffany quickly jumped to defend herself after giving a sharp shake of her head, clearly taken aback by Gabriel’s direct remark, “Gabriel, you are misinterpreting me. I did not know it was Gracey. I just stated what I observed.”
Tiffany was unwilling to take a chance on her relationship with Gabriel in case he turned against her.
She had always hated Eveline for being the center of attention for all the attractive guys, but Gabriel ended up being the most important person.
His lack of acknowledgement towards Eveline was just a facade. In actuality, Gabriel was also attracted to Eveline; he was just unaware of his feelings for her.
Something about the way he listened intently to everything she said about Eveline convinced her that Gabriel did, in fact, like Eveline.
Gabriel would’ve believed Tiffany if he hadn’t come across her cunning persona. It was stupid of him to even spare a minute of entertainment where she ended up messing with his thoughts, making him doubt his Eveline.
Gabriel gave Tiffany a hard look, before he turned and left from there without responding to her.
Tiffany stood dumbfounded by his sudden departure.
Her fist tightened until she released it, feeling a burning sensation on her palm as she continued to stare at his retreated figure in fury.

When Gabriel tried to call Eveline, she did not answer. He would have heard Alex cautioning him to tell Eveline’s whereabouts, but he realized Eveline was not with him when he saw him in the college.
Gabriel tried contacting her again after numerous failures, prepared to leave the college if she did not reply. To his relief, he saw her coming back.
Gabriel abruptly cut off the call, pushed the phone back into his pocket, and ran after Eveline, obstructing her path.
“Where did you go and why aren’t you answering my calls?” He snapped startling Eveline on her spot.
Gabriel had this concern marred on his face as he kept looking at her. There was this unquenching longing he felt when he did find her anywhere and that made him more worried.
Eveline stood dumbstruck, however, her mind kept on recalling the talk she had with Gracey.
[Sometime back]
“What issue do you have, Eveline? Why can’t you believe that I was the one behind all the conspiracy?” Gracey snapped, concealing her anxiety behind her enraged demeanor.
She did not understand Eveline’s persistence, considering that she had already come to terms with her transgression.
“Because I know you wouldn’t do something like that to your best friend,” Eveline responded as she took a step closer to her.
“So tell me, Gracey, what is the truth?” she said, reaching to rest her hand lightly on her shoulder as a sign of assurance.
Gracey’s protective shield around her heart began to erode gradually, and as soon as she heard Eveline’s comforting words, her eyes began to burn.
She was scared that one word from her would end up landing her in big trouble, but hadn’t she already faced the backlash to consider it still a threat?
Gracey attempted to conceal the fact that she had manipulated the class representative’s vote to defeat Eveline for the job; however, following her actions toward Tiffany, she lost her face anyway before the professors and students.

So was it worth still being defensive when there was nothing left to be scared of?
Gracey looked at Eveline cautiously. Despite Eveline’s kindness, she had always viewed her as a rival. She envied her for having all the attention, not only from the staff but also from the students.
She was never able to see herself positively due to her continual loss in the grade against Eveline. Although she is reticent, she intends to feel jealous of Eveline because of her personality and wants to be admired like her.
Gracey regretted judging Eveline all this while. However, her defenses quickly gave way and she began sobbing uncontrollably as soon as she realized how sincere she had been to come forward and know her truth.
“I was forced to take the blame,” Gracey disclosed, leaving Eveline stunned by her words, finally confirming her doubts to be true and that Gracey was actually innocent in this whole situation.
Eveline asked Gracey to tell her everything from the beginning while maintaining her composure, to which Gracey was forced to reveal the truth.
[Present]
Eveline kept staring at Gabriel without paying attention to any of his words. It was when he shook her shoulders that she snapped out of her thoughts, with the log slowly clearing her mind.
“Gabriel, what the heck are you doing shaking me like that for?” Eveline growled, yanking his hand away and taking a step back.
She gave him a fierce glare, but the boy didn’t stop there. Instead, he stepped dangerously closer to her by grabbing her arm and pulling her closer to him.
“Answer me, why didn’t you answer my calls and where the hell did you go?” Since Eveline was unable to comprehend his kindness, Gabriel had grown tired of treating her gently and forced her to answer him.
Eveline blinked several times, seeing in Gabriel’s grey orbs a ferocity that penetrated her soul almost like a drill machine. But when he refused to let her go so easily until he got what he wanted, she realized it was pointless to deny or push him away.
She thought to herself, ‘How did he get so overbearing,’ but she quickly pushed the thought aside and looked at Gabriel.
“I went to the adjacent food stand because I did not want to eat anything from the university cafeteria,” she said, lying to conceal herself from Gabriel’s critical eyes.
“And why didn’t you answer my calls?” he asked right away, bringing Eveline’s attention back to him.
Eveline scowled in confusion, but then remembered that her phone had been in silent mode while it was in her bag, so she had not heard any noise from it.
