Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 79
Chapter 79: Gabriel is mine!!
The brief joy he felt was gone in an instant, and now Gabriel could only bide his time until she responded.
Eveline wanted to distract him, so she just allowed herself to listen to him. Now that she had blurted out those words, though, all he could do was keep asking her to explain why she was there.
Eveline swallowed at Gabriel’s gloomy gaze and forced an uncomfortable smile.
“Hehe, when did I say that?” Eveline mentioned glancing away from his eyes.
She could not bring herself to look foolish in front of Gabriel, even though she knew she was busted.
“Eve, you heard it correctly. Now stop acting and tell me who you were waiting for.” Now that she had actually irritated him with her pretense, Gabriel was truly serious again.
The Eveline he knew had always been so understanding of him, but this one would trick him without thinking about how other people would feel when they realized it was all a show.
When Gabriel persisted, Eveline sighed.
Gabriel’s eyebrows knitted as she uttered, “I was waiting for Aunt Susan.”
Eveline had a few things she wanted to keep private, but she was powerless to resist Gabriel’s constant pestering and overbearing behavior.
“But wasn’t she in her hometown? Why are you standing outside the convenience store waiting for her?” Gabriel asked after overhearing Eveline’s conversation with Bella regarding the whole Susan thing.
Eveline had planned to visit Susan because she missed her, but she later canceled the plan after learning that Susan was in her hometown.
“Yeah, she was supposed to be there, but I happened to see her here, which caught me eager to know why she lied about being in her hometown,” Eveline said, giving him a questioning glance before brushing it off.
Gabriel’s scowl deepened as he considered when to tell Eveline that Tiffany was Susan’s daughter.
Stefan stated it was necessary for her to know the truth but knowing how much Eveline was destressed with just one lie from Susan, he wondered how she would feel when she will know the truth.
“Do you know where she lives?” Gabriel asked and she shook her denying his words.
Gabriel realized that asking Stefan to find Tiffany would only take a minute, but he considered whether Susan was lying unless there was a good reason.
Eveline sighed and started walking with Gabriel silently following her. The was something different with the way Eveline suddenly went quite at the mention of Susan that piqued his interest to ask about the lady further.
“But isn’t she you nanny. I thought you knew where she lived?” Gabriel pick up another conversation indulging Eveline in the activity too.
It did not sit well with him to see her depressed, and he came to the conclusion that it was better that she reprimanded him. If nothing else, she would not end up shutting down.
“I know, but I thought it wasn’t right for me to meddle in her life unless I heard some of the maid talking about it behind her back” Eveline muttered.
A level of comfort form between then that she didn’t stop herself from sharing her worries with him.
“Her husband is allegedly an alcoholic who even beats her. They added that Susan is making a lot of effort to pay back the debt her husband incurred as a result of his gambling addiction.”
Gabriel furrowed hearing her words. He recalled Stefan didn’t disclose this details perhaps he only worked on finding minimal details regarding Tiffany.
“What if she lied because she did not want you to witness her messed-up life apart from your caretaker?” Gabriel blurted out. His mind immediately began to calculate all the possible reasons for Susan’s reluctance to let Eveline visit her.
Eveline shot her eyes at Gabriel, pondering over the words he said.
“You might be correct. Why had I not considered it?” Eveline mumbled as she processed what Gabriel had said.
Susan was not the type to lie, but if she had, there was only one reason for it: she did not want her to know what life was like at home.
Her gaze briefly lit up with satisfaction, but it vanished as her thoughts wandered to something else she had not checked.

While getting ready, Tiffany considered leaving her room to avoid running into Susan, who would question her about the same thing as the previous evening.
She had escaped her mother’s questioning presence yesterday, but how could she abandon her now?
Her father’s presence had been helpful for the first time, but now she wondered who would assist her.
Tiffany realized that Susan was beginning to doubt her, and she regretted not hiding those pictures with more care.
After a moment, she finally mustered her courage and opened the door. She slowly peered outside but was unable to locate Susan.
Tiffany sighs with relief and dashes from her room to the main door, ready to vanish from sight, only to freeze at the sound of someone calling her name.
At precisely the right moment, Susan’s voice emerged from the restroom. Her brows knitted as she observed her daughter walk out of her sight.
Rather than put pressure on Tiffany to come clean, Susan decided to confront her directly and put an end to her fantasy with Gabriel, knowing full well that she would be lying if she claimed not to understand Tiffany’s perspective.
“I am not done with you just yet. There is still a lot on our minds. Please stay put and take a seat on the couch.” Tiffany’s reverie was interrupted by Susan’s firm voice, and she gripped the door handle before turning to listen to her mother’s advice.
When they were comfortably seated on the couch, Susan spoke up without a hint of approval.
“I understand that you have feelings for Gabriel, but you should give up on them since he will never truly be yours.”
Tiffany could not help but feel sparked by her mother’s assertion as Susan’s words penetrated her heart like needles.
“Why will he not be mine?” Tiffany asked, her eyes instantly burning with rage. “Do you believe I am not competent enough to be his partner?”
Susan shook her head, disproving her claim that she was unfit to be Gabriel’s partner.
“Tiffany, you do not understand. Your feelings might be valid, but you have to stop pursuing them because Gabriel’s parents have already selected the girl for him and she is none other than Eveline,” Susan announced, leaving Tiffany stunned, but soon the rage flared up within her and she jerked her hand on the table, throwing everything aside.
“No! Eveline cannot have Gabriel. He is mine, do you get that?!”
Susan was taken aback by Tiffany’s rant. She was meant to persuade her daughter to give up on Gabriel, but the response she received left her speechless.
“What is the meaning of all this?” Observing her daughter’s insanity, she contemplated.
Susan had always thought of Tiffany as a sensible daughter who knew how to live up to her expectations, but she was unaware that Tiffany would suppress her craziness to the point where she made no effort to listen to her.
“Why in the world does everyone keep chanting Eveline’s name? Is she the only attractive girl on earth, or do all the others pale in comparison to her?” Susan was shocked into silence by Tiffany’s sudden outburst.
Every word that came out of her mouth cried out in jealousy, and Susan realized that it was not something that happened overnight but rather evolved.
‘So, does that imply that she has been crushing on Gabriel for a while, and that her longing turned into an obsession when it was not returned?’
Susan picked up on Tiffany’s obsession with Eveline becoming the focal point rather than her fondness for Gabriel.
‘How the heck did I not see this coming?’ She was taken aback by the unexpected result as realization struck her like a thunderbolt.
“Do you realize what you are saying, Tiffany?” Susan attempted to approach Tiffany by extending her hand, but she shook it off. “You are not like this daughter.”
“I am sure of what I am doing, Mom, so I advise you to back off. For whatever you say, Gabriel will always be mine and not Eveline’s.” Susan was left perplexed when Tiffany declared, “She can not always have the best.”
Susan speak a word as she watched Tiffany smirk and get up to leave. It was at the sound of the closing door that Susan startled out of her trance, with her heart instantly picking up a fast beat, making it hard for her to breathe.
Susan wasn’t able to fathom her thoughts. Tiffany’s obsession with Gabriel ran so deep that it started scaring her. However, she couldn’t stay still and let Tiffany ruin her life.
“I will try to talk with her again once she is ready. I can’t let her ruin anyone’s life.”
