Chapter 80: Tiffany’s reality

[At Hayes Mansion]

“Dude, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I mean, you can keep a secret from Eveline behind that cold demeanor, but I won’t be able to stand her with a knife on my throat.” Stefan voiced his concern with a lift of his hand.

“What do you mean I can keep a secret? Do you take me for someone who lies to Eveline?” Gabriel retaliated sharply, taking offense at Stefan’s comment.

“When did I say that?!” Stefan spoke with a startled expression, but he soon composed himself and smiled mischievously.

“You do keep secrets from her, do you? Did you forget that all of the pictures and videos on your hard drive are of Eveline in her childhood and adult years? Furthermore, you still have not told her how you feel.” Stefan said, making Gabriel’s frown deeper.

“She already knows,” Gabriel blurted out, leaving Stefan shocked, and he quickly rushed to his side like a curious child who had someone to enjoy talking to.

“When?!” he asked. His eyes were sparkling with delight.

Stefan believed that Gabriel would need a lifetime to face the emotions he had harbored for Eveline since their childhood. But at last, his friend had matured and had marked his territory by taking the required action.

Rubbing his palm excitedly, he enquired, “What did she say?”

Gabriel’s lips quirked in frustration. Suddenly, he wanted to rip that stupid smile off his face. But he was unable to accomplish it because he required a confidant.

Taking a deep breath, he exhaled and let go of his irritation. “She rejected,” he uttered, snatching the beam from Stefan’s face.

“WHAT?! SHE REJECTED YOU?” Stefan failed to control his voice, which went higher from the normal decibel, causing Gabriel to smack his head.

Gabriel warned Stefan to “keep your voice down or else everyone on this thinks something is going on here,” and Stefan instantly became more composed.

He found it unbelievable that Eveline’s unfulfilled love would eventually become Gabriel’s unfulfilled love as well.

Even though Stefan sympathized with Eveline’s hesitancy, he still did not want his friend to suffer.

Despite their stark differences, Eveline and Gabriel fit together like the correct pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

“Give it a little time, please. I am sure she will come to like you again,” Stefan said, giving Gabriel a quick pat on the shoulder.

Though Gabriel may be angry at Stefan for being the most annoying friend, Gabriel had no one else to confide in when he was worried.

Stefan gave them the encouragement they needed, and they made the decision to ignore the jokes and focus on Gabriel’s visit is main goal.

“It seems like Alex and Tiffany took the previously released pictures together. Nonetheless, it is evident why Alex wanted to be closer to Eveline than Tiffany—who was meant to be her closest friend.” After giving it some thought, Stefan muttered, “Why would she stoop so low, going against Eveline?”

“Because she wants me,” Gabriel responded, confounding Stefan once more.

But as he remembered Tiffany snooping on Gabriel whenever she was with Eveline or trying to grab his attention by striking up a conversation at random, things gradually began to make sense to him.

He recalled that Eveline had told her about Tiffany’s assistance in bringing her and Gabriel closer.

Stefan was shocked to learn that Eveline had made friends with a snake who used their friendship to pursue Gabriel, saying, “This girl is the most wrecked person I have ever come across.”

“Explain what you mean.” Gabriel asked, noting the stunned expression on Stefan’s face.

When Stefan regained consciousness, he glanced at Gabriel, who appeared to be intrigued by what he was doing.

Tiffany’s true intentions for Eveline made it impossible for him to keep it a secret any longer, even though he knew this was supposed to be an agreement between them.

“I swear to abide by your words regarding Aunt Susan to Eveline, but you have to guarantee that my name will not appear in this, not even in your dreams before her after whatever I tell you.” Stefan was wary of Eveline, fearing that she would rip the skin off of his bones if she ever found out that he had told Gabriel about their agreement.

Although Gabriel gave Stefan an odd glance, he had to admit that Stefan was still clinging to their boyhood memories of Pinky Promise. No wonder Eveline calls him brother; he resembles her in some way.

“Promise,” he said and Stefan took a deep breath, watching Gabriel carefully before giving in to his words.

“This girl is crafty in addition to being manipulative. Under her innocent appearance lies a dark personality that bears some resemblance to Alex’s. Without a doubt, these two are collaborating,” Stefan shook his head in disbelief.

They finally began to understand everything, but Gabriel found it to be more problematic.

“Now that their friendship has ended, it makes sense why Eveline abruptly distanced herself from Tiffany and then got into a fight. All of this occurred abruptly, and the only plausible explanation is that Eveline learned of her plan. But the real question is, Why did she choose to ignore and not confront her?”

“You think Eveline came to learn her intention?” Stefan asked taking in Gabriel’s blabbering words.

“I believe so, or else she would not have treated her in that manner,” Gabriel remarked in reference to the video that went viral in the college and showed Tiffany apologizing to Eveline in public.

Stefan’s expression turned to one of amusement. He had no idea that Eveline had already found out about the things they were being exposed to.

But how?

“Now that their reality has been revealed, we cannot trust any of them. If Eveline is correct that Tiffany is interested in me, then she would stop at nothing to keep Eveline and me apart, which would ultimately be Alex’s gain because he wants her.” Gabriel concluded.

“What is the plan then?” Understanding the subliminal message in his words, Stefan inquired.
