Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 82
Chapter 82: You are lying
“Ah”
Gabriel gave Eveline a start, biting and pulling her lower lip slowly before releasing it.
“You do enjoy trying my patience, do not you?” His gaze was fixed on her as he asked in a melancholy tone.
Gabriel had never felt the need to run after anyone, but Eveline wasn’t just anyone. She was the girl he liked and watching her get close to a guy, boiled his blood.
Though shocked, Eveline did not let her fear get in the way of her resolve to tell the truth.
Her voice was quiet but firm as she said, “As I said, let me explain.”
Gabriel gave her a serious glance and cocked his head slightly before nodding.
Instead of holding himself responsible for losing control or frightening her, he would give her an opportunity to express herself before making any decisions.
Gazing at her agitated countenance, Gabriel tenderly stroked her cheek and planted another kiss on her lips, rendering Eveline completely stunned.
She was utterly bewildered, but it was unbelievable to witness Gabriel behave like a submissive puppy, prepared to present himself to her.
Taking a moment to fathom her thoughts, Eveline finally spoke: “It was just an act to make Alex drop his defense.”
Eveline looked up and saw him staring calmly at her. She knew Alex was a mentally unstable person who required drugs to remain sane. So when she got hold of that bottle, she confronted him.
Eveline’s goal was to trap Alex so that he would be so blind as to trust her that he would divulge every secret he had kept to himself. However, it will be difficult for her to win Alex’s trust if Gabriel keeps ruining her plans.
“So you will let him hold your hand?” he asked with an arch of his brow.
Eveline shook her head, denying his claim right away, “As I said, it was an act. I would do it intentionally,” she responded.
“Hmm,”
Eveline stared at Gabriel in surprise at his nuanced reply as he moved his hand from her cheek to her lips.
“Next time, make sure he does not touch you because I detest the idea of him doing so,” Gabriel warned with a calming tone that left Eveline puzzled whether she should be scare or just ignore it.
However to stop Gabriel from getting upset, she nodded.
“O-okay” she said.
Eveline suddenly began to feel hot when she realized how close they stood. Not even a gap left for the air to pass between them.
Just like hers, Eveline could feel the thumping of Gabriel’s heart while he continued to stare at her and his thumb busy tracing her lips.
She looked like a lost child who had no idea what was going on, but then something click her mind and she looked at him with a frown.
“But how did you find that we were holding hands?” His thumb stopped following her lips the moment she asked that question, and his eyes flickered with thought.
“I discovered it precisely that way,” Gabriel remarked, glancing away.
His hand that had been resting on her face withdrew, and Eveline started to grow suspicious of his capricious behavior.
Eveline was positive that Gabriel had not learned about it from the college forum, but he was informed nonetheless.
“You are lying. I can sense that” Eveline muttered crossing her hand while she continued to stare at Gabriel doubtfully.
“Therefore, before I use my method to force you to say everything, tell me the truth.”

Sighing, Gabriel took a quick look at Eveline, who was holding her ground and waiting for a response.
“Tiffany texted me the picture,” he revealed, shocking Eveline.
“T-Tiffany, Huh?” Eveline scoffed hearing his response.
She was shocked that, out of all of them, Gabriel responded aggressively to the text he had received from Tiffany.
But then, what was she to expect from any of them? Was not it always this way, Gabriel being taken advantage of in such a way that he continued to hold her responsible for every event in their lives?
Eveline simply turned and left the room without saying anything, confusing Gabriel.
Unable to control himself, Gabriel also left the room and trailed behind her, oblivious to the discreet eyes observing him.
“This was the same view I saw that day and I am sure whatever assumed was true” Tiffany muttered turning her gaze towards Alex, who looked more than furious at the sight of Gabriel following Eveline.
“It’s all Gabriel’s fault.” Tiffany scowled at Alex’s inarticulate response.
“You still think Eveline is innocent?” she asked.
Alex watched the two gradually disappear from his sight before he turned to face Tiffany and said, “Yes.”
Tiffany’s mouth quirked with frustration, and she yelled, “Alex, get out of your daze. She is playing tricks on you and Gabriel. She is not so naive.”
Alex snorted, thinking Tiffany’s actions were amusing.
“It is funny, Tiffany, but I feel sorry for you because you continue to hold other people accountable for your lack of competence. You still hold Eveline responsible even after you witness how he coerced her into following him. However, allow me to warn you: if you do nothing, then don’t blame me for hurting Gabriel..”
Alex’s eyes wavered, expressing the seriousness of his remarks, which did not come across as merely menacing.
Tiffany knew Alex was capable of harming Gabriel if she didn’t do anything, but the question here was how.
She was rendered helpless when Alex refused to believe her, further tarnishing her reputation before Gabriel even had a chance to win his heart.
This time, she thought, she would be able to show Alex the true nature of Gabriel and Eveline’s relationship, but this lovesick fool was unable to point out any flaws in her.
Tiffany was unable to speak, implying that his words had an impact on her, before he turned and left the area.

“You think Alex would compel to Tiffany’s words?” Eveline inquired, feeling a little uneasy after seeing him and Tiffany together monitoring them.
It was a clear explanation, but she still wanted Gabriel’s unwavering silence to reassure her.
“Have I mentioned that Tiffany and Alex are a team? ” Gabriel spoke abruptly, surprising Eveline.
