Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 83
Chapter 83: She saved me once
“What did you say?” she asked, utterly surprised by his words.
“No?” he asked with a shake of his head, irritating Eveline with his snide comment.
Gabriel ignored her reaction and repeated, “Yes, you heard me right. Alex and Tiffany are a team and I am confident that whatever conspired in our lives is their doing.”
His words crashed into her head, filling in every gap that Eveline searched for, leaving her speechless.
“Since I informed you earlier about Tiffany’s involvement with Gracey’s suspension, I discovered a surveillance where I discovered Tiffany and Alex together,” he said, breaking Eveline’s thought.
“Since how long have they been together?” she asked, to which Gabriel shrugged.
“Maybe for too long,” he said.
Gabriel observed Eveline spacing off, revealing her perplexed expression as if she were busy thinking about something.
Breaking her stream of thought, he asked abruptly, “How did you and Tiffany become friends?” and she turned to look at him in a daze.
Since Gabriel had asked, Eveline attempted to recall the precise instance in which Tiffany won her trust. Was it her friendly encounter that made her get along with her, or was it when she saved her from those goons?
Eveline may be the most popular girl in the college, but she did not have any friends and despite the warning signs, Eveline grabbed Tiffany’s hand as soon as she reached out to befriend her.
How naive she was to think she had at last found someone she could trust.
“She saved me once from the goons,” Eveline muttered with a least-bothering expression.
She did not want to think about those moments, but she could not help but remember them. Her one weak moment ended up being the greatest mishap of her life.
Had she been more resilient in those days, perhaps she would’ve felt the need to seek help from anyone.
Eveline’s words caused Gabriel to furrow.
“You were attacked by goons? When? And how come I never knew it?” Gabriel questioned; the news shocked him.
Someone as blabbering as Eveline happened to face a problem and neither he nor Stefan were aware of it.
His heart prickled at the thought of Eveline going through it.
Observing the agony that continued to burn in Gabriel’s eyes, Eveline scowled but turned her head away.
“It was only an accident, so there is no need to worry. Moreover, it happened long ago to even think about.” She purposely tried to brush off their attention from something that left a scar on her she couldn’t forget.
You could have informed us nonetheless.” Gabriel spoke as he approached, asking, “How could you hide something important from us, from me?”
The thought of something happening to Eveline left him restless.
Gabriel was upset with himself for abandoning her when she needed him. He found her to be overly innocent at the time, so he purposefully ignored her even though he was completely engrossed in everything she did.
No matter what reasons he would give, he knew he was wrong.
Gabriel realized it was his fear that stopped him from falling weak to those emotions that bring nothing but distraction. But from this point on, he would not allow anything to happen to her because he realized he could not survive without her.
Words failed to escape her mouth as she simply stared at his deep grey eyes. She could not help but stare at them gradually descended into his abyss because they were so captivating.
Eveline lowered her gaze and nodded. She was afraid that if she kept staring at him, her heart would grow weaker again and she would become nothing more than a slave to his love.
Gabriel pulled her into his embrace and planted a kiss on her head.

This sudden action of his caused Eveline’s stomach to churn weirdly, leaving a subtle growl in the process.
She was momentarily brought to tears by a slap of embarrassment, but she dared not look at Gabriel once he pulled away.
“Come, let’s eat something first,” he said as he grabbed her hand and pulled her once more, making their way to the cafeteria.

In the meantime, Stefan and Ella were successful in closing the deal with their foreign delegates because they were very impressed with the proposal they had given them.
Stefan intended to reach both local and foreign audiences in order to establish a solid foundation for them everywhere in the world. He was sure that they would benefit from this product and become one of the most well-known companies in the world.
As they wrapped up the meeting and left the location, Stefan turned to look at Ella, who continued to agree with his words about flaunting her beautiful eyes.
Not only that, but she also happened to work a little on her face by applying some blush and gloss that complimented her natural beauty gracefully.
Right before their car, Stefan paused and asked, “Why does the air feel so nice today?”
Unaware of the metaphor in his words, Ella cast a glance around her, her eyes crinkling from the intense sunlight.
“I don’t think so; it’s still hot,” she responded, darting her attention back at him.
Stefan refrained from holding back his compliment and said, “Or should I say, you look hot.”
“Not again…”Ella responded with a chuckle, rolling her eyes at him.
“Why do you keep flirting like that” she said causing Stefan to arch his brow in questioning.
“I never flirt with you; it is always a sincere remark that you take the wrong way,” he corrected before they got into the car.
As she fastened her seatbelt and turned to face him, she asked, “And why do you do that?” her eyes glisten with amusement that caught Stefan stare at her intently.
Something about those gaze and the entire face did something to him that he couldn’t look away.
Stefan had seen plenty of attractive women, including models and actresses, but Ella stood out.
“Because it is just you,” he said, shocking Ella with his statement. Before she could even gather her thoughts, he continued.
“You are not like those girls who would throw themselves at the first attractive guy that they see,”
Stefan thought back to the evening he met her.
Drink after drink until she could no longer hold the glass, Ella was drowning herself and despite the large crowd, he eventually managed to catch a glimpse of her, which caused him to approach her without any difficulty.
