Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 85
Chapter 85: Do you miss me?
After wrapping up the entire meeting later that evening, Stefan and Ella made the decision to end the day and left the business meeting.
Stefan always rode his bike and drove home because he preferred to travel alone. However, just like every other day, he again invited Ella to go for a drive, to which she politely refused.
Ella did not talk to Stefan the entire afternoon because she was still upset with him for making fun of her. But when she began looking for a cab to take her home, that did not sit well with Stefan any longer.
“Come on, can’t be mad at me. It’s just a prank, El, and you know I apologized for it many times,” Stefan said, snatching the phone from her hand and turning it off.
Ella glared at Stefan and grabbed the phone once again, turning deaf to his word and continued to do her task.
Stefan had no clue why even after apologizing her many times she wasn’t letting it go. It was just a prank however Ella took it way too serious to the point that she started ignoring him.
The entire day she talked with him work related things and for the rest she didn’t even bat an eye at him.
Stefan wasn’t used to being ignored but Ella persisted on avoiding him to the point that he reached his limit.
“El, I am asking you for the last time. Are you going to forgive me or not?” Stefan sternly asked.
Ella paused for a second and darted her gaze towards Stefan only to find him gawking seriously at her.
She was not sure what to do, but she could tell he had reached his limits.
Ella was not sure whether his behavior infuriated him or her insecurity embarrassed her. However, Stefan was not assisting her and she really needed some time to gather her thoughts.
Call her immature, but Ella had never laughed off practical jokes, especially when they hurt her feelings. So in the end, she decided to stay firm on her ground and declined him.
“No,” she replied, leaving Stefan standing where he was.
Stefan’s gaze grew gloomy as they followed Ella as she made her way to the distant car waiting for her.
Stefan kept his gaze fixed on the vanishing figure before hopping onto his bike and stealthily following the car.
After twenty minutes, she finally reached home and the first thing she did was see Stefan stopping his bike at the distance.
She had already noticed him trailing her, and his actions did cause her heart to flutter a little.
Ella was too stubborn to make Stefan apologize for a joke that did not need to offend anyone, even though she knew she would not have brought up the subject if he had apologized.
Ella dropped the notion of speaking with Stefan and made haste to pay the fair before turning and heading inside the building.
She was walking toward the elevator when she felt a sudden grasp on her hand, which caused her to be violently pulled and crash into the nearby wall.
Ella’s eyes grew wide upon seeing Max standing in front of her, but a severe frown appeared on her face as she inhaled his alcoholic odor.
“Max, what are you doing? Please let me go!” Ella let out a cry and attempted to wriggle out of his grasp, but her strength was insufficient to overcome Max’s hold.
“Huh, what happened?” Ella wrinkled her nose in disgust, but Max just laughed and said, “Do you prefer being touched by young guys these days, now that my touch disgusts you?”
Ella was stunned by Max’s rambling remarks. She had no idea that he would bring her down by casting doubt on her morality.
“You dog, when you told me I was not enough, I should’ve smacked you that day. However, rest assured that I have not yet missed the opportunity.” Continuing to counter Max’s strength, Ella breathed heavily.
With a swift kick on his knees, she watched Max stumble and the next second, a tight slap ran across his face, leaving him speechless.
Ella laughed at his confused response, but the next instant Max leaped on her, preparing to slap her back when he felt another kick. came to rest directly on his back, landing him right before her legs.
“Stay away from her,” the man warned, sending a shiver down Max’s spine and he cried hysterically.

Gabriel, in the meantime, was already missing Eveline at the Winston Mansion.
He was left stranded by her departure and kept thinking about her to the point that he decided to give her a call. But each time he considered hitting the call button, he would pull his hand back, wondering if she would object.
“Would you please give her a call already? Would it make you stop missing her to see your phone?” Daniel, who had been watching Gabriel for a while, spoke.
While everyone was saddened by Eveline’s departure, Gabriel was the one who was most impacted.
Daniel went over and grabbed the phone out of Gabriel’s hand as soon as he showed signs of restlessness again.
“Do you wish to die, Daniel Winston?” He warned,, shooting daggers at him, however, Daniel rolled his eyes in response and hit the call button.
The ring went on for some time, and the call was answered.
“Hey Eve, my brother would like to speak with you,” he said, tossing the phone back at Gabriel and sprinting out of his room while winking.
“…”
Gabriel paused, cleared his throat, and held the phone up to his ear.
With caution, he said, “Hello.”
Eveline remained silent, but as soon as she heard him speak, she inquired, “What happened? I thought we weren’t supposed to study today.”
Eveline wanted to stay alone so she asked him to postpone the lesson for today. But with his sudden call she wondered if he had something to talk about.
“I know, but that’s no the reason why I called you” he said with a slow voice.
Eveline furrowed not understanding the purpose behind the call and asked,” So why did you call?”
Gabriel sighed as he leaned against the backboard of the bed. His breathing steady and he said,” I miss you”
A moment of silence follwed them before Gabriel decided to break the ice and asked,” Do you miss me?”
