Chapter 92: It’s never too late
Eveline had been wondering lately how her life had been different from her previous life, but she was unable to put her questions to rest until an unexpected flashback to her previous life occurred to her.
She could not place the exact moment he said it, but the voice that was just ringing in her ear made her think of someone.
Eveline experienced multiple episodes of emotional collapse, extending to the point of experiencing hallucinations. Sometimes, even with the right medication, she was unable to maintain her sanity.
Although she could not recall when she first became dependent on medications, she stopped taking them as soon as she learned she was pregnant.
Eveline’s hand instantly went to her stomach, remembering her child, and her eyes started to well up with tears.
“Are you still hungry?’ Eveline was startled out of her reverie by Gabriel’s voice, and she blinked quickly to clear her tears.
When he saw that her eyes had become red, Gabriel scowled.
“Are you crying?” he asked, quickly cupping her face.
Gabriel detested witnessing her tears, but since they only happened when he was around, he had no choice but to take responsibility for them.
With a shake of her head, Eveline removed his hand from her face.
“No, I am not. I believe something went in my eyes,” she pretended to smile while lying.
Though Gabriel didn’t bat it, he still decided to believe her.
“I need to go. Will you be alright without me for the whole day?” Gabriel questioned while stepping back.
Even though he did not feel like leaving, he had to go because the situation required his attention and was crucial.
“And what makes you think that I can not function without you? You force me to follow you around, even though you do not tag me all the time throughout the day. There is, in fact, a difference between fine and forced. Therefore, I assure you, I will be just fine without you,” she stated, rolling her eyes and standing up to leave.
Gabriel could only shake his head helplessly and follow her like a lost puppy, realizing there was no way this girl was ever going to open up to him and act indifferent.

After getting off the bus, Tiffany made her way over to the bakery.
Gracey was the first person she became suspicious of as soon as she saw that note. She decided to check up on her and find out what she was up to these days to dispel her suspicion.
Tiffany may exude confidence, but she would never have wanted to be the one to search far and wide for the offender only to discover it was right in front of her.
She continued to walk until she eventually arrived at the bakery, where Gracey was serving customers.
It would be a haste to walk inside just like that, so she decided to hide.
“Miss, are you looking for something?” Tiffany gasped in response to the woman who had acknowledged her presence.
Tiffany instantly forced a smile and shook her head, even though she was mentally cursing the woman for being so prickly.
“What happened, Mom?”
Tiffany guarded the woman who was her mother, but when Gracey appeared, her eyes widened and she was taken aback.
Her face turned ghostly white and her lips quivered in fear.
“Hi, Gracey.” Tiffany smiled and waved her hand, brushing off the awkward situation.
“I came here in search of my friend,” she continued, turning to face her mother, who scowled in reply.

“Did you come from college?” the lady asked and Tiffany nodded.
“But you said you had a week off from college, didn’t you?” she asked, turning skeptically at Gracey.
Tiffany looked at Gracey hysterically, somewhat pondering over the situation that seemed a little confusing not to them but to the lady who happened to think that they were on break.
‘Does that imply Gracey has not informed her parents about her suspension yet?’
Tiffany quickly cracked up a wicked smile at the realization.
“I believe you are wrong, Aunty. We were never given a week off from college. Gracey is actually on a one-week suspension,” she disclosed, leaving the woman in utter disbelief.
Tiffany watched with narrowed eyes as Gracey looked at her mother, who appeared genuinely shocked by the news.
“Gracey, you are on suspension? Why did you lie to us?” Tiffany watched in shock as the woman questioned her daughter.
‘She is not the one,’ Tiffany said, glancing at Gracey, who sobbed quietly, avoiding her mother’s questioning eyes.

Jacob was so enraged by Jonathan’s warning that he went back home and began throwing everything around
He ended up taking out his frustration on the objects to make himself feel better, smashing everything from the little television to the vase.
The way Jonathan defended Susan infuriated him.
There has always been a bane in his heart whenever it came to their relationship.
He hated Susan, who worked for Jonathan and took care of his daughter, and she persisted in breaking his word even after being told no.
Regardless of how many times Susan rejected his claim, his doubts would only grow until he drank himself to death.
Years went by, but the emptiness in his heart never went away. No matter how hard he tried, his heart would not accept it.
Sitting between the mess, he smirked as he removed the money from his pocket.
His eyes became red and he felt like crying, but it was not from pain; rather, it was from the resentment he had grown toward Jonathan over the years.
Despite knowing that he could not fight a man like him any longer, Jacob would do whatever it took to hold him accountable for the dismay he caused in his life.
Even after pleading with him to assist him, he continued to end their collaboration, abandoning him.
“Jonathan, I used to think of you as a good friend, but that is no longer the case. It is false that you harbor affection for my spouse and have supported her in the past.” His eyes turned gloomy as he continued to look at the money in his hand.
Jacob mumbled, crumbling the money in his hand and throwing it away. “This money you threw at me, just wait until I take away all of your wealth,”
He got up and began to look around the mess when something caught his attention. He snatched it up right away and smirked.
“It is never too late to start to repent of your mistake,” he said as he hurriedly left the house with the plan to call the number on it.

As classes ended, everyone began to slowly exit the main building.
Eveline too walked and headed towards the parking area when her eyes caught sight of Gabriel waiting for her.
“I supposed you were out for an urgent meeting. How come you are back on time?” Eveline questioned, a look of disbelief in her eyes.
Gabriel approached her and took hold of her backpack, saying, “Our time together is more important than any meeting.
With a simple eye roll, Eveline and Gabriel hopped in the car and drove off from the college.

[Inside the car]
“Where did you go?” Eveline asked out of curiosity.
Eveline became curious as to why Gabriel felt the need to leave right away because she knew he would not leave her alone for even a moment.
“I had a meetup with Dr. Lilith,” he said.
“Is she the doctor who was handling Alex’s case?” Eveline asked.
He looked thoughtfully at her and remarked, “Hmm and she would be one of the doctors for the medical camp.”
If Gabriel’s plan to expose Alex in front of the entire college proceeds as planned, Dean will be able to remove him from Aspen without any delay.
However, Eveline was struck by Gabriel’s honesty when he stated that he had already begun according to plan. But even so, she continued to harbor a small fear in the back of her mind and hoped that everything would work out.
“Eveline, please stop staring at me, or else I will forget we are not alone and kiss you,” Gabriel said, causing her to startle and clumsily clear her throat.
“Who said I was staring at you?” she muttered, darting her eyes to the other side so she could see the outside of the window.
Gabriel’s remarks were like an arrow that landed exactly where it needed to, making her heart race.
As she continued to distract her thoughts, she realized that they weren’t going home; instead, he took her somewhere else.
Eveline darted her wide at Gabriel, obviously not believing that he was taking her to Platinum, the largest library in City P.
“There is no way you remember me telling this,” Eveline said.
“There is nothing about you that I don’t remember,” saying he walked out of the car with them, walking inside the tall library.
Gabriel wanted to spend some time alone with Eveline, teaching her without any disturbance.
He remember just one day Eveline randomly told him about this place. Even though students knew about it, they did not come here very often.
