Chapter 98: She cannot be trusted
While the medical camp was being conducted carefully on every student from every department, students from every year gathered in the auditorium at the same time.
The doctors were assigned distinct rooms to conduct the examinations, making it easier to manage the medical program.
Eveline was also finished with her counseling and needed check-up, but she was disappointed that she was not sent to Dr. Lilith’s room.
As soon as she turned to go, Gabriel moved to get in her way.
“Have you seen Alex?” He asked.
Eveline noticed fear in his tone and asked, “No, what happened?”
Gabriel, who was assigned to assist Dr. Lilith, discovered Alex’s absence. It was his turn, but the boy wasn’t there.
“Do you think he ran off learning about Dr. Lilith?” she inquired, jumping to one conclusion.
“I don’t think so. If he did, Stefan would have told me. I had him keep an eye on the campus surveillance simply to make sure everything was in order and the boy didn’t escape away.”
Gabriel had carefully prepared everything, but Alex’s temperament made it difficult to foresee his thoughts.
“Wait, let me call him,” Eveline said abruptly, unlocking her phone to call Alex, only to hesitate when she noticed him approaching them.
“There he is,” Eveline motioned with her eyes, and Gabriel immediately excused himself back into the room before Alex could see them.
Evelike raced up and stopped in front of him.
“Alex, where have you been? The staff has been calling out your name for the checkup,” she continued, maintaining a normal tone.
Eveline had been watching Alex since they gathered in the auditorium hall. His eyes were constantly filled with reflection and apprehension throughout the surgery. But she was certain he was unaware of the workers handling them.
Alex gave Eveline a concerned look and nodded before heading to the allotted room.
Eveline was eager for the conclusion, and because Alex’s case was serious and could not be managed with simple counseling, they were convinced that the institution would take matters into his hands and ask him to leave for his own safety.
While Eveline excused herself and walked to her classroom, she ran into Gracey, who was also heading her way.
The instant their eyes met, a sense of unease rushed over them, highlighting the anxiety that drew Eveline’s attention.

[Somewhere in the college]
“You mean to say Tiffany purposely broke the truth before your mother?” Eveline asked after hearing Gracey’s bitter words.
Eveline expected Tiffany to go behind Gracey, but given her cowardice, it was surprising that she still intended to harm Gracey by exposing her lie.
“If only I had a chance to get back at her. I promise I’m going to make her pay for all she did to me. Gracey was furious that Tiffany, despite being her friend, had slandered her.
Eveline took a long breath, absorbing Gracey’s frustrating remarks.
“I know who was the one who sent you those threatful notes”
Her statements piqued Gracey’s interest, and she stared at her suspiciously.
“It’s Tiffany,” she revealed, leaving Gracey more than surprised by her confirmation.
Eveline meant to inform Gracey of Tiffany’s plan, but she waited until the proper time.

She promised to keep her suspension a secret in exchange of the truth. But now she wanted her to know everything.
Eveline stepped in and told Gracey Tiffany’s motives, which ranged from friendship to using her as a scapegoat to carry out her plan.
“She cannot be trusted with anything. Since the beginning, she had been deceiving everyone into believing her falsehood. But reality is far more twisted than we could possibly fathom.
Gracey was left speechless. Everything she discovered about Tiffany was difficult to swallow.
How could she be so naive as to believe her lies when all she did was exploit her to get back at Eveline?
“I considered her a friend, but she fooled me. How can she be so crafty?” Gracey asked, depressed by the truth of her life.

Concurrently, the medical camp effectively concluded, revealing that a subset of students did, in fact, suffer from mental illness. He was certain that Dr. Lilith would identify Alex as one of the students who was too unstable to attend college at all.
Gabriel was patiently waiting in the lobby for the list to be posted on the notice board when he noticed Eveline approaching him.
“Is the list out?” She asked, standing next to him.
“Not yet, but don’t worry, I’m sure it will work in our favor,” he responded confidently.
After a few minutes, a clerk appeared with the list in hand and posted it on the noticeboard.
Eveline and Gabriel dashed to the board and looked for a certain name.
“Why isn’t his name mentioned?” Eveline expressed her disappointment at not seeing Alex’s name anywhere.
Gabriel, who was taken aback, examined the list closely. Even after a thorough examination, he could not find Alex’s name anywhere.
“Something is wrong,” Gabriel whispered, a sense of dread entering his heart as he remembered Lilith drawing a circle around Alex’s name.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the college, a woman wearing a labcoat dashed inside the vacant room and dialed a number.
Her hand trembled and her body sweated from dread, making her appear much more worried.
“H-Hello, I did what you requested. “Now, please spare my mother’s life,” Lilith pleaded throughout the call.
“Good, I have spared your mother’s life, but if you tell anyone about this, I swear to kill everyone of you,” he warned from the other side before hanging up on her.
