Chapter 450: Demon Royals and Cat-Tales ( 450 )
“No way!!” Javier growled, trying to wiggle out of her iron grip.
“First of all—get OFF!!”
“Nya~ shy human~” Mimi giggled, still latched onto him like a backpack with a tail, her cheek pressed against his shoulder.
Javier’s eye twitched.
His patience—legendary in battle—was not built for clingy cat royalty.
“Eeeeeekkkkk!!” he finally yelled, twisting and managing to wrestle free, her arms sliding off him like overcooked noodles.
She flopped dramatically onto the bench with a sleepy pout.
“Meanie…”
Javier didn’t look back.
He was already walking toward the guards, bare-chested, eyes dead, dignity in critical condition.
“Just give me the damn entry paperwork…”
The guards scrambled, nearly tripping over themselves to hand him the official documents.
“S-Sir Javier! Of course! R-Right away!”
Buddy waddled behind him like an overly fluffy bodyguard, squawking once and flaring his feathers protectively between Javier and Mimi.
Back at the bench, Mimi sat cross-legged, her tail swaying slowly behind her as she watched him go with a dreamy look in her eyes.
“Mm… I’m definitely gonna marry him.”
One of the guards dared to whisper, “Princess, maybe we should wait for your father to approve—”
She turned her head slowly, her eyes glowing just a little.
“Did you say something?”
“N-No, Your Highness!”
“Hands off!” Javier snapped, barely dodging as Mimi crept up behind him with arms outstretched, as if she were about to hug him again.
Mimi giggled, her tail swishing behind her.
“Woooo~ so prickly. I like it~”
Javier shot her a sharp look over his shoulder.
“Nope. Nope. I’m on a mission. A serious one. Monster cleanup, corruption traces, border sweep—ring any bells?”
Mimi skipped beside him effortlessly, completely ignoring his glare.
“Me too~” she sang”
“What?”
“That’s why Father told me to meet you here.” She gave him a bright smile, as if this had all been very official and not something she decided while half-asleep.
Javier stopped walking.

“…Wait. What?”
Mimi nodded proudly, her ears twitching.
“Yep! Something about corrupted stuff creeping too close to our borders. He said, ‘Go meet the Armand boy and work with him,’ or something.”
She tilted her head and poked his side.
“So we’re partners now~ Nyaa~”
Javier stared blankly ahead.
“…Why me.”
Buddy looked up at him with a mix of pity and amusement.
“Nyaa?” Mimi said, tilting her head as if she just remembered something halfway through a thought. “I don’t think it’s just us~”
Javier narrowed his eyes. “…What do you mean?”
Mimi clasped her hands behind her back, her tail swaying.
“King Veldrac’s little sister is supposed to join us too~ Father said it was an inter-kingdom collaboration or something.”
She tapped her chin, blinking.
“…I think I left her somewhere.”
“You what?”
Before Javier could ask for clarification—
“MIMI!!!!”
A voice roared from down the stone corridor near the guest complex.
Rapid footsteps echoed as guards scrambled to move out of the way.
A girl stormed into view, flanked by confused-looking royal beastkin guards, who were clearly unsure if they were escorting her or being dragged along for dear life.
She was about Javier’s age, with smooth pale skin, long black hair streaked with violet, and two small, curved horns peeking out from beneath her bangs. Her eyes blazed with fury.
“You LEFT ME?!” she barked, fangs slightly showing as she stomped toward Mimi.
Mimi smiled sweetly and offered a casual wave.
“Ah~ There you are. I wondered where you were.”
“You ‘wondered’?! You disappeared for a whole day and night!! I thought you went to wash your face!!”
“Whoops~”
“WHOOPS?!”
Then she turned—and froze.
Because standing just a few steps away was Javier De Armand.
Half-dressed.
Still shirtless.
Tall, calm, sharp-eyed, with a silver crest on his cloak, and a posture that screamed “competent teen protagonist who probably destroys monsters for breakfast.”
Her eyes slowly ran from his face, down to his chest, and back up again.
Then she looked at Mimi.
Then at Javier again.
Then back at Mimi.
“…Is this why you left me behind?”
Mimi beamed. “Yup~ He’s cute, right?”
The demon girl stared at Javier, completely unsure if she was angry, confused… or deeply interested.
Delya’s fiery steps slowed as she approached, her eyes fixed on Javier.
She tilted her head slightly, a graceful hand rising to brush back a lock of hair behind one horn. Her tone shifted—no longer shouting, but smooth, composed… regal.
“Oh~… Handsome.”
Javier blinked.
“…Huh?”
She walked right up to him, her posture refined, chin slightly raised like a proper noble lady. Her crimson eyes lingered on his face, then calmly down to his bare chest. And then back up.
“You’re definitely my type.”
Javier took a half step back.
“Hold on. What?”
She offered a small, dignified bow—just enough to show elegance, not submission.
“My name is Delya. Princess of the Demon Kingdom. King Veldrac is my elder brother.”
Then she extended her hand, palm open.
“It is an honor to meet the famed youngest son of House Armand.”
Javier looked at her, then at her hand, and then at Mimi, who was grinning like she had just won a bet with herself.
Mimi whispered proudly, “She’s super polite, but she punches dragons in the face when she’s mad.”
Delya ignored her entirely, eyes still on Javier.
“You may take my hand. Or not. Either way, I’ve decided I’ll accompany you.”
“Nope! Nope!!” Javier threw his hands up in protest, stepping back as the two girls closed in like smiling wolves in royal ribbons. “I’m going on this mission alone.”
Mimi tilted her head innocently, her ears perked.
“My my~ So shy in the morning~”
Delya gave a small, composed nod, her hands folded neatly in front of her.
“Understandable. But unnecessary.”
“I’m serious,” Javier growled. “This mission is dangerous. Extremely. Father didn’t say anything about collaboration or support—or babysitting royalty.”
Delya smiled softly, as if she were about to correct a misbehaving attendant.
“But my brother told me Lord Garius himself suggested this partnership.”
Mimi perked up.
“Nya? Same! Father said it was Lord Garius’s idea too~ Said something about ‘trust only his bloodline if it gets worse.'”
Javier’s eyes slowly widened.
“…Huh?”
He blinked, looking at Delya, then at Mimi, and back to Delya.
Then he muttered under his breath, “…Father. Why.”
Javier turned his gaze to the sky as if it might explain something.
