Chapter 313: Another subsidiary
“As an honorary Rebornian, you are entitled to some benefits,” he said to Tony and Remy.
The father and son duo both went wide-eyed as Michael listed out all the advantages that a Rebornian had privilege of having. Guaranteed housing in the Nation of Reborn, guaranteed jobs, and a free Talent Awakening were just some of the things that made it all seem like a dream instead of reality.
That last part was already enough for Tony to be willing to sell the entirety of his business to Michael. After all, the only reason he had been keeping up the restaurant despite it not succeeding was because he wanted to give his son a chance to awaken.
But now, Michael was willing to give that as a bonus! Tony would probably faint if he knew that Michael could customize skills to give to his son.
“Yes! We would like to become Rebornians!”
Tony was quick to change once he learned about Rebornian benefits. Even though the details of their contract still hadn’t been ironed out, he was already willing to sign it even if it was unfavorable to him.
“Take my recipe!” Tony blurted out.
Of course, Michael wasn’t going to do him wrong. “No, I’m going to let you decide everything about the restaurant. You can decide what to cook, what to sell, and what to do. I’m just going to stay by the sidelines. This restaurant is still your heirloom,” Michael promised him.
“Hear that, Remy? He says that you can awaken your talent once you turn ten!”
The little boy gleamed just as happy as his father. “I want to be a chef just like you papa!”
The two hugged each other before Tony turned to Michael. There was an excitement in his eyes, a fire for cooking that had been relit in his soul. Finally, the results of all the years toiling in an unsuccessful restaurant had finally born fruit.
“What should I do? I can cook about ten whole chickens a day if I need to.”
Michael flashed a smile. “I want you to do a hundred.”
Tony’s face froze. “A…a hun–hundred?!”
“Yup,” Michael nodded. “And we’ll create a whole new restaurant outside of Angora City in the middle of nowhere, but right beside one of the Reborn Truck Stops.”
His words felt like a thousand tonnes of metal being put on Tony’s shoulder consecutively. Cooking a hundred chickens was already nigh impossible from the get go. But now, Michael wanted him to sell chicken outside of civilization as well! This made him start to doubt whether Michael wanted the restaurant to succeed or to go bankrupt!
In Tony’s mind, if he had few customers now, he’d have even fewer customers once they moved outside a capital city.
“How are we going to get customers there?”
One of the Engineers listening to their conversation chimed in. “There are an estimated 6,000 people travelling along this particular road and about 19,000 people travelling in total in the entirety of the Golden Road in the Queens region.”
“Really?!?!” Tony blurted out.
The Satyr Engineer may be munching on chicken as he spoke, but his words were nothing but the truth. ChatJK4 verified it as well.
“Yep. And it’s estimated to grow more than that once our expansion to the East is complete,” Michael added.
Tony was overwhelmed by this number, but he was still skeptical about the whole plan.
“But what about the chicken? I don’t have enough livestock to cook that many meals in a day.”
“Don’t worry about the chickens,” Michael said. “I have another subsidiary under Reborn that specializes in farming and livestock. Have you ever heard of Barcus Inc.?”
Now, that name did sound familiar to Tony. “The Barcus Inc.? I know most high-end restaurants in Angora City get their crops from them!”
When they became a subsidiary of Reborn, Michael was able to see all the assets and territories under Barcus. In the luscious green forests of the Grafted Cluster, about 40% of all the farms and livestock present in the area were all owned by one company: Barcus Inc.
Chickens were just one of the animals there that they had plenty of. It’s not enough to last a lifetime of course, but it’s enough for the restaurant to get started.
ChatJK4, remind me to have the Rebornian Farmers come take a look at our farms in the Grafted Cluster to see if they can improve yield.

“The only problem that I think we’ll have is the Dragon’s Whiskers. Where do you source these herbs from?” Michael asked.
“I get it from the wet markets early in the morning. There’s not a lot of merchants who sell it. There are even some days where no one sells it at all.”
Michael pursed his lips. “Where do you think these merchants get it from?”
“Although Dragon’s Whiskers grow everywhere in the Queens region, it has been widely accepted that there is no feasible way to farm them. You have to find them out in the wild, which is why it is so expensive.”
This indeed posed a problem for the restaurant that Michael planned, at least for the long term. But short term, this problem was easy to solve: just throw a bunch of money until it has all worked out.
“I’ll have my people buy out every available Dragon’s Whiskers in the market. If that’s not enough, I’ll just issue out a mission in the Adventuring Guilds. I’m sure they’ll jump at the chance given enough bounties for it.”
Michael began to calculate everything with ChatJK4, ending up with the estimate of about—
“One million gold coins should do it,” Michael said out loud.
His casualness and willingness to spend about a million gold to solve this problem truly opened the eyes of a normal human like Tony. He couldn’t even fathom such a number, yet Michael was nodding his head as if it was an acceptable number.
Of course, if money could solve everything, then Michael would have no problems. He wished he could just burn money and solve his current dilemmas.
“Either way, you don’t have to worry about anything. You just need to cook and serve it to our customers.”
Tony couldn’t even speak and just nodded his head as he gave up on questioning Michael. The boy was too rich.
“I’ll let you deal with it,” Tony said, sitting down in the chair, only for it to collapse into splinters.
…
…
…
Michael brought Tony and Remy back to the Reborn Headquarters. Of course, he let Remy take everything he wanted in the Department Store while he and Tony consulted with Yuna about the contract.
“Another subsidiary company again? Who did you hoodwink this time?” Yuna teased Michael.
She then turned to Tony. “Be careful with this guy. He says he’ll give you something, but he ends up forgetting about it…AHEM…my ice cream…AHEM!”
“I’m working on it!”
“Sure you are,” Yuna harrumphed and turned her head away from Michael. “Anyway, this is the contract for becoming a subsidiary of the Reborn company. Please sign here and here.”
Tony did as Yuna told him and inked his name onto the contract paper.
And it was time for Michael’s turn, the paper mysteriously slapped his head gently.
He signed the contract, and finally, a new subsidiary was added to Reborn!
“Let’s name your new company. What do you think of McTony’s?”
