Chapter 338: Small trip for the Fairies
“So? Can we go see this rollercoaster now?” Vivi asked, buzzing excitedly around Michael’s face.
The other Fairies who were also expectant of this roller coaster copied Vivi’s actions and began to pester Michael.
“It’s not that easy to create, you know. We have a lot of factors to take in before we even start planning its construction. First, we have to deal with the location. A roller coaster needs stable footing so that it won’t crumble under its own weight. I have to take into account the speed rating…”
Michael’s words entered one ear of the Fairies and out the other. They were completely disinterested in hearing about the nitty gritty details, nor could they understand his Earth Engineering concepts.
“Enough about that. Where will you build it?” Vivi asked.
“Ideally, I want it in the Nation of Reborn.”
This was actually one of the dilemmas Michael faced recently. After all, he wanted the roller coaster constructed in the wide spaces of the Parched Lands so that he could expand it more in the future. However, this project was mainly for the Fairies. And in order to benefit from the Fear induced by this ride, they would have to move all the way to the Nation of Reborn to harvest emotions.
Fairies couldn’t just pack up and leave their forest so easily, especially if they had their own pocket dimension here.
“Ooooh! That’s a good idea. I want to see the Nation of Reborn too!” Vivi said, innocently.
“Me too!”
“I want to see your stories in real life, Mr. Reborn!”
Michael didn’t expect this response from them. He thought they would argue to have the roller coaster constructed in the forest.
“But what about this place?” he asked them.
“Pssh,” Vivi snorted, waving off his concerns. “It’s not like we’re leaving here. We’ll just visit it for a few hundred years, no big deal.”
He looked at the other Fairies and they seemed to have the same sentiment as Vivi.
He almost forgot that some demi-humans lived far longer than humans, with some even reaching a thousand year lifespan.
“Come on, guys! Let’s go visit Reborn!” Vivi rallied, with the other Fairies excitedly flying out of the village with no hesitation at all.
“Wait, wait, wait. That easily?!”
They didn’t even pack up their clothes or anything. It looked like they were just going on a stroll for a couple of minutes, when in reality, the Nation of Reborn was thousands of kilometers away from here..
“Come on, let’s go!” Vivi said, pulling on Michael’s cuff. He was the only left in the village, as the other Fairies were already well on their way out of the forest.
“Won’t Virian get mad at you for going away without permission?”
More than half of the Fairy population suddenly deserted their village. He didn’t want Virian to think that he abducted them or something.
And if his guess was right and she was the Pixie Queen, then he especially didn’t want to get on her bad side.
“Don’t worry about mom,” Vivi said, pulling harder on his clothes. “She’s busy looking at ancient leaf scrolls for a while. She won’t get out of the house for another month.”
This was a complete culture shock for Michael. Fairies’ lives were so long that they treated a months’ long journey as equivalent to just a quick stroll around the park. Even their reading sessions could go as long as an entire month!
“I guess it’s fine…”
“Of course it is!” Vivi assured him. “Now, let’s go to your Nation!”

Michael led the Fairies out of the forest.
Once they were out of the pocket dimension, the Fairies phased into reality as bright spots of light floating in the air.
Vivi explained to him that Fairies lost the ability to turn themselves invisible once they were outside the forest, but they could still shapeshift into a ball of light so that they could camouflage themselves in front of the sun’s brightness.
This led into a strange situation for Michael as he walked alongside a hundred or so bright spherical spots of light that buzzed around like fireflies. Thankfully though, they soon disappeared into the air and blended in with the sun as a camouflage, just like how the Orcs hid in the shadows.
He travelled back to the Golden Road project and told them that they could continue to work without problems.
“Are you sure boss?” asked the Yellow HobMankey onsite engineer. “What if those Fairies harass us again?”
Just then, a bright spot of light dropped from the skies and showed her true form to the Rebornians.
“That won’t happen again!” Vivi said, her hands on her waist.
“Woah!”
“Boss?! Who is she?”
“Is she a Fairy?!”
The Rebornians were surprised to see a Fairy face to face. They only ever saw them on books or scrolls.
“Yep! I am,” Vivi said with pride. “Michael made a promise to us, so we won’t harass you again, nu uh!”
“Oh…I see. That makes sense.”
“As expected of our boss!”
“Then, we shall proceed with the Golden Road immediately,” said the onsite engineer.
This time, the Rebornians weren’t surprised. In fact, they already expected it. Michael tended to solve problems that others would oftentimes consider impossible.
“Hey! You’re the one in charge of this thing here, right? Can we see how you operate those automobiles?!” Vivi pestered the HobMankey Engineer, flying across his face multiple times.
Eventually, one of the drivers relented and got on the automobile and showed Vivi and the Fairies how to drive.
The poor lizardfolk driver almost crashed into a tree when almost a hundred bright white lights entered his car, blinding him when he was driving it.
“Oops! Hehe, but we were just curious how these metal creatures work. Are you sure they’re not living beings? They eat fuel, they move, and they even release droppings as smoke!”
That was not the first argument he’d heard about this. For most, her words made sense, which was part of the reason why a lot of people believed in the words of the Iron Maiden religion.
“We need to learn how to drive if we want to get to the Kings region,” Vivi argued.
The Fairies had already found a way to drive, surprisingly. Ten fairies were on the pedals and another ten were on the steering wheels. Michael doubted whether this would work, but he didn’t want to find out.
“There’s no need for that,” he said to them. “We can just teleport directly to the Parched Lands.”
Michael’s shadow spread out around him, encompassing an entire 5 meter radius.
With a simple twist of his wrist, Vivi and the rest of the Fairies found themselves contained inside a large dome of pure darkness, even blacker than the night sky in their pocket dimension.
A moment after that, the shadows rescinded back into Michael’s feet, revealing a completely different environment for Vivi and the Fairies.
The dense and green forestry of the East was suddenly replaced by these towering metal buildings around them.
And in front of them, they saw the road where automobile cars were riding left and right.
Humans and demi-humans in formal and casual attire walked along the streets, waiting for the light on the curb to turn green so they could cross.
As far as the Fairies were concerned, this was an alien world.
