Chapter 581: Stealing a coffin.
With reassurance from the Saxon spirit, Phoebe spoke up. “You win; we will leave.”

“We what?” Maureen nearly screamed, shocked at the sudden turn of events.

“We are leaving.” Phoebe repeated her words, sterner than before. She touched her grandmother’s shoulder, and the older woman got the message.

She figured there was a good reason why Phoebe was saying this. Moreover, Obed had returned, and he was not putting up much of an argument. “Well, we troublemakers will not be attending this funeral I guess.” She looked at Morgan with eyes that held some sorrow. “I may not like you Morgan, but I am sorry for your loss. Obed was one of the good ones….he was annoying but good at heart.”

Obed lifted his eyes to old lady Mayfair, shocked by her words. A part of him was touched and he actually wanted to cry.

The group left as quickly as they had come–quicker even as Phoebe did not want them to be stopped on the way. From the Montgomery house, they all went straight to Alfa security.

Phoebe figured it was the last place the Montgomery’s would go looking for them. Also, there was a crematorium on property grounds and the body could be burned from there.

Only Phoebe had been to Alfa security, the others were new to the territory which had been enlarged. David had bought out all the nearby houses and buildings, turning the small area into his territory.

Everyone else was rather surprised to discover this and they curiously looked around. They saw some shady looking individuals. All the men and women seemed to be carrying weapons of different kinds.

“He has gone Elithera on us.” Old lady Mayfair commented.

David laughed. “I would not put it that way.” He was involving hunters in his operations. This was in a way, his very own secret little underground gang.

“So, this is your bat cave.” Maureen commented.

“You could say so, but you cannot tell anyone that you have been here, not even my family. Under normal circumstances I would blind fold you, but everyone here has bigger secrets than mine. Still, Maureen, grandma, keep this off out of your gossip group.” His voice was very somber and colder than a grave.

Old lady Mayfair who was deleting the text she had been about to send her friend Prudence about what her grandson was up to looked up and smiled nervously. “Who would we even tell? I am an old woman that spends her day serving coffee. I have a job, no time to gossip.”

Everyone laughed or snorted, and she glared at them.

“Ophelia is this where you brought her? I clearly heard her say that your man tortured her and this seems like the place for it.” Rekha asked, suddenly seeing David in a different light.

He seemed to be making his own preparations for the supernatural war. Not just the war but the protection of their families as well.

As they entered the main house, David responded to Rekha’s question. “Yes, this is my very own torture chamber, even Ruth was here once and so were her parents. All the people that hurt Phoebe intentionally and unintentionally tend to visit for a while.” The words slipped out, effortlessly and unburdened.

Giggling uncontrollably like a child with a secret, Maureen stared at David_amused. “So nephew, this is a torture chamber created to take vengeance for your wife when she is wronged? How romantic!! I love it!” She howled with mirth.

Grandma Mayfair did not know how to feel about the whole thing, torture made her queasy but one thing she knew was that David would never hurt innocent people, whoever was brought here deserved it.

Besides, if the choice was between her loved ones being tortured or their enemies being tortured, the choice was simple.

The mini tour continued as they walked deeper into the house. Maureen paused when she passed by an artillery room and saw many different weapons, ancient and modern. David was preparing for a small war it seemed.

The Saxon spirit meanwhile gestured to Phoebe that everything was ready.

“Let us go to the coffin now, are the girls alive?” Phoebe asked the spirit.

Nodding its head, the spirit brought relief to everyone. “Unconscious but alive, if I had gotten there a second later, they would have died. They don’t just bury them alive; they put carbon dioxide in the coffins to make sure they die.” The spirit explained. “I hope it is okay that we brought a coffin and dead body here.” its eyes glued on David as if to seek for approval.

Flicking his fingers dismissively, David nodded once. “You did good by bringing that coffin here.” He opened the door that led to the basement.

Four of his men led by Roman followed them to the door. “We will stay out here boss, call us in when you need us.” Roman notified him, tapping his ear, reminding David to use a microphone if necessary.

“Has Ophelia said anything?” David asked, halting his steps.

A sigh came from Sean. “She is a stubborn woman, even after pulling out a few nails and teeth that woman won’t say a word. All she says is that we should kill her because her master will avenge her death.” He dragged the words out.

Maureen cracked her knuckles. “Maybe I should give it a try, I will hurt her in places that your men have never heard about.” The words erupted from her, hot and jagged.

“Yeah, I highly doubt that but i am willing to see you try.” A laugh, as sharp as a splinter, punctuated Sean’s reply.

“Boy, don’t try me.” Maureen replied with sass as they moved deeper in the basement which reeked of faint blood and bleach.

Phoebe smiled in a challenging way. “I want to give it a try as well; Ophelia is the perfect rat to practice my dark magic on.” She stated before entering a bright room that was designed an equipped like an autopsy room.

The coffin lay there on a table open and just like Obed had told them, two girls slept beside him.

“I will be damned; they are dressed like brides. It seems Montgomery funerals also moonlight as weddings. They have probably realized that it is missing right about now. Morgan must be going crazy wondering how the coffin vanished from her home.” Grandma Mayfair couldn’t help but giggle.

Maureen moved closer to the coffin. “Unless she is stupid, she will suspect us, I mean in one moment we are telling her to cremate Obed then his body disappears in the next? We are perfect suspects.” She gave her thoughts on the matter. “They certainly didn’t scrimp on these bridal crimson dresses and make up. They even included gold coins worth what…..”

Andre snapped a photograph. “Twelve mil…give or take one million. It is too bad my movie wrapped up filming or else this would have been added. Are we going to keep the gold coins because that is creepy. Would it make us grave robbers?”

“Err..guys.” Obed waved his hands, calling their attention to himself. “I cannot thank you enough for all your help in rescuing me. Now please quickly burn my body or throw it in a drum of acid. I do not care how you choose to dispose of it just please do not let those Montgomery’s get their hands on my body again.”
