Reborn in the Enemy's Embrace - Chapter 342
Chapter 342: CHAPTER 342 Chapter 342: CHAPTER 342 Damien was also present in the laboratory.
He looked at Dexter with a complicated gaze.
Daisy walked over and hugged Miguel’s arm.
She was fully convinced that the person inside Damien’s body was actually Miguel.
Unfortunately, she was wrong “Must you really do this, Daisy?’ Miguel asked, conflicted.
Daisy chuckled and replied, “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.” She was confident that Dexter would ensure the success of the experiment for Sophia’s sake.
“Everything will be alright, and we’ll stay together happily.” Daisy held onto Miguel’s hand, smiling hopefully.
Dexter looked at her indifferently.
Sophia would never be free if these lunatics were still alive.
Daisy’s laboratory exploded, causing severe disturbance from under Huma University.
The police and fire department arrived at the scene quickly.
A laboratory hidden in the middle of Huma’s city center was now exposed to the public.
Humans could never resist the temptation of genome editing.
Everyone wanted to play creator, but was it truly a good thing to recklessly edit and alter genes?
The exposure of the genome editing underground laboratory caused a global sensation.
Both Sofia and Dexter were victims of this explosion, yet they only managed to find Sofia’s body.
I couldn’t remember how long I had been unconscious in the villa on the mountain.
My mind felt foggy, as if my instincts and nature were suppressed by medication.
I felt as if I’d lost a lot of blood from the nosebleed.
This body felt foreign to me.
“I’m so jealous of you, Sophia.
Why was it that you got to meet your star while we were left in the dark, even though we’re all clone subjects?
You have to live on with my body, Sophia.
I’m willing to give you my body.
“Keep on living, Sophia.
Keep on living for our sake.’ A despairing voice echoed in my mind-it was Una.
She was asking me to keep on living for their sake.
All of the third-generation clone subjects were perfect.
The only thing that couldn’t be overcome was the law of natural destruction.
Such a law dictated that clone subjects would develop severe issues like depression or bipolar disorder once they reached a certain age.

They would begin to experience mania, irritability, loss of physical control, and their souls would crave death.
As they were not naturally born beings, they couldn’t change their fates or avoid death.
They were hollow within.
They wanted to-and had to-die.
“Do you know that there are cases in nature where animals commit mass suicide, Sophia?
There’s an unseen force that’s controlling the paths of all living things.
Our existence isn’t allowed by god, Sophia.
We’re born into hell.” I felt as if I had seen Una in the stark white laboratory while in a daze.
She smiled at me before gradually disappearing.
There was a blinding light, and I couldn’t open my eyes.
My final memory stayed on Dexter’s face.
“Sophia?” He tried calling my name.
He seemed relieved the moment I opened my eyes.
He then injected a syringe into my neck.
“Go to sleep, Sophia.
It’ll all end when you open your eyes again.” Dexter always seemed to recognize me instantly regardless if I was in Sofia’s or Una’s body.
I wondered how he managed to identify me with such precision.
“Sophia…” I heard someone calling in my ear once again.
But the voice had gone from Dexter’s to Damien’s.
I had recovered my memories.
Dexter couldn’t erase memories-he could only seal them away temporarily for various reasons.
It was similar to using electrical stimulation to precisely hide certain memories.
However, everything would come flooding back once triggered.
I opened my eyes abruptly, looking at the ceiling with a quickened breath.
I had regained all my memories-not only that of Dexter but those that I never recalled in the past.
Everything would be back to its original track.
“Sophia?” Damien looked at me nervously.
He reached out to hug me.
I slapped him almost instinctively, my voice low when I said, “Get out.” Damien was frozen in place.
His gaze at me gradually shifted from concern to fear.
He was probably aware that I had recovered all my memories.
‘Sophia…
I Ignored him and got off the bed to stretch my arms.
I felt comfortable using this body as it perfectly matched my genes.
I smiled when I saw my reflection in the glass.
Everything was progressing smoothly according to my plan, except for one complication-Dexter.
He was so full of himself.
Did he really think I would ever love him?
Did he think that after sealing off my memories, I’d end up like a fool who only saw love?
What a laughable idiot he was.
“Sophia..” Damien’s voice sounded a little wary.
He took out a syringe from the bedside drawer and tried to get near me.
He looked like a fool in the reflection of the floor-to-ceiling glass.
I swiftly dodged him and grabbed his wrist.
“It’s time for you to pay back what you owe me, Damien!” Damien’s gaze wavered before subconsciously stepping back in fear.
“You…
You’re Sophia!” The “Sophia” he meant was the one from before I went to his house.
It was the Sophia who never lost her memories.
I rubbed my throbbing head and smiled.
‘If it weren’t for Dexter messing with my memories and tinkering with my mind, do you think I would’ve been toyed around like a fool by you and Juliet?” Ichuckled sardonically as linched closer to Damien.
“How devastating, Damien.
I never thought I would die in your hands.” Damien had no choice but to back away slowly, his eyes full of fear.
The fear he had for me turned into hatred toward me after I lost my memories.
“Are you going to kill me?’ He teared up when he saw me pointing the syringe at his neck.
Trembling, he said, “You’re not Sophia…
You’re heartless!’ Damien refused to admit that I was Sophia.
Of course, he wouldn’t, the Sophia they knew was a total fool!
“Kill you?” I chuckled coldly.
“I’ll be letting you off easy if I kill you.” My gaze turned cold as I stabbed the syringe into Damien’s neck.
He quickly fell unconscious from the sedatives within.
The door slowly opened, revealing Ashton by the door.
He was looking at me with reddening eyes.
“Mom.” For some reason, I felt an ache in my chest when I looked at him.
“Stop pretending, kid,” I said, smiling sarcastically.
“The only reason you take me as your mother is because I’m one of you.” Ashton was momentarily stunned.
The innocence in his gaze gradually turned cold as he replied, “You’re not my mom.” I slowly walked toward him and grabbed his chin.
“Tell me where Dexter is.” Dexter wouldn’t be dead.
He probably went to deal with the mastermind of Genome Society on his own.
I noticed the sound of a car pulling up downstairs and tensed up.
I released Ashton and warily walked over to the window.
It was Zion.
“Carol escaped when we were going to identify the Rebels base, Damien.
Joel is also missing.
Have you contacted Joel?’ He was here to check with Damien if he had seen Joel.
First, something happened to Dexter.
Then, Carol’s confession garnered government attention.
Now, Joel had gone missing.
My true plan had just begun to unfold.
Everyone was just a pawn in my plan-myself included.
