Chapter 158: Chapter155-An Ascended Rank… Servant?!
“Velen, is your fortress specialized in training monsters?”
Justin stared at Velen, his tone filled with disbelief.
“Monsters?”
Velen raised an eyebrow, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. “There are indeed two particularly special individuals in the academy. One is the Ironback Centipede, and the other… well…”
“Young Master Velen, you’ve returned.”
Apollo carried a tray with two glasses of red wine. Upon seeing Velen, he immediately bowed respectfully.
“Perfect timing,” Velen nodded and gestured toward Justin. “Starting today, he’ll be working under you.”
Since you don’t want to study sculpting, you can be a servant instead. And while you’re at it, you’ll help the headmaster carve a portrait.
What?!
A servant?!
Me, a servant?!
Justin was utterly stunned when he heard this.
“Me?” Justin widened his eyes in disbelief. “You want me to be a servant?”
“Young Master Velen, is he also an Ascended Rank expert?”
Apollo, upon sensing that Justin was only at Titan Rank Lv9, gave him a once-over and asked again, “Young Master Velen, is he also an Ascended Rank expert?”
“Ascended Rank?” Justin nearly burst out laughing. “Are all the people in your fortress out of their minds? What kind of Ascended Rank expert would come here to be a servant?”
Hearing Apollo’s words, Justin really wanted to leave.
If he stayed in this bizarre fortress any longer, he was afraid he’d start going insane too!
Run far away!
As quickly as possible!
With that thought, Justin immediately made up his mind.
“Hey, buddy, you must’ve gained quite a few benefits from Young Master Velen, huh?”
“So tell me, just how many benefits did you get before being tricked into coming here?”
Apollo looked at Justin with curiosity.
These past few days, he had learned a lot. Every mentor in the fortress—without exception—was here more or less because of Velen.
Now he finally understood why so many people had asked him what kind of fortune he had received to willingly serve as a servant here.
Benefits?
What benefits?
Do mountains of shattered inspiration count as benefits?
I was just caught by Velen in a daze and brought here!

Apollo ignored Justin’s sarcasm and merely stated flatly, “Over the past two days, at least eight Ascended Rank spellbeasts have appeared nearby.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a deafening roar erupted in the distance.
A massive spellbeast with bull-like horns charged out from the forest, heading straight for them.
“Run!” Justin instinctively shouted.
But Apollo merely frowned, a golden light flashing in his eyes.
The spellbeast suddenly froze in place before collapsing heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
“Let’s go,” Apollo turned to Justin. “Looks like we’ve got dinner covered.”
“What do you want to eat? Red wine with steak?”
Justin was dumbfounded as he stared at Apollo, waves of shock surging in his heart.
This guy’s strength… is terrifying!
“Apollo, brother… your strength is…?” Justin hesitantly asked.
“I can ascend at any time,” Apollo replied calmly. “But here, whether one ascends or not… that depends on Young Master Velen’s decision.”
Justin’s heart instantly sank to the bottom.
He had been thinking about escaping, but now it seemed utterly impossible.
Velen’s power and influence far exceeded his imagination.
Inside the fortress’s grand hall, Anastasia sat in an exquisitely carved chair, idly playing with a gemstone that shimmered faintly.
Her gaze fell on Velen as he entered, and the corner of her lips curled slightly.
“Brought back another one?” Anastasia’s tone carried a hint of amusement. “Velen, you never tire of this, do you?”
“Lady Anastasia, this time, I’ve truly been wronged,” Velen spread his hands. “This Justin is actually a sculptor, exceptionally talented. I thought he could sculpt a statue for you—one that would perfectly capture your grandeur.”
“A sculptor?” Anastasia’s eyes lit up. “Where is he? Let me see his skills.”
“Uh…” Velen scratched his head awkwardly. “While he does have talent, he has no interest in sculpting—he’s rather resistant, actually. For now, I’ve assigned him to serve as a servant under Apollo.”
“A servant?” Anastasia frowned. “Since he’s already part of fortress, we can’t let him leave so easily. Find a way to make him continue sculpting—such talent is rare.”
“Lady Anastasia, with your approval, not even Jesus himself could take him away—I swear it!”
Seeing Anastasia take such an interest in Justin, Velen pounded his chest in assurance.
Anastasia nodded but then suddenly changed the subject.
“By the way, you took Alan and the Ironback Centipede with you on this trip—what exactly were you up to?”
Velen grinned and began recounting his experiences in Potion City.
Potion City. The Grand Alchemy Tournament.
You refined a God Rank Potion in front of tens of thousands of alchemists—then casually spilled it all over the ground?!
And instead of being furious, those tens of thousands of alchemists were grateful to you?!
You had two flames of origin and gave both of them to the Ironback Centipede to cultivate it into the continent’s greatest alchemy centipede?!
Then you visited the Academy. The headmaster wasn’t wasteful enough, so you ended up tormenting the three great senators to the brink of insanity?!
Are you even human?!
Look at these things you’ve done—are any of them something a sane person would do?!
You’re getting more and more deranged!
Anastasia felt that Velen’s extravagant behavior was reaching new, insane heights.
Just hearing about all of this, even without witnessing it firsthand, made her heart ache!
“Velen, doesn’t your heart ache?”
Anastasia couldn’t hold back any longer and interrupted him. “So many precious resources, just wasted—you don’t feel even a little bit of pain? Doesn’t your conscience hurt?”
Velen didn’t answer directly. Instead, he raised his foot and stomped down hard on the floor.
With a loud crack, the floor tiles shattered instantly.
“Lady Anastasia, this floor is made from condensed earth magic. If it breaks, do you feel bad?” Velen asked with a smile.
“I do,” Anastasia replied without hesitation.
Velen was momentarily stunned before laughing. “I can create thousands of these tiles at will, and you’d still feel bad?”
“This grand hall is under a magical formation, but you just destroyed the magic core of that formation. So tell me—should I feel bad or not?”
Velen’s smile instantly froze.
Anastasia stood up, a flicker of anger in her eyes.
“Velen, you’re becoming more and more reckless!”
Velen scratched his head and chuckled dryly. “Lady Anastasia, it was just an accident…”
“An accident?”
Madness!
Anastasia was about to go insane!
Never in her wildest dreams did she expect someone to be so bored that they’d deliberately destroy the fortress’s grand hall floor!
So she hadn’t even bothered adding any special protection to this low-tier defensive array—who could’ve imagined that Velen would aim perfectly and break the magic core in one stomp?!
