Chapter 249: Chapter246-This Is Like Shearing a Sheep Until It Dies!
“Grand Senators, what do you mean? What did I do?”
Velen blinked innocently, his face the very picture of sincerity.
“Lord Velen!” Senator William practically shouted, his voice cracking. “Add up our ages—me and the other four Grand Senators—we’ve lived for thousands of years combined!”
“And now… now look at us…” His voice trailed off, unable to articulate the torment they were experiencing. The sheer humiliation was too much to put into words.
Velen, on the other hand, seemed entirely unconcerned.
“Come now,” he replied gently, “you said you wanted time to slow down, to feel like it was stretching. I simply fulfilled that wish.”
“Now be honest,” he continued, holding his hands open as though explaining basic logic. “In this state, while you’re trying to restrain yourselves, doesn’t it feel like every second drags on for eternity?”
“Am I wrong?”
His voice was filled with the calm assurance of someone who believed they were doing the world a great favor.
The five Grand Senators stared at him, their hearts shattering all over again.
Damn it, he’s not wrong!
Time had been stretched to unholy lengths!
But this… this wasn’t the kind of ‘elongated time’ they had in mind!
They didn’t want every second to feel like a personal trial by fire!
The five of them exchanged glances, then silently turned around and began walking away, unwilling to argue further.
“Hey, Grand Senators—where are you going?” Velen called after them.
“Let me remind you: if you manage to hold on for one full day and one full night, the effects of the potion will culminate in an epic-level enhancement to your body. But if you give in even once, the whole thing is wasted.”
He was only half-bluffing—after all, the system had issued a task involving wasteful spending and showboating. Stretching the effects a little didn’t hurt.
“Really?” William looked back skeptically. “Is that actually true?”
“When have I ever lied to you?” Velen asked with mock indignation. “You guys are the venerable elders of this manor—combined age in the thousands! I’ve always been someone who respects the elderly and cares for the young. Would I really deceive you?”
He spoke so righteously that even the wind outside seemed to pause in awe.
William’s mouth twitched.
Respect the elderly and care for the young?
You almost tricked us into becoming your grandchildren!
In the end…
“It worked!”
Velen grinned as he watched the five Grand Senators crouch down in a row like a line of pitiful penitents.
He clapped his hands and said cheerfully, “Alright, now that you’re all seated, how about I share the love? I’ve still got a few potions left. Should I offer some to Duke Michelstein as well?”
“Great idea!”
“Let’s all suffer—uh, share—together!”

William’s eyes lit up with an evil glint.
He immediately turned and shouted at the top of his lungs,
“Duke Michelstein! Velen’s back, and he brought treasures with him!”
“You’d better get over here fast—if you’re late, the good stuff might be gone!”
A few moments later—
Anthony, Duke Michelstein himself, arrived in a hurry, eyes gleaming with anticipation.
He was thrilled to hear that Velen had returned bearing valuable gifts.
But the moment he laid eyes on the scene—five Grand Senators crouching miserably in a perfect line—his face darkened.
“Grand Senators,” Anthony said with grave disappointment, “I don’t want to be disrespectful, but aren’t you taking things too far?”
“Seriously, what is this? Have you taken up begging as a profession?”
“Velen finally returns, and your first instinct is to beg from him like street-side paupers?”
“Look at yourselves! What would Velen think of us? Are we the Beggar’s House of Nobility now?”
Everyone was dumbfounded.
The Grand Senators blinked in confusion. What did he just say?
When they realized what Anthony meant, they were furious.
Begging?!
Sure, they were crouching in a line… but that wasn’t why!
“Senator William, get up already!” Anthony scolded, walking over and grabbing William by the sleeve in an attempt to pull him up.
“Don’t! Don’t touch me!” William cried out in horror, his face pale as chalk.
“Anthony, for heaven’s sake, don’t lay a finger on us!”
“He’s right! Just let us squat here in peace!”
“Stay back! If you come any closer, we’ll have no choice but to take you down with us!”
Their panicked voices echoed through the hall.
The five Grand Senators fixed Anthony with furious stares, making him feel extremely awkward. What the hell was wrong with these old geezers?
Was this what the once-mighty elders of the Ducal Manor had been reduced to? Groveling like beggars? What kind of example were they setting?
Turning to Velen, Anthony quickly brushed off the awkwardness.
“Lord Velen, I heard you’ve got something for me?”
Without hesitation, Velen tossed over four bottles of Endurance Potion.
“Say no more, Duke. Catch!”
Anthony’s eyes sparkled the moment he caught them.
These potions looked impressive just from the design alone!
What he failed to notice, however, was that the Grand Senators had silently shifted over to the left—just enough to leave an empty spot open… right next to them.
“Quickly, drink it up! This potion is great for your health!” Velen encouraged him enthusiastically.
“Don’t mind if I do!” Anthony beamed as he downed all four bottles in rapid succession.
Three seconds later—
“AAAAAHHHHH!!!”
“VELEN!!!”
Anthony screamed as the effects hit him like a lightning bolt.
“Duke! You must endure it! If you restrain yourself for one full day and night, you’ll receive an epic-level enhancement!” Velen shouted quickly.
Anthony crouched suddenly, his face a portrait of stunned agony.
“Are you serious?” he gasped. “Just one day and one night and I get a full-body boost?”
“Velen, do you have any more of this stuff? I think I can endure three days and three nights!”
His eyes glinted with ambition.
Velen stared at him in disbelief.
Three days and nights?
How are you still standing?!
“Duke, the potion’s effects cap out at four bottles. Anymore, and it won’t improve the enhancement,” he explained.
Anthony waved him off.
“Forget enhancement—I just love this fiery feeling in my blood!”
His expression was solemn and sincere, as though he’d discovered some deep, spiritual revelation.
Velen: ???
What kind of monster did I just awaken…?
“Well then, Duke, you’re a beast! Here—take ten more bottles. If that’s not enough, you come find me.”
Velen tossed over ten more bottles before stepping through a Spatial Portal and vanishing toward the Uno Kingdom.
After Velen’s departure—
Anthony happily placed the potions into his spatial ring.
“Hmm? Why are you all looking at me like that?”
“These ten bottles—I earned them myself, fair and square! Don’t you dare try to take them!”
He noticed the Grand Senators’ odd expressions and instantly became defensive.
The five of them stood silently, stewing in regret.
They had even made room for Anthony in the lineup, hoping to laugh at him.
And now? He’d walked away with the real prize!
A potion that could invigorate the body for an entire day and night—do you know what that’s worth!?
They were furious.
Absolutely livid.
They exchanged a silent nod… and surrounded Anthony.
“Wh-what are you doing?” he stammered. “Don’t think I won’t hit an old man! Age isn’t immunity from justice!”
“HEY! Senator William! No hitting the face!”
“Fine, fine! I’ll share, okay?! Just stop looming over me!”
Meanwhile, in the Uno Kingdom — inside Knight Commander Arthur’s manor…
CRACK!
Arthur dropped his watering can the moment he saw the familiar Spatial Rift swirling open in front of him.
Oh no…
Not again!
“Why me?! Did Lord Velen lock onto me personally?!”
This isn’t just shearing a sheep… this is shearing it until it dies!
