Chapter 283: Chapter280-Kindred Spirit!
Ding!
Special Mission Card activated successfully! Now issuing a special mission!
Host must locate three tycoons and show them the true meaning of extravagant, wasteful luxury!
No time limit. Success will be rewarded with a supermassive amount of luxury points and a high chance of triggering a rare bonus. Mission cannot be refused, but carries no penalty upon failure.
“Huh?”
Hearing the system’s voice echo in his mind, Velen’s eyes widened in surprise.
This… was the first mandatory mission he had ever received.
But what exactly did “supermassive luxury points” even mean?
Could a single extravagant task really launch him straight into the upper plane universe?
“Well, I was planning to travel around Uno Kingdom anyway. Finding three tycoons shouldn’t be too difficult.”
Velen stopped wondering about the scale of the reward and instead turned toward the knight commanders beside him.
“Everyone, I have some personal matters to attend to. Don’t worry—I’ll be visiting the fortress often.”
With that, he activated a Spatial Portal and disappeared from sight.
“What?!”
Everyone froze, feeling as if a bolt of heavenly lightning had just struck them.
“‘I’ll be visiting often’—he’s planning to torment us on a regular basis!”
They could only force out bitter laughs.
At that moment, Kris and The One-Eyed exchanged glances, then immediately activated their own portals and escaped without a second’s hesitation.
Huh?
Where are they going?
The rest looked around in confusion—until a moment later.
In the sky above, a thunder tide began rapidly condensing once more.
The Rose Knight Commander, Prince, and Galdorin of Noyer Kingdom stared in horror.
They finally understood why the five knight commanders from Uno Kingdom were so desperate to stay away from Velen…
This thunder tide had a vengeful streak—it actually came back to settle scores afterward!
“Damn it! Lord Velen, save us!”
Uranus Star.
After returning to Uranus Star, Velen made his way to the eastern gate of the city.
Once he left the planet’s atmosphere, he retrieved a Tier-Nine flight artifact and rocketed northward.
Soon, he noticed something strange—a young man flying parallel to him, not riding inside the flight artifact but running alongside it.

“What the…?”
Velen furrowed his brows. “What’s going on with this guy?”
He accelerated to catch up, curiosity piqued.
“Hey, brother, what’s going on? Did your flight artifact break down or something?”
“Break down? Nonsense!” the young man snapped, glancing disdainfully at Velen seated comfortably.
“I’m powering this flight artifact with advanced mana crystals—just not riding it. I’m doing it for fun!”
Whoa!
A kindred spirit?!
Velen’s heart trembled.
Had he already stumbled across a tycoon this early into his journey?
Were there really this many tycoons in this area?
Of course, what he didn’t know was that the young man beside him was silently suffering.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to sit—it was that he didn’t dare.
His family’s top guardian was watching him from the shadows.
If he so much as dared to sit down, he’d get a beating faster than he could blink.
“Huh?”
The young man blinked in surprise as he noticed Velen also leaving his flight artifact and floating beside it using mana.
“What’s with this guy? Is he being forced to train by his family too?”
“Could it be… he’s also a fellow sufferer like me?”
“Name’s Velen,” Velen said warmly with a smile.
“I’m Karos.”
The young man hesitated for a moment before introducing himself.
“Brother Karos, are you a tycoon?”
Velen got straight to the point.
“What?! Did you just call me a tycoon? I think you’re the tycoon! Your whole family must be tycoons!”
Karos snapped like a cat whose tail had just been stepped on.
Who the hell wouldn’t want to ride a luxurious flight artifact when they have one?!
He’d be relaxing in it right now—if he wasn’t being watched like a hawk.
“I am a tycoon. So is my whole family,” Velen answered with a calm smile, thinking fondly of the chaotic bunch back at the fortress.
Karos stared at him wide-eyed, utterly stunned that someone would admit to being a tycoon so readily.
“Brother Karos, you seem to really dislike the word ‘tycoon.’ Why is that?”
Velen asked, intrigued.
“Damn right I do. To me, everything should be used to its fullest purpose. Wasteful extravagance is just that—waste. And waste is shameful!”
Karos frowned, then added, “If it weren’t for my family forcing me to do this, I’d never take part in such ridiculous behavior.”
He looked at Velen and warned, “You should leave now. My family’s guardian is watching me in secret. If he thinks you’re a threat… you’re a dead man.”
“He’s not just any guardian either—you wouldn’t stand a chance.”
“System,” Velen said silently, “Contact The One-Eyed. Tell him to go have a ‘chat’ with the guardian watching Karos. See if we can take Karos with us.”
Ding! Host, are you sure you mean “chat,” and not “intimidate”?
The system replied with a cheeky tone.
“Of course I mean ‘chat,'” Velen replied with a grin—though the look in his eyes betrayed his actual intent.
Talk? Hell no. Real men get things done with action!
“Brother Karos, I think you’re misunderstanding what it means to be a tycoon,” Velen said.
“Sure, if you don’t have the means, showing off wealth is wasteful. But if you do have the means, then extravagant spending becomes a form of enjoyment.”
He decided to change tactics. Rather than argue, he would simply let Karos experience it firsthand.
Even if Karos didn’t count as one of the required tycoons for the special mission, Velen didn’t care.
He wasn’t about to let a quest get in the way of his fun.
Up above, in the high clouds, a cold-faced middle-aged man kept his gaze fixed on Velen’s every move.
Suddenly, a red-haired man holding a blood-red scythe appeared silently behind him—The One-Eyed.
Shit!
The middle-aged man felt the icy touch of the blade on his neck and his eyes went wide in terror.
When did this guy get behind me?!
It was impossible!
He was a high-tier Awakener—how could he have been approached unnoticed?
“Let’s talk,” the red-haired man said in a disturbingly cheerful voice.
“Would you be so kind as to let my master take your young lord with him?”
“If yes, feel free to leave now.”
“If not… well, you can still leave now.”
“You call that talking?!”
The middle-aged man almost screamed. That was a threat, plain and simple!
“What are you planning to do with my young lord?!”
“Relax. My master wouldn’t harm him. In fact, he plans to train him into a proper tycoon.”
“The only thing your family needs to worry about is… whether you have enough money for him to burn!”
The One-Eyed grinned wide.
The middle-aged man froze—then burst out laughing.
“Worry that we won’t have enough? That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard!”
But as soon as he moved his neck, the scythe at his throat left a fine, bloody line.
“Damn it, I forgot that blade was still there!”
He nearly passed out from the fright. That scythe was so sharp it cut through his magic defenses like paper!
“Spending as enjoyment?”
Karos muttered, shaking his head.
He couldn’t agree. If it were really enjoyable, why did it feel so painful?
Just then, the middle-aged man landed from the sky and spoke seriously:
“Young Master, for the next few days, you’ll accompany Lord Velen.”
“Uncle Ally? You know Brother Velen?”
Karos looked at him in confusion.
“Know him? If I hadn’t come down to stop you, both of us would be dead right now!”
