Chapter 296: Chapter293-You Even Have to Fight to Join a Tower?!
The deduction of Luxury Points no longer felt like a punishment to Velen. He’d assumed the system would make some changes to how unspent special items were handled—but no, it was business as usual.

Ding! “A system that punishes its host is not a good system!”

“Our goal is to encourage the host to live lavishly and flaunt wealth!”

“Ding! Punishments were given in the lower plane universe solely to help the host quickly adapt to the identity of a spendthrift tycoon—not to punish the host!”

“Now that the host has proven himself a qualified spendthrift tycoon, the system will no longer impose any penalties!”

Hearing the system’s response, Velen gave a wry smile.

He suddenly felt like he’d been released into the wild.

…He wasn’t quite used to it.

“One million Phantom Moon Orchids… How should I squander these?”

Velen fell into deep thought.

Although there was no longer any punishment, his time in the lower plane universe had trained him well. He had developed a healthy habit of spending extravagantly and flaunting wealth.

He now felt uneasy if he didn’t spend.

As his thoughts wandered, his gaze fell on the towering Titan Tower, its spire hidden within swirling magical mist.

Maybe he should—

“Hmm?”

At that moment, Velen spotted a figure approaching from the distance.

“Someone’s actually coming to join my Titan Tower?” he said, visibly surprised.

“Lord Velen!”

The figure drew closer, and an excited voice rang out—it was Alec!

“Alec?”

Seeing who it was, Velen’s face filled with disbelief.

This guy… What was he doing here?

I stole your Saint position, and now you want to join my tower?

This guy… was he really that forgiving?

In the distance—

“By the gods above!”

“I knew Alec was acting strange! He actually knows that guy who’s both a Saint and a Grand Elder, and he called him ‘Lord’!”

“That’s completely unlike Alec!” Lore’s face was filled with disbelief.

For Alec to address someone with honorifics—it could only mean the person was no ordinary figure.

After all, Alec had never bowed to anyone.

“Something’s definitely up!”

“Like, a million things are up!”

“Alec’s being ridiculously respectful to that young man. He’s never even shown this much deference to the Temple Master!”

“Lore, who do you think that young man really is—”

Stiegler paused mid-sentence. He suddenly realized Lore was no longer beside him.

Turning his head, he saw Lore sprinting forward at full speed—straight toward the base of Titan Tower!

“By the gods!”

“Lore, you’re going all in on this bet?! If that guy turns out to be a fraud, we’ll be ruined for life if we join his tower!”

Muttering to himself, Stiegler took out his flying Arcane Carpet, activated it at full power, and shot forward to catch up!

Screw it. If Alec was willing to bet it all, why shouldn’t they?

At the base of Titan Tower—

“Lord Velen, I’d like to join Titan Tower!”

Standing before him, Alec expressed his desire with great enthusiasm.

“Very well!”

Since Alec was willing to join, Velen had no reason to refuse.

After all, he still had fifteen days to spend in the upper plane universe. Things would get dull quickly without some company.

“Alec, I may be weak, but I’ve still become a Saint and a Grand Elder. That alone should raise some eyebrows, right?”

“So why hasn’t anyone else come?”

Velen voiced his honest confusion.

“Lord Velen, please—just call me Alec. There’s too great a status gap between us. If you call me ‘Lord,’ I honestly feel uncomfortable.”

“As for your question: the Temple Master only publicly revealed your strength. While many have their suspicions, no one dares to bet.”

“After all, once you join a magic tower, it’s a lifelong commitment.”

Seeing Velen still unsure, Alec elaborated further:

“Put it this way. Say a student wants to become a potion master. If they join your Titan Tower and later discover you specialize in enchanting instead, they’re doomed.”

“So even if someone qualifies to enter one of the nine towers, they’ll always make their decision with extreme caution.”

That explanation made perfect sense to Velen. He also finally understood why Lilith had acted the way she did.

After all, his specialty was spending money and flaunting wealth… not exactly something you could put in an official brochure.

What was he supposed to say—that Titan Tower only accepts students with “high potential for squandering wealth”?

This was the upper plane universe—a brutal, strength-based realm. No one would take a place seriously if it didn’t pursue power.

“Titan Elder!”

“Student Stiegler requests to join Titan Tower!”

A shout came from the distance.

“Damn you, Stiegler!”

“You shameless bastard! You even used a flying Arcane Carpet just to join a tower?!”

Lore cursed loudly as Stiegler zoomed past him. He immediately yelled toward Velen, “Titan Elder! Student Lore also wishes to join Titan Tower!”

After that, Lore also pulled out his flying Arcane Carpet and kicked it into full speed.

“Alec, who the hell are those two idiots?”

Velen watched in confusion as the two students raced each other toward him.

“By the gods!”

“What are they doing here?!”

Alec was equally shocked. When he recognized the two, his face twisted with disbelief.

He quickly explained to Velen: “Lord Velen, they’re also the Sanctuary’s preliminary Saints. I can’t believe they’re actually coming here!”

…What?!

Two more preliminary Saints?

You’re all crazy, aren’t you?!

I stole your Saint titles, and now you’re coming to join my tower?!

Velen was genuinely stunned.

He hadn’t received a single regular student, yet now the Sanctuary’s three most elite newcomers were standing in a row at the base of his tower.

If this got out, the entire Sanctuary would explode again!

Moments later—

“You three… are you absolutely sure you want to join my Titan Tower?”

Velen asked solemnly, looking at the line of determined young men.

“Titan Elder, we are certain!”

All three answered in unison, their voices firm.

“…Alright, then. You may all stay.”

Three new recruits at once—and not just any recruits, but the Sanctuary’s three top-tier contenders for Sainthood.

To be honest, Velen had no idea how to explain this to Lilith.

“Well, since you’ve joined Titan Tower, I’ll tell you a bit about us.”

“Other towers specialize in potion-making, enchanting, alchemy, or formations.”

“But Titan Tower is unique. We specialize in—extravagant spending and flaunting wealth!”

“You heard right! That’s our focus!”

He paused, then delivered the announcement with absolute seriousness.

…???

Specializing in wasting money and showing off?!

Not pursuing strength—but instead learning how to become a professional spendthrift?

Was this a joke?!

Lore and Stiegler exchanged looks and saw the same despair in each other’s eyes.

This wasn’t just a bad gamble.

They had bet their souls and lost everything.

The thought that they’d have to spend resources—meant for cultivating strength—on wasting money nearly made them weep.

Those resources were supposed to be the foundation of their future power!

Worst of all, if the Sanctuary discovered that Titan Tower’s allocated resources were being funneled into luxurious nonsense, they might cut off supplies entirely.

If that happened… they were finished.

All they could do now was pray Velen was joking.

Because if he was serious, their lives were over.

And as for Alec—he remained unusually calm.

Because he had already seen the terrifying power… of Velen’s money.
