Chapter 298: Chapter295-I Can’t Suffer Alone—Someone Has to Be Miserable With Me
Whew…

Upon hearing the news, Lilith let out a long sigh of relief.

To have three members join Titan Tower was far beyond what she had dared hope for.

“Temple Master!”

“Since Alec, Stiegler, and Lore have already joined Titan Tower, I believe we can remove their preliminary Saint status.”

Velen continued, voice calm but decisive.

…??

Lilith was momentarily caught off guard.

“T-Titan Elder… Are you saying Titan Tower recruited the three preliminary Saints of the Sanctuary?”

Once her mind caught up, she stared at Velen in disbelief, seeking confirmation.

“That’s right.”

“All three of them have officially joined Titan Tower.”

Velen nodded earnestly.

“Huh…”

“Well, since you’ve become a Saint yourself, I suppose their ‘preliminary’ status is now obsolete.”

“But may I ask… just how many Stellar Cores did it cost you to ‘buy’ them?”

Lilith’s curiosity was piqued.

To her, there was simply no way anyone would willingly join Titan Tower—much less three top-tier apprentices.

The only explanation she could accept… was that Velen had once again leveraged his mysterious financial might.

…?!

Bought?!

Excuse me?

Velen nearly choked on his own breath.

Who the hell bought anyone?!

They came on their own!

Sure, I like “recruiting” people back in the lower plane universe, but I haven’t even started doing that here!

This was slander—naked, unfiltered slander!

He gave a bitter smile.

It had only been one day since arriving, and yet his unacknowledged grand mentor had already fully profiled him?

“Temple Master.”

“If I told you they all came of their own accord—and that I had absolutely nothing to do with it—would you believe me?”

Velen asked sincerely.

“I believe you.”

“If Titan Elder says so, then it must be true.”

Lilith replied just as seriously.

“Still… those three are really lucky. Not only did they get into Titan Tower, but they also stumbled into an opportunity more valuable than they can possibly imagine. Honestly, I’m kind of jealous!”

Lilith said, sighing with obvious envy.

Grand mentor!

Can we please have some basic trust between us?!

They seriously weren’t bribed!

They were genuinely moved by my irresistible charm!

Ding! “Host, do you even hear yourself right now?”

The system chimed in mercilessly.

Hearing both Lilith’s comment and the system’s “helpful” addition, Velen felt like losing his mind.

Just one day.

That’s all it took for his entire image to become locked in within his grand mentor’s heart?!

Desperate to change the subject, Velen spoke quickly.

“Temple Master, I’ve made something interesting at Titan Tower. Would you like to come take a look?”

He asked with an eager grin.

“Something interesting?”

Lilith raised a curious brow.

For something to be labeled “interesting” by Velen, the self-proclaimed king of wasteful spending… it had to be very interesting indeed.

Now her curiosity was truly piqued.

On the way to Titan Tower—

“Titan Elder,” Lilith asked, unable to contain herself, “what exactly is this interesting thing? Can you at least give me a hint?”

“If I tell you now, it’ll ruin the surprise!”

Velen replied mysteriously.

“But I guarantee—once you see it with your own eyes, you’ll be shocked.”

“‘Interesting’ and ‘shocking’ at the same time?”

“What kind of ridiculous thing has this spendthrift done now…”

Lilith was now dying to see what it was. Her steps quickened as anticipation rose.

Moments later—

“…What the actual—?!”

“Phantom Moon Orchid?!”

Lilith froze in place, eyes wide in absolute disbelief.

“This… this rope ladder that stretches to the heavens… How many Phantom Moon Orchids were used?!”

Standing beside her, Velen grinned proudly.

“Temple Master!”

“I told you it’d be shocking!”

“This rope ladder was made using one million Phantom Moon Orchids. Isn’t it an absolute masterpiece of extravagant art?”

He said with a sparkle in his eye.

“WHAT?!”

“One million Phantom Moon Orchids?!”

Lilith nearly screamed. She felt her world start spinning.

She had dreamed of collecting just a few hundred of them throughout her life…

Yet this lunatic not only had a million, but actually used them… to make a rope ladder?

Was this man even human?!

Lilith took a deep breath to calm her racing heart.

“…Titan Elder,” she asked seriously, “can I ask why you used so many Phantom Moon Orchids to weave a rope ladder?”

“Oh, that’s easy.”

“I just wanted to provide another way to reach the top of Titan Tower!”

Velen replied matter-of-factly.

…??

Another option?!

Just to give people one more choice when climbing the tower… you used up a million Phantom Moon Orchids?

Lilith felt like crying.

She had spent thousands of years trying every method imaginable and only ever managed to gather a little under ten thousand of those orchids.

And now this madman had used a million of them… just for aesthetic variety?!

“Oh, right!”

“Temple Master, are there any illusion-type mages in Endless Sanctuary?”

“These Phantom Moon Orchids are invaluable for them. If there are, maybe… don’t let them see this ladder. I’m worried they might go insane.”

Velen added with a concerned tone.

“Hmm?”

“…Temple Master?”

Velen blinked in confusion as he watched Lilith turn and walk away without a word.

He had been about to invite her to try out the deluxe rope ladder together!

Elsewhere—

“He doesn’t know. He couldn’t have known.”

“Even if everyone in the Sanctuary knows I practice illusion magic, today was his first day here. It’s normal he didn’t realize…”

“But still… I’m really struggling here!”

“No. I can’t suffer alone. I have to find someone to be miserable with me!”

With that, Lilith changed course, heading straight for Amethyst Tower.

After all, aside from herself, only Amethyst Elder specialized in illusion magic.

This kind of “joy” must be shared.

At Amethyst Tower—

“Temple Master? What brings you here today?”

Amethyst Elder looked surprised as Lilith arrived unannounced.

“Amethyst Elder, I’ve discovered something truly… fascinating.”

“I’d like you to come with me to see it.”

Lilith got straight to the point.

“Fascinating?”

“In all of Endless Sanctuary, is there anything I wouldn’t know about?”

He was an elder who had seen it all—even across the upper plane universe. What could possibly surprise him?

Curious, he followed Lilith.

Shortly after—

“Temple Master!!!”

“This… This is the interesting thing you wanted to show me?!”

Amethyst Elder stood at the foot of Titan Tower, eyes bulging in disbelief at the sight of the endless Phantom Moon Orchid rope ladder.

“T-Titan Elder made this?”

He turned to Lilith in shock.

“That’s right.”

“We’ve clearly underestimated Titan Elder’s capacity for extravagant waste.” Lilith’s tone grew serious.

“Although he claimed he made this ladder to give his tower members an alternative climbing option… I honestly think he just wanted to show off.”

“One million Phantom Moon Orchids, Elder. I’m beginning to wonder if he didn’t raid the entire Phantom Moon Secret Realm!”

Lilith added grimly.

“Phantom Moon Secret Realm is one of the forbidden lands in the upper plane universe!” Amethyst Elder exclaimed.

“Even with my Star Emperor Rank Phase Five power, I wouldn’t dare venture there lightly!”

“This means Titan Elder’s background must be far more terrifying than we imagined…”

His expression twisted into one of pure heartache.

He felt a pang of grief for those innocent orchids.

You monster, Titan Elder.

You’ve only just arrived… and already you’ve butchered an entire mountain of Phantom Moon Orchids.
