Chapter 47: Chapter47-Saintess of Tarot
“You know Sophia?”
Kelsey’s gaze instantly turned sharp as a blade, filled with hostility.
The name of the Saintess of Tarot was top-secret information, known to fewer than a handful of individuals, and Kelsey himself had only learned it from the head of the order.
How could Velen possibly know?
“Kelsey Councilor, please don’t be alarmed. I mean no harm,” Velen replied, surprised at how highly Kelsey regarded Sophia.
However, Velen already had a plan forming in his mind. He spoke slowly:
“I actually have a great suggestion. You’ve already experienced the Words of Fate SSS Tomes of Skill Experience. In the future, we can have her join both our sides!”
“She can remain the Saintess of Tarot, under your tutelage, while I provide her with the SSS Tomes of Skill Experience free of charge!”
As soon as Velen proposed this, Kelsey decisively shook his head in rejection.
“Impossible! The Saintess of Tarot is the future of the Tarot Order. She cannot join any other faction!”
“No room for negotiation?”
“None!”
Seeing Kelsey’s firm stance, Velen didn’t push further. Rising to his feet, he said,
“Very well then. Whether Sophia joins any faction will depend on our respective abilities.”
With that, Velen turned and left.
Watching Velen’s departing figure, Kelsey suddenly felt a sense of foreboding.
What was Velen’s background?
Why was he competing with the Tarot Order for the Saintess?
Kelsey couldn’t make sense of it.
If anyone else had such intentions, Kelsey would have taken immediate action to eliminate them without hesitation, as it concerned the future of the Tarot Order.
But this was Velen—a man whose destiny he couldn’t see through at all.
A man who casually used the priceless afterlife flower as incense.
Kelsey instinctively didn’t dare make a move.
“The Saintess should arrive here within the next two days. I must prepare early to prevent Velen from succeeding!”
Not daring to delay, Kelsey immediately began making preparations.
…
Before long, Velen arrived at the outskirts of the northern district. According to the Fate’s Trojan system prompt, Sophia would be arriving here soon.
“No wonder Kelsey is so eager for the Words of Fate SSS Tomes of Skill Experience. His proficiency with Words of Fate must not be very high. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be waiting here for days without locating Sophia.”
Muttering to himself, Velen felt even more awed by the power of the system.

The Tarot Order might be strong, but compared to the system, they were like amateurs.
As he waited, Velen suddenly straightened.
Amid the bustling crowd, a young woman’s figure stood out, immediately catching his attention.
She held a pink parasol that obscured part of her face.
But the half of her face that was visible was enough to captivate anyone’s imagination.
Especially her strikingly curvaceous figure, which made it impossible to look away.
“A pleasing figure and appearance—this is exactly the kind of person who belongs in the Tycoon Club!”
Velen murmured, then briefly thought of Kidd’s somewhat rotund figure, deciding that Kidd would never make it onto the club’s candidate list.
“Hello, my name is Velen!”
With a smile on his face, Velen approached Sophia and greeted her.
Sophia glanced at the extraordinary-looking young man before her and asked curiously,
“We don’t know each other, do we? What do you want?”
“I’m recruiting for the Tycoon Club I founded, and I think you’d be a great fit. Would you like to join?”
Velen extended his hand, offering an olive branch.
Sophia chuckled lightly, finding Velen amusingly naive.
Naming his faction something like that?
It exuded a juvenile arrogance that was almost laughable.
“Velen, is it? If you’re looking to recruit, I won’t stop you. But have you even considered the difference in our levels? You’re only Apprentice Rank Level 9, while I’m already Expert Rank Level 8!”
Sophia spoke mockingly.
“Oh,” Velen said, shaking his head. “Expert Rank Level 8 is indeed quite low. Compared to my mentee, who is Ascended Rank Level 9, the gap is huge. But I don’t mind. Anyone who joins the Tycoon Club can quickly increase their level.”
Hearing Velen’s serious reply, Sophia couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
What kind of nonsense was this?
She was almost two major ranks above him!
And an Apprentice Rank awakener having an Ascended Rank mentee?
Even a lunatic wouldn’t believe such a thing!
Feeling like she was wasting her time with a madman, Sophia turned to walk away from Velen.
“Sophia, wouldn’t you reconsider? If you acknowledge me as your mentor, you’ll never run out of gold coins or mana stones again, and you’ll have endless resources for upgrades!”
Velen delivered his trump card.
For awakeners, resources and mana stones were indispensable, yet hard to come by. If Sophia wanted to grow stronger, she’d have to be tempted.
But Sophia only took it as more absurd boasting. Ignoring him, she continued walking away.
“Sophia, this is a golden opportunity to change your fate. If you miss it, you might regret it. Why not think it over carefully?”
Velen’s persistence caused Sophia’s anger to boil over. She abruptly stopped, glaring coldly at him.
“Oh, so you have lots of mana stones, huh? Prove it—produce a million advanced mana stones, and I’ll join your Tycoon Club!”
With that, she saw Velen freeze in place.
A smug smile crept onto Sophia’s face.
Let’s see you keep spouting nonsense now!
“At your level, you’ve probably never even seen advanced mana stones. Watch your mouth next time and stop lying through your teeth,” Sophia chided Velen mercilessly.
A million advanced mana stones—most top-tier factions couldn’t come up with such a sum!
Sophia was certain Velen couldn’t possibly meet her challenge.
But as she observed Velen’s confident expression, tossing a storage bag her way, her smile stiffened.
“Take a look. See if there are enough advanced mana stones inside,” Velen said calmly.
Sophia pursed her lips, ready to expose his bluff.
But when she opened the storage bag, what she saw left her stunned.
Inside were indeed advanced mana stones, an overwhelming number of them, stacked into a small mountain!
One million?
No!
Ten million advanced mana stones!
Sophia’s hand trembled as she clutched the bag, her eyes widening in disbelief.
Ten million advanced mana stones—ten times the amount she had demanded!
How could Velen possibly have so many advanced mana stones?
Even in her wildest dreams, she had never dared imagine possessing such wealth.
Yet Velen had presented it effortlessly!
Should she truly become Velen’s mentee and join this so-called Tycoon Club?
No!
The thought had barely formed before Sophia forced it away.
Her expression hardened, taking on a ruthless edge.
With Velen’s level being so low, killing him quickly and fleeing with the mana stones seemed like an ideal solution.
But this idea was suppressed just as quickly as it arose.
