Chapter 65: Chapter65-Star Hunt, the new task from the system
With Velen’s help, they felt like they might break through their own limits. Velen was like a super tycoon, providing them with an unshakable safeguard.
“Congratulations, host has triggered a random task: lead the genius members of Ducal Manor to participate in the Star Hunt hosted by Element Academy.”
“Task requirements: host must win second place in this hunt, and the geniuses from the House of von Michelstein must not take first place.”
“Task success: gain luxury points. Task failure: lose luxury points.”
Upon hearing the system’s notification in his mind, Velen’s expression turned somewhat strange.
Star Hunt.
Second place?
It had to be second place.
This system was clearly up to something!
Although he had no idea what the Star Hunt was about, he figured that since nothing particularly urgent was happening at the moment, it wouldn’t hurt to join. It could be considered a social event with everyone gathering together!
But the requirement to get second place actually seemed harder than securing the first! Not allowing Hael and the others to take first place—this was clearly a patch the system had added.
“Hael, do you know anything about the Star Hunt hosted by Element Academy?”
Velen decided to figure out the situation first.
If Hael and the others had just joined the fortress and didn’t know anything about it, he planned to ask Anastasia—she might have more information.
“Velen, I didn’t know you already knew about it. A few days ago, Element Academy sent us a challenge letter, inviting us to participate in the Star Hunt. But Miss Anastasia seems to have rejected it, so we don’t know much more about it,” Hael shared the information he had with Velen.
Velen nodded. Hael and the others probably only knew that much.
So, Velen went directly to the great hall where Anastasia was.
When Velen arrived, Anastasia was absorbing mana from a mana stone, diligently leveling up.
Seeing Velen return so quickly, her eyebrows furrowed slightly, but she still asked, “What’s going on?”
“I just heard Hael and the others say that Element Academy sent us a challenge letter, asking us to join the Star Hunt. Is that true?” Velen asked directly.
Anastasia nodded. “Element Academy is a well-known faction on Uranus Star. This time, they sent challenge letters to more than ten powerful factions around here, hoping to get us to participate in the Star Hunt.”
“They previously approached me. If we decide to join, we’d need to put a large amount of materials that can help with leveling into the small asteroid where the Star Hunt will take place. Any faction that can grab those materials will keep them.”
“Although Element Academy seems to have restricted the number of participants to ensure fairness, they are hosting the event on an asteroid they know very well. They already have a huge advantage. Agreeing to join would be a disadvantage.”
Anastasia spoke faintly, showing no interest in this event. She felt it would waste her valuable time.
Moreover, knowing that the other side might use some underhanded tactics, she was even less interested.
Velen understood Anastasia’s thoughts, so he took a deep breath and said, “Anastasia, I want to participate in this Star Hunt!”
“You want to join? But Fortress doesn’t have enough precious materials…”
Before she could finish her sentence, she realized that Velen’s expression had become excited.
Thinking of Alan, the big tycoon, Anastasia swallowed the second half of her sentence.

She knew that once she mentioned that Fortress lacked materials and gold coins to join the Star Hunt, Velen would raise his hand and say that these problems were no issue and would take care of it.
As she expected, Velen quickly spoke up with a confident tone.
“Captain, leave the materials and gold coins to me! Those are just small problems!”
With that, Velen pulled out several priceless treasures from his storage bag.
“Captain, you’re familiar with the SSS Tomes of Skill Experience, the rare and valuable things that can only be snatched through hard work. Let’s take out fifty of them!”
“Also, I’ve got some Afterlife Flowers here, I’ll take out fifty of them too!”
“Here’s some Starry Stones, I’ll painfully part with three of them!”
“And, I have 100 drops of dragon blood. This should be enough, right?”
Seeing Velen present such rare treasures, Anastasia’s eyes almost went blind.
At the same time, a surge of anger began to build in her heart.
As usual, Velen was acting extravagantly, bringing out so many rare treasures in advance.
If all of these items were thrown into the asteroid for the Star Hunt, it would be a complete waste!
The combined wealth of all the factions joining the event couldn’t even compare to the scraps Velen was offering!
“Captain, should be enough, right?”
Velen didn’t think it was a waste. To him, it was a perfect opportunity to show off his wealth!
If other factions saw these treasures, they would be so hyped up they’d be ready to dive into a mad chase for them.
He couldn’t wait to make them see what real luxury and indulgence looked like.
However, as soon as Velen finished speaking, Anastasia shook her head repeatedly.
“Keep all of these treasures in Fortress. Fortress needs them for development.”
First of all, how could she let these precious things go to waste in the Star Hunt? Even a single one of them being lost would make her faint!
Secondly, Velen’s habit of showing off had to be corrected!
She quickly thought of a way to address his behavior and smiled to herself.
But just as she was smiling, Velen decisively waved his hand and put everything back into his storage bag.
He then glared at Anastasia, looking like a bird protecting its food.
Anastasia, seeing his swift action, was completely confused.
She only wanted to keep the treasures in Fortress for his benefit, worried that Velen, being young and hot-headed, might not handle them well.
But how could he take them all back so quickly?
Her smile froze.
“Captain, these items are for the Star Hunt. They can’t go to Fortress.”
Velen shook his head firmly.
Anastasia was now a bit puzzled.
She knew Velen cared about Fortress. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have spent so much effort working with Aurora Trade Guild to create a long-term source of gold coins and mana stones for Fortress.
But now, with Velen taking out all these precious items, he seemed unusually determined to not keep them for the fortress.
“Captain, if I really give these to you, are you going to leave them in storage and let them gather dust?”
Velen looked serious and sternly asked Anastasia.
“Unused resources aren’t resources at all. Only when these things are used to help the prodigies of Fortress level up will they have value. You can’t just hoard them like this.”
To Velen, it wasn’t about the treasures. It was more about Anastasia’s stinginess. If she took them, she would never use them.
“If you need mana stones or Afterlife Flowers, I can burn them and send the incense to you. I won’t hold back!”
Velen’s words were firm and decisive.
Anastasia, hearing this, shook in anger.
She knew that if Velen really gave her those treasures, she would indeed keep them safe but would never use them. Velen had anticipated this.
After some brief consideration and internal struggle, Anastasia made a concession.
“Alright, let’s compromise. I’ll prepare the materials for the Star Hunt, and you can give these to Fortress, but how you use them is up to you.”
For her, if Velen the show-off actually used these treasures, that would be good. Just as long as a few remained in Fortress’s warehouse, it would be a good thing for the fortress!
Seeing Anastasia make a concession, Velen was somewhat surprised. This wasn’t like the strong-willed Anastasia he knew.
Her decision indirectly meant she had agreed to his flaunting of wealth. After all, the way he would use these treasures would undoubtedly be extravagant and excessive.
Once Anastasia had compromised, there would likely be a second, third time. Eventually, Anastasia might even become a member of the Tycoon Club!
After all, once someone experienced the pleasures of being a tycoon, it was hard to forget!
Without hesitation, Velen quickly took everything from the storage bag he had just received and placed it all out.
“How do you plan to use these 50 SSS Tomes of Skill Experience?”
Looking at the items Velen had placed, Anastasia directly asked.
Velen thought for a moment and said, “Kevin, Robert, Aiden, Hael, Alan, Ironback Centipede, and you, Captain, each of you will get two books. The rest I’ll give to Little Bunny, since these were originally meant for it.”
Upon hearing Velen’s distribution plan, even though Anastasia had an inkling of it, she still felt her eyelids twitch with anger.
The core members of Fortress only got two SSS Tomes of Skill Experience each, while the rest went to Little Bunny? And he made it sound like they were competing with a rabbit for resources?
The more Anastasia thought about it, the angrier she became. But recalling that she had previously stated that the resource allocation was Velen’s decision, she could only force herself to swallow her frustration. She then shifted her focus to the 50 Afterlife Flowers.
“What are you planning to do with these Afterlife Flowers?”
Velen sniffed the air and replied, “It’s been a long time since I made any aromatherapy. I’ll use all of these Afterlife Flowers to make incense. Whether for upgrading or when sleeping, the fragrance will definitely improve the mood.”
“Also, after you each take two, the rest can be used to give Little Bunny a nice bath. A clean, fragrant bunny is much cuter.”
Upon hearing this, Anastasia’s anger flared. A sharp mana fluctuation radiated from her, spreading throughout the hall. Her smooth forehead even started to twitch with visible veins.
It seemed Velen’s extravagant and wasteful behavior had truly become ingrained in him.
Seeing Anastasia was on the verge of exploding, Velen wisely refrained from further provoking her. Instead, he shifted the topic.
“Captain, how about we place all these items on Star Hunt…”
Anastasia, who had clearly reached her limit, suppressed her rising fury. She gritted her teeth and said, “I think your distribution plan is great!”
Putting all these things into Star Hunt? Better to let Velen waste them.
Though it made her feel like her heart was being crushed, she managed to force out a smile.
“What about these three Starry Stones?” Anastasia took a deep breath and asked with a slight smile, testing her patience.
Velen, having already wasted so many valuable resources, should know better by now not to misuse them.
“These three Starry Stones are too few. I’ll make some kitchen utensils first. This will help with cooking. If there’s any leftover, I’ll make scissors or other tools to take care of the flowers and plants in Fortress.”
Velen had his own plan for the Starry Stones and spoke with a serious tone.
Upon hearing this, Anastasia felt her temples throbbing painfully.
Starry Stones were treasures for crafting magical tools, extremely rare and precious. But Velen was planning to turn them into kitchen utensils? Or scissors for tending to flowers?
She couldn’t understand how his mind worked. How could he be so wasteful, so extravagant, yet so confident about it?
Anastasia rubbed her temples, then turned her attention to the final 100 drops of Dragon Blood.
“How do you plan to handle these?” she asked.
“Simple. The area around Fortress is too barren, with sparse vegetation. I’ll use these drops of Dragon Blood to water the plants,” Velen started to explain, but then felt a sudden cold, murderous intent in Anastasia’s gaze. The oppressive aura made him freeze.
She was staring at him with an expression so chilling, it made his back feel icy. He quickly shut his mouth.
“After all this, it’s good that I haven’t exploded yet. Eventually, Anastasia will come to understand the joy of being a tycoon!” Velen thought to himself, before speaking up again.
“For the Dragon Blood, I think Fortress lacks proper incentives. If anyone achieves a rank breakthrough or contributes greatly, they can be rewarded with Dragon Blood.”
Upon hearing this, Anastasia finally let out a breath. She softened her gaze and smiled slightly.
“That’s a good idea. Let’s do it as you say.”
Anastasia agreed quickly. Velen’s idea had given her a sense of relief. Although his character still needed to be molded, she believed that, with time, she could change him. Slowly but surely.
“Kevin, have everyone in Fortress gather for a meeting!” Anastasia quickly transmitted the order to Kevin.
Then, recalling how Velen, Daniel, and Nikola had spent quite a bit of time aboard the fleet, and considering Velen’s tendency to flaunt his wealth, she couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.
“By the way, what else did you waste while you were on the fleet?”
“Captain, you know my personality. Everything’s just a fleeting thing, nothing too wasteful,” Velen immediately shook his head.
“Well, the Dragon Blood Potion—Daniel and Nikola almost vomited from the smell. They’ll probably gag every time they smell it in the future.”
“Also, I used the S-rank skill… as toilet paper for Nikola.”
Anastasia’s slender fingers immediately clenched into fists.
An S-rank skill!
For a Heroic Rank Awakener, such skills were extremely valuable—Ducal Manor didn’t even have many of them. They were worth at least a billion mana stones!
And now… such a precious skill had been used as toilet paper!?
Anastasia took a deep breath, trying to calm her fast-beating heart.
An S-rank skill was rare and powerful, but in the upper plane universe, it was still somewhat common.
“Also, I acquired Fenrir’s bloodline. Nikola’s terrified of pain, so I thought it would be perfect for him to inherit it.”
“You have no idea, but after Nikola received the bloodline, he became incredibly violent. He and Daniel fought to the death aboard the fleet, and Nikola’s progress was rapid.”
Anastasia’s pupils immediately constricted. She couldn’t help but lean forward, exclaiming, “What did you say? Fenrir’s bloodline?”
“You can’t be serious, right?”
As someone who had once been a major figure in the upper plane universe, she had seen a Fenrir bloodline inheritor before. That person was a complete lunatic—reckless in battle, growing stronger the more they fought. Even her own mentor, a top-tier decision-maker in the upper plane universe, had been driven into a corner by this individual.
And that was with a rank difference!
To think that someone with Fenrir’s bloodline could be such a monster!
