Chapter 233: Chapter 233- Catastrophic situation
“….You can continue.” With a heavy heart, Esme accepted her fate of loving a man who was romantically involved with another woman on a different continent. Although she believed it was a misunderstanding, seeing that woman naked and being embraced by him made her feel the need to hear his explanation. So, Esme closed the door and retreated with a blank expression on her face.
[Hmm, Rest in peace, Host.]
Ryuk stayed quiet as Esme closed the door and vanished from sight. He gazed at the woman in his arms, undressed and seemingly unconscious from the torment and weeping. A smile crossed his face as he directed his attention to the door. He then proceeded to carry the woman in a princess-style hold towards a nearby wooden bed, declaring, “It’s funny how you don’t trust me.”
Silence~
Silence filled the room as Ryuk realized he had not received the response he had hoped for. He then retreated, placing Zhen Xiang on the bed before glancing towards an empty corner of the room and moving towards it.
Zhen Xiang lay unconscious on the bed, her body exhausted from the pain, while Ryuk moved further away from her towards a corner in the room.
“Do you think it will work on me again?” With the hint of a smile, he halted his hand just as it neared the wall and directed his gaze towards an empty space, unflinchingly keeping his eyes fixed as a gentle luminosity emanated from two golden orbs, unveiling the figure of a woman before him.
“I knew it wouldn’t,” Esme kept looking into his eyes without blinking, feeling cornered between the walls. She further added, “So, what’s with her?”
As she looked to the side, a woman lay on the bed, her naked body completely illuminated by the moonlight. While her face appeared ordinary, her body was like a work of art, boasting well-defined curves and fullness in all the right places, stirring Esme’s curiosity even further.
“Are you jealous?” Ryuk leaned back with a raised eyebrow under his mask, a smile playing on his lips as he looked at her in amusement, knowing that her composed demeanor was concealing her true expression behind the illusion. However, due to his ability, he was able to see through her.
“Yes,” Esme didn’t hide the fact and uttered boldly, looking at the man who left her alone and was now engaged in some activity which definitely didn’t sit well with her.
“I just helped her,” Ryuk, seeing her serious expression, found it necessary to clear the doubt, while his pupils tried to glance towards Zheng Xiang but only met Esme who arrived between them by teleporting there.
“What do you want to tell me?” Esme found herself positioned between the unclothed woman sprawled on the bed and the dark-cloaked man with piercing amber eyes, holding back words that he wanted to express but prevented from doing so by her evident envy.
“I wanted you to help her put on her clothes,” Ryuk calmed himself before moving outside the wooden house, realizing that staying here would just make Esme more proactive in stopping him.
“Where are you going?” Esme tried to ask about his departure, but only saw him walking off into the distance and sitting near the pond.
This sight left her slightly confused, so she then turned her attention to the naked woman lying on the bed with tear stains and noticed tight green veins all over her body upon closer inspection.

‘Now tell me, System, what was malfunctioning in Shunya?’ Ryuk sat near the pond, trying to appear unconcerned to Esme, while inquiring with his narrowed amber eyes looking towards the vast pond which seemed to have lotus flowers and frogs in some places.
[Host, as per your instructions, I needed to turn off your ability in order to analyze it.]
Ryuk’s pupils contracted upon hearing the words from the system, indicating that the system could control the restriction preventing it from taking any actions against his body, making him more conscious of the system.
Of course, he had been with it for many years, but Ryuk didn’t even trust his mother to reveal secrets of his past life memories, let alone trust the system, which had been with him since both lives.
He had several relationships in this world and even had a good family, but he never revealed his life’s secret, which clearly meant that no one was able to gain his complete trust.
The system was the only one that knew about his past life memories due to being linked to him when he was only four years old.
So, after hearing the information, Ryuk relaxed himself, placed his hand on the ground, fingers tapping with his eyes looking towards the starry sky, and asked, “And?”
[Host, there is a sealed statue inside your body.]
‘…you mean Shunya?’, Ryuk asked, receiving another piece of information from the system suggesting that the sealed statue could be the source of his ability.
[No, Shunya is actually the guardian that uses some bit of strength from the statue.]
‘You mean like a brain?’ Ryuk speculated, considering that Shunya could be using some energy from the statue by acting as some kind of processing unit.
Clarifying that his ability had its own Brain, the question remained, ‘Did you converse with that ability?’
Unlike the previous time when he came out of his coma where the sensation was completely dark while he felt lost in a place with only a little bit of strength given by his ability that was trying to protect his life.

However, after hearing System’s words, it became clear that there was another space inside his body that he had not yet visited.
[….Indeed but Shunya seems immature and uncultured.]
‘So, it’s the same as you’, Ryuk remarked from hearing the words of the system, at least coming to the conclusion that his ability was also not much different from the system, giving him another type of hassle in the form of Shunya.
[ Host, I operate at 2780 petaflops, just this much proves that I am not immature <( ̄︶ ̄)>]
‘Your speed to calculate an equation doesn’t determine the weight of your personality,’ Ryuk repeated inwardly upon hearing such words from the system, which could be considered a plain lie.
[ Huh? But….]
Before the system could say anything further, Ryuk interrupted, inquiring, ‘Did you analyze that statue?’
He asked about the origin of the statue, hoping to get a valid answer, as the system had disabled Shunya for a longer period of time, causing some issues for him.
[Host, that statue’s origin was not completely known, but while analyzing it, I noticed it acting as a repellent of heaven’s will.]
‘?!’
‘….did you find some divinity around that statue?’ enquired as his mind thought about the possibility after hearing the information provided by the system, trying to link it with the reason behind his own fate.
[ Indeed, there were golden chains binding that statue down. ]
‘Now that reveals a few things,’ after the system identified the presence of divinity near the statue, Ryuk found the puzzle pieces in his mind beginning to clarify.
Previously, he had used a demon seed on the saintess Marianne. At that time, it was slightly confusing for him, as the goddess Fela was unable to detect the implanted demon seed, which was imbued with the system’s energy.
Further complicating things was when Ryuk opened the door to his mother’s room in the Devereaux family spire. There, he discovered a letter sent to her by his father, containing content that suggested the villain’s destiny was written by the gods in his fate.
Combining these facts raised doubts in his mind.
If goddess Fela couldn’t detect a demon seed within her apostle, how was she able to change Ryuk’s fate?
Perhaps it was the work of stronger gods, but if the system was powerful enough to go unnoticed by those beings, couldn’t it have potential to change his villainous destiny as well?
But no, the system was not strong enough to alter his fate.
And today, he finally came to know about the answer to this small mystery, which finally came together into pieces and rebuilt itself as the source of his villain’s fate being the statue.
[Initializing isolating dome…..]
Upon activating, a black dome surrounded his body, and his body emitted a powerful surge of energy that rippled through the pond. This energy was strong enough to attract formidable individuals towards him, prompting the System to take countermeasures.
Ryuk clenched his jaw, struggling to contain his fury. The intense glow in his eyes, fueled by Ether, revealed to him that the gods had concealed a statue within him, disrupting the natural order of the world and triggering a backlash against the one whose body carried that statue.
Therefore, the medium that turned his fate black was the thing sealed inside his body, placed there by none other than the gods.
‘What is exactly that thing?’ Hardly able to control his anger, he tried to inquire about the thing inside his body and its origin.
[ Host, It’s slightly difficult ]
‘I see,’ Ryuk had been monitoring the challenges caused by the system for the past 6 to 7 months, analyzing the havoc it had caused in the real world, such as the malfunctioning of his immunity. The system also detected the presence of something inside his body, although it was currently unreachable.
‘Fine, now tell me issue with Shunya.’ Ryuk set aside the business related to the statue and focused on learning more about his ability.
[There isn’t an issue with it, but it’s a catastrophic situation, Host. (〒﹏〒)]
