- Chapter 103 - Chapter 103 The Beginning of Nightmares
Chapter 103: The Beginning of Nightmares Chapter 103: The Beginning of Nightmares I shouted at my team to hurry up and move to the next floor.
Though they all seemed confused, they still followed me without question.
Julius caught up with me and asked, “What’s going on, Naoki?
This dungeon feels strange!” Lyra and Amelia voiced their concerns as well.
“Are you okay, Naoki-sama?” “What happened, Naoki?” “I used [Eclipse Eyes] and saw that all the entrances on the previous floors we passed have been destroyed.
There’s also a powerful barrier preventing the professors from entering this floor and beyond, all the way to the boss room,” I explained hurriedly.
“Then… does that mean we’re trapped here?” Julius looked shocked.
“That’s right.
We have to defeat the dungeon boss as soon as possible.
I suspect this is either because the boss is about to trigger a dungeon break or because demons are interfering,” I shared my current analysis.
I was worried that the demons had begun their movements inside the dungeon, just as Arsene had warned.
“A dungeon break…?” Lyra looked speechless.
“Demons inside the dungeon… that does seem possible,” Amelia muttered, her expression showing understanding.
She, too, had received information from Arsene.
“Exactly.
That’s why we need to inform the others that we’ll be increasing our pace to descend further.
If my assumption is correct, the abnormalities in this dungeon might actually allow us to reach the boss room faster,” I said.
Understanding my command, they spread the message to the rest of the team, urging them to hurry.
It didn’t take long before we reached the 50th floor, but strangely, there was no sign of a mini-boss.
Instead, what awaited us were the battered figures of students from Class 3-A and Class 3-B lying on the ground.
They were heavily injured, but nothing that [High Heal] from Lyra and the potions I had prepared couldn’t handle.
We treated their wounds.
Julius and Termina looked deeply concerned seeing their classmates in such a state.
I could see the anger on their faces, but they tried to remain composed.
One of the Class 3-A students regained consciousness and explained what had happened.
They had fought against a mini-boss known as Dread Revenant, The Forgotten Knight (Level 60).
The mini-boss was clad in pitch-black, rusted armor.
Its body was nothing but bones, engulfed in cursed blue flames, and its eyes glowed a deep crimson, filled with hatred.
It wielded a massive cursed greatsword that could drain energy from those it wounded.
The students of Class 3-A and 3-B had faced it in battle, led by Cain’s party, which included Kael and Freya.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
They had been confident, believing in the strength of Cain-the Hero from the Flamemore Family.
Cain, who thrived in battle, had an affinity for fire, just like the Dread Revenant.
Their flames clashed-Cain’s Flamemore Swordsmanship against the Revenant’s cursed blue fire-resulting in an exhausting and drawn-out fight.
The Dread Revenant possessed several powerful skills: [Shadow Cleave] €“ A dark-powered slash that released a wide energy wave, cutting everything in its path.
[Cursed Regeneration] €“ As long as it fought, it slowly regenerated HP by draining the life force of nearby adventurers.
[Undying Wrath] €“ When its HP fell below 25%, it discarded its heavy armor, drastically increasing its attack speed and adopting a more aggressive, feral fighting style.
The battle had lasted nearly an entire day.
The students of Class 3-A and 3-B were completely exhausted, yet Cain continued fighting.
The battle seemed endless-even Kael and Freya were reaching their limits.
Just when they thought there was no way out, the dungeon suddenly trembled violently.
Then, something emerged from the doorway leading to the 51st floor.
The students of Class 3-A and 3-B couldn’t see the figure clearly, but they described it as a presence cloaked in overwhelming Dark Magic.
With almost no effort, the figure swiftly defeated the Dread Revenant and took its magic core before disappearing into the 51st floor.
Without hesitation, Cain’s group chased after the unknown figure, leaving their injured comrades behind.
Hearing this, I narrowed my eyes in thought.
A being strong enough to defeat a foe like Dread Revenant in an instant… Could it be a demon?
Perhaps even one of the Demon Warlords, like Nyx-the one I faced back at Solara Magic Academy.
Only someone on the level of a Warlord… or an Overlord… would be able to accomplish such a feat so easily.
I never expected the demons to reveal themselves just as we were on the verge of conquering this dungeon.
They must have a hidden agenda, and I was certain it involved the resurrection of the sealed Demon King.
“Naoki…
I sense a familiar Dark Magic.
This demon is as strong as Norx, or perhaps even stronger,” Amelia spoke, her voice laced with concern.
She was able to detect Dark Magic with precision through her divine magic.
“You’re right, Amelia.
This is bad.
They must be planning something with the dungeon boss!” “Naoki, we need to hurry!
The students from Class 3-A and 3-B have recovered.
What should we do next?” Julius asked, awaiting my command as the leader of our team.
I paused for a moment, then suddenly, a thought crossed my mind-Envi.
He spoke within my consciousness, noting that he hadn’t seen Professor Aldin, who was supposed to be accompanying us in the dungeon.
That reminded me-Professor Aldin had followed Cain and his team.
I immediately turned to the students we had rescued on this floor and inquired about Professor Aldin’s whereabouts.
They confirmed that he had indeed gone with Cain’s team to the next floor, personally escorting them.
Understanding this, I realized that Professor Aldin was likely keeping an eye on Cain in case he lost control or if the situation worsened-just like now.
I quickly formulated a plan.
“Alright!
Listen up, everyone.
We will descend to the next floor at full speed.
If we stay here any longer, this dungeon might collapse, triggering a dungeon break.
That’s why we need to move forward until we find Professor Aldin-he should have a teleportation stone.
We can use it to escape from here.” I spoke firmly, hoping to dispel the unease among my team.
The once hopeless expressions on their faces gradually shifted to determination as they listened to my plan.
However, Marius suddenly raised a question.
“Then what about the dungeon boss, Naoki?
If we leave it, it will escape and lead an army of monsters to attack the Braveheart Kingdom.” “That’s true, Naoki.
Maybe we should defeat it first and then leave with Professor Aldin,” Julius added, trying to find the most effective course of action.
I understood their concerns.
I then turned to Amelia and Lyra, who had approached me, clutching my arm with worried expressions.
I smiled at them, reassuring them that everything would be fine.
Resolving myself, I spoke to everyone, “I will fight the dungeon boss alongside Cain, who is most likely battling it as we speak.
You don’t need to worry.
Wait for us outside the dungeon.
Cain von Flamemore is a hero of the Braveheart Kingdom.
Even though he is rough and a battle maniac, I can guarantee that he is strong!” I hadn’t wanted to say that, but I knew the team needed a solid belief to hold onto.
I continued, “I, too, am a future hero of the Braveheart Kingdom.
I, Naoki von Blackmore, have defeated Norx the Warlord, ranked 5th, back at Solara Magic Academy.
Trust me on this!” I declared, not wanting to risk any more casualties among my team and the others here.
Silence filled the air.
For a moment, I feared that my words had failed to convince them.
But then- “We’re counting on you, Naoki!” “We believe in you and Cain!
Conquer this dungeon!” “We’ll follow your command, Naoki!” Hearing their voices lifted the weight on my chest.
I smiled and clenched my fist.
With that, we steeled ourselves and prepared to descend at full speed.
…
We quickly made our way down through the floors-51, 52, 53, 54, 55.
Strangely, we encountered no significant obstacles.
The puzzles that once blocked each floor had been destroyed, and the paths leading downward were wide open.
All we encountered were the remnants of monsters, likely left behind by Cain’s team as they focused on pursuing the mysterious figure all the way to the boss floor.
Wasting no time, I led my team deeper into the dungeon.
Finally, we reached the very edge of Floor 59.
Before us stood a massive door leading to Floor 60-the boss room.
If our assumptions were correct, Cain’s team and Professor Aldin should be there.
Bracing myself, I placed both hands on the door and pushed it open.
As soon as the door creaked ajar, a suffocating pressure of pure malevolence surged outward.
The sheer intensity of its aura was enough to make us dizzy.
I steadied myself, took a deep breath, and led the way inside.
We proceeded cautiously until we reached the grand entrance of the boss room.
The area was littered with signs of an intense battle-scorch marks, shattered weapons, and deep gouges on the floor and walls.
We couldn’t begin to imagine what had transpired here.
Julius and I exchanged glances before gripping the massive double doors together and pulling them open.
…
…
“This…
this is impossible!” The sight before us was grim.
Cain’s team was cornered.
Even Professor Aldin looked exhausted.
Freya was on her knees, drenched in blood.
Kael lay slumped against a wall, his body battered and bleeding.
Professor Aldin desperately channeled healing magic to mend their wounds.
And at the center of it all- Cain stood tall, gripping his sword tightly with its left arm severed, facing off against the dungeon boss.
But there was another figure standing above the boss, it’s the Demon Warlords.
