- Chapter 106 - Chapter 106 Vorx and Zorx
Chapter 106: Vorx and Zorx Chapter 106: Vorx and Zorx Freya POV: We were all caught in the explosion unleashed by the awakened dungeon boss, born from that cursed crimson demon crystal.
The dungeon boss was a human statue with six wings behind him, he looked like a hermit but had an angry looking face.
He was obsidian in color but had a hint of red due to the demon elixir crystal controlling him.
Somehow, Kael and I managed to endure the blast, even though we were sent flying.
Cain, however, stood his ground, completely unscathed.
His powerful Force Aura shielded him from the attack.
Kael and I exchanged glances, feeling only mild pain.
Our injuries weren’t severe.
That’s when we noticed it-our bodies were enveloped in a protective magic barrier.
“You… could it be…?!” Kael gasped.
“Professor Alden?!” I turned around in shock.
Standing behind us was none other than Professor Alden.
He had been following us all along without our knowledge, protecting Kael and me with his magic.
At Braveheart Knight Academy, Professor Alden was known as one of the most talented Magic Knights.
He specialized in both defensive magic and powerful elemental attacks.
With his abilities, he could have easily served at the heart of the Braveheart Kingdom, yet he chose to become a professor, dedicating himself to nurturing the next generation of magic wielders.
“Why are you here, Professor?” I asked, still trying to process his sudden appearance.
“I apologize for tailing you, but I had a bad feeling about this dungeon,” Professor Alden admitted.
“Who would have thought we’d end up fighting both a demon and the dungeon boss at the same time?” Raising his staff, he pointed it toward the enemies before us-the monstrous dungeon boss and the sinister demon beside it.
The demon let out a mocking laugh.
“Another pathetic human?
As if one more weakling will change anything.” His voice dripped with arrogance as he sneered at us.
Cain, however, grinned in excitement.
“Oh?
Now this is getting interesting!
Professor Alden, huh?
I don’t know what you’re capable of, but let’s take these bastards down!” With those words, Cain raised his sword and charged straight at the demon.
Professor Alden immediately followed his lead, while Kael and I moved alongside them, preparing our own attacks.
The demon cast [Space Slash], unleashing invisible slashes through the air, while the dungeon boss above us activated [Curse of the Swamp], a powerful hex that slowed our movements.
“Invisible attacks!
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
This is dangerous!” I shouted in warning.
“I already expected this-[High Support Magic: Magic Reflector]!” Professor Alden summoned a massive mirror-like barrier.
The demon’s invisible slashes bounced right off it, reversing the attack and forcing the enemies to dodge.
Meanwhile, Cain negated the curse affecting him with his overwhelming Force Aura.
Without hesitation, he unleashed his skill-[Flamemore Swordsmanship: Blazing Tempest].
His blade became a fiery whirlwind, generating a scorching vortex that engulfed both the demon and the dungeon boss.
The sheer heat of his attacks created a blazing storm that devoured everything in its path.
Seizing the moment, I activated [Flamemore Swordsmanship: Flare Strike], while Kael unleashed [Flamemore Magic Sword Release: Ignis Strike].
Our flames intertwined into a devastating surge of fire, striking at the enemies with full force.
The explosion of heat and power made it seem as though we had defeated them.
But then- Cain and Professor Alden suddenly tensed, their expressions turning grim.
Before we could react, something-or someone-absorbed our combined inferno.
The scorching flames we had unleashed were drawn into the figure of a man who had appeared in the center of the battlefield.
He stood between us and the dungeon boss, effortlessly nullifying our attacks.
Our blood ran cold.
“So, it’s my turn now, Vorx,” the newcomer said, grinning as he stretched his muscular arms.
His skin was deep red, his long crimson horns gleamed menacingly, and his massive frame radiated an oppressive heat.
He wielded an enormous greatsword, its molten edges glowing with searing intensity.
His entire presence felt like a living volcano.
“I’ve been waiting for this… Humans who wield fire magic?
How amusing.
I can’t wait to crush you all.” The demon woman-Vorx-smirked at the newcomer.
“Took you long enough, Zorx.
Now let’s slaughter these worthless humans and begin the ritual.” “No way…” Professor Alden and Cain stiffened, their expressions darkening with realization.
“Vorx… I suspected you were a Demon Warlord,” Professor Alden muttered, his voice heavy.
“But to think… your partner, Zorx, another Demon Warlord, would be here as well… This is insane.” Professor Alden began explaining the details about the two Demon Warlords.
He had gathered this information from Arsene, the head of Braveheart Knight Academy, as well as from historical records detailing the appearances of demons throughout history.
First, he spoke of Vorx, known as The Labyrinth Lord.
His ability allowed him to create and manipulate space at will.
Anyone who stepped into his domain would be hopelessly lost, trapped in an endless maze with no way out.
Many knights had perished within his labyrinths, wandering until exhaustion or despair claimed them.
Worse still, he could collapse any space under his control, erasing it from existence in an instant.
Hearing this, I finally understood-the reason why this dungeon had been shaking violently earlier, why the floors had become so unstable.
It was because Vorx was controlling the dungeon itself, bending it to his will by manipulating the dungeon boss.
With his power, he could reshape the very structure of the dungeon and even erase parts of it at will, creating deadly unseen attacks.
Here, inside this dungeon, he was nearly invincible.
Then, Professor Alden moved on to the second Demon Warlord-the one who had recently appeared.
Zorx, The Apocalypse Inferno.
A demon who brought destruction through waves of lava and raging firestorms.
With every swing of his blade, volcanic eruptions would burst forth, consuming everything in their path.
His very presence distorted the air with unbearable heat, capable of melting steel in an instant.
On the battlefield, he was a walking inferno, a living disaster that reduced the world to ashes.
Kael and I were speechless.
Zorx’s abilities were eerily similar to Cain’s.
Both wielded fire-elemental attacks, and both were highly skilled swordsmen.
I couldn’t tell which of them was stronger-but from the way Zorx carried himself, it was obvious that he lived for battle, just like Cain.
Suddenly, a deep, menacing laughter echoed through the dungeon.
“Hah…
I must admit, I’m quite pleased,” Vorx sneered.
“For mere lowly humans, you’ve done well to know this much about me and Zorx.” Beside him, Zorx chuckled darkly.
His burning eyes locked onto us, his voice filled with bloodlust.
“But knowing won’t save you.” He grinned.
“I don’t feel like being patient today.
I think I’ll just wipe you out now.” Amid in that moment, Cain’s lips curled into a manic grin.
His aura flared wildly as he laughed.
“Two Demon Warlords….This is incredible!!” His battle hunger burned even brighter.
I, on the other hand, felt my stomach drop.
“Two Demon Warlords?
We’re actually fighting them…?” This wasn’t just a difficult battle.
It was a death sentence.
Only Cain had the strength of a hero.
The rest of us-there was no way we could win.
“We need reinforcements!” Kael yelled desperately.
But Zorx sneered.
“Who do you want to ask for help?” With a flash, he teleported behind us, his blade burning with molten fury.
“Damn it-!!” Kael and I barely had time to react as he swung his magma-forged sword at us.
If that attack landed, we’d be incinerated instantly.
“YOU’RE FIGHTING ME, YOU BASTARD!!” Cain roared as he intercepted the strike, throwing himself between us and the attack.
BOOM!
We were all sent flying from the sheer force of the collision.
I hit the ground hard, my armor cracking, my body battered.
Blood dripped from my wounds, but I was still alive.
Kael crashed into a wall, groaning in pain.
Professor Alden had once again shielded us with his magic, lessening the damage.
But Cain- Cain stood firm, having blocked Zorx’s devastating strike.
However, something was wrong.
His left arm- His left arm was missing.
The magma-infused slash had landed first.
He had used his own arm to shield himself from the fatal attack.
“K-Kael…” Kael’s eyes widened in horror as he screamed, his voice filled with disbelief and anguish.
“Brother… Your arm…!
No… This can’t be happening…!!” …
…
Blood dripped onto the dungeon floor.
The sharp, acrid scent of burnt flesh filled the air.
Cain stood there, his left arm gone, the wound seared shut by the sheer heat of Zorx’s magma blade.
Yet, despite the agony he must have been feeling, his expression never wavered.
His grin, though now laced with pain, remained as fierce as ever.
Kael, his face pale, staggered forward.
“Brother… Your arm… We need to-” “Shut up, Kael,” Cain cut him off, rolling his uninjured shoulder.
“I don’t need two arms to kill these bastards.” His aura flared wildly, crackling with raw power.
Even with a grievous injury, his fighting spirit refused to falter.
Zorx’s molten eyes gleamed with amusement.
“Not bad, human.
You actually survived.
I almost feel bad for you.” He smirked, resting his massive sword on his shoulder.
“Almost.” Vorx, the demon woman, chuckled.
“Look at him, Zorx.
Still acting tough even with one arm.
How pathetic.” Cain’s grin widened.
“Pathetic?
Then come closer and say that, you demonic hag.” Vorx’s smirk vanished.
A flicker of anger flashed in her eyes.
“You have a death wish.” Before she could move, Professor Alden slammed his staff against the ground.
The air trembled as golden light erupted from the floor, forming intricate magic circles around us.
“[High Support Magic: Grand Barrier]!” A massive dome of radiant energy surrounded us, reinforcing our defenses.
The protective magic pulsated with divine energy, forming an impenetrable shield against any further surprise attacks.
“I won’t let you kill my students that easily,” Alden declared, his voice resolute.
Zorx let out a low chuckle, his fiery gaze locked onto Professor Alden.
“Nice trick, professor.
But let’s see how long you can hold out.” With a wicked grin, he raised his sword high.
Instantly, the entire dungeon trembled as rivers of molten lava seeped from the cracks in the stone, filling the air with suffocating heat.
The dimly lit chamber was now bathed in a sinister crimson glow.
Then, in a single downward slash, Zorx unleashed a cataclysmic wave of molten destruction.
“[Volcanic Judgment]!” A tidal wave of searing lava surged forward, crashing violently against Alden’s barrier of light.
The protective dome flickered and trembled under the sheer force of the attack, cracks beginning to form as the intense heat threatened to shatter it completely.
At the same time, Vorx commanded the dungeon boss, ordering it to unleash a cursed spell.
“[Curse of Weakening]!” A dark, malevolent energy spread across the battlefield, engulfing us in a suffocating aura.
Our defenses plummeted.
Our strength diminished.
Alden’s barrier faltered, its glow dimming as the curse ate away at its magic.
Just before it could shatter completely, Cain stepped forward.
“[Flamemore Swordsmanship: Crimson Eruption]!” He drove his sword into the ground, igniting a massive surge of molten energy that erupted from below.
Lava burst into the air, raining down in fiery embers and clashing against Zorx’s attack with overwhelming force.
I gritted my teeth.
If Cain was giving it his all, so would I!
“[Flamemore Swordsmanship: Crimson Eruption]!” I mirrored his movements, slamming my own sword into the ground.
A second eruption of flames surged forth, joining Cain’s attack.
“[Flamemore Magic Sword Release: Hellfire Crescent Slash!]” Kael leaped forward, unleashing a massive, crescent-shaped slash of pure hellfire, reinforcing our counterattack.
The dungeon trembled under the immense clash of fire against fire, lava against lava-until finally, we managed to push Zorx’s attack back.
The flames dispersed into embers, leaving the battlefield scorched but intact.
Zorx, however, only laughed in excitement.
“Oh?
Not bad!
Not bad at all!” he shouted gleefully, his eyes burning with battle lust.
But just as we started to catch our breath, Vorx made his move.
“[Spatial Smash]!” A crushing force slammed into me, Kael, and Professor Alden, sending us flying away from Cain.
The impact sent shockwaves through my body as I crashed against the cold dungeon floor.
Meanwhile, Cain was left alone, forced to fend off Zorx’s relentless barrage of sword strikes and firestorms.
Professor Alden quickly tried to heal Kael and me, but Vorx wasn’t about to let that happen.
“[Space Slash]!” I barely had time to react-an invisible blade of space itself was already racing toward me.
I couldn’t see it.
I couldn’t dodge it.
“Freya, move!” Kael and Professor Alden shouted.
Cain, noticing the danger, immediately tried to rush toward me.
But it was too late.
The attack was only inches away-I had no choice but to brace myself, gripping my sword tightly.
As the attack closed in, a single name flashed through my mind.
Naoki-dono… The person I cherished more than anything.
The one I longed to see again.
And then- “FREYA!” The dungeon door suddenly burst open.
A blur of motion streaked across the battlefield, moving faster than my eyes could follow.
“[Blackmore Katana Style: Yanagi Uke!]” A powerful clang echoed through the air.
The invisible attack was deflected-redirected toward Zorx, catching him off guard and sending him skidding backward.
I gasped in shock.
Standing before me, his sword still raised from the deflection, was Naoki-dono.
“Are you hurt, Freya?” His voice was steady, yet filled with concern.
Behind him, his team had arrived, including Lyra, who stood ready for battle.
As the adrenaline wore off, I felt my knees weaken.
Before I could collapse, Naoki-dono gently caught me, supporting my trembling body.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I clung to him.
“Naoki-dono…” He smiled reassuringly, his warmth anchoring me.
“Everything will be fine, Freya.
I’m here now.” His words ignited a fire inside me.
I wiped my tears away and forced myself to stand once more.
The battle wasn’t over.
With renewed determination, I raised my sword.
The real fight had only just begun.
