- Reincarnated as a failed hero?! Watch me Defy Fate!
- Chapter 112 - Chapter 112 The Worst Case
Chapter 112: The Worst Case Chapter 112: The Worst Case Nao’s POV: I was still trapped inside Vorx’s ultimate skill, [Ultimate Dark Magic: Pandemonium Labyrinth]-a hellish maze packed with monsters constantly attacking me from every direction.
Staying calm, I continued slicing through each monster that crossed my path.
Vorx stood atop a high tower made of magma and monster bones.
From there, she controlled the beasts and prepared another wave of magic to crush me.
“Watch out!
She’s planning a new attack!” Envi’s voice rang in my head, warning me just in time.
Almost immediately, Vorx cast [Invisible Blade] and [Ground Spikes].
The spells launched one after another in a relentless barrage.
“Ugh, damn it!
She can spam magic like crazy because her mana is infinite in here.
That’s just cheating,” I muttered, weaving through the attacks with [Yanagi Uke] to deflect them.
But as more monsters poured in, I was slowly pushed to my limit.
Whenever I couldn’t block an attack with my katana, I used [Dark Magic: Veil of the Phantom] to absorb the incoming hits.
Despite taking a few of Vorx’s attacks, I kept my health up by mowing down weaker monsters.
Thanks to the passive effect of [The Bonehowl Ring], I restored 5% of my HP every time I killed a lower-leveled enemy.
Seeing me still standing, Vorx shouted from her perch, “Impossible!
How are you still alive?!
I’ve attacked you with hundreds of monsters and you haven’t even fallen once!” “I won’t go down to your pathetic magic!” I shouted back, trying to provoke her.
Her face twisted in anger as she summoned even more monsters.
I was starting to feel overwhelmed, but I searched for an opening to attack him directly.
Even as I defeated wave after wave of creatures, my arms began to tremble from holding my katana for so long.
This was becoming a battle of endurance.
If things kept up, I’d lose.
I needed to take her out now!
I gathered my strength and activated [Blackmore Katana Style: Dark Aura Katana].
My blade became cloaked in dark energy, extending its reach and massively increasing its damage.
One swing was enough to take down ten monsters at once.
I hacked my way through them until Envi’s voice echoed again.
“Nao!
Let me take over.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
This is going to be a long fight-you need to conserve your stamina for the dungeon boss, just in case he hasn’t lost out there yet.” I nodded but decided to launch one more attack before switching.
Activating [Kasoseki], I doubled my speed and zipped around the labyrinth, annihilating the surrounding monsters.
Vorx looked completely disoriented, unable to follow my movements.
I closed the distance and unleashed [Blackmore Katana Style: TenshÅ KÅsen]-a high-speed long-range slash.
SLASH!
The black energy blade tore through Vorx’s shoulder, knocking her off his tower.
With her grounded, I handed control to Envi and took a breather to reassess the situation.
“This is what I’ve been waiting for!
Time to finish you off, you bastard demon!” Envi roared, taking over my body and leaping toward Vorx.
Envi used [Inazuma] to attempt an iai slash, but Vorx blocked it by throwing monsters in front of her as living shields.
“YOU FILTHY HUMAN!
How dare you do this to me!” Vorx raged, her body dripping with blood.
But her wounds slowly began to heal, thanks to the regenerative effects of his domain’s ultimate magic.
“I’m not letting you heal!” Envi growled, relentlessly pressing the attack and forcing Vorx onto the defensive.
Envi seemed to be enjoying himself.
It looked like he’d been waiting a long time to face off against demons like this.
While he fought, I analyzed our surroundings, searching for a way out of the labyrinth.
An idea struck me-I suggested using [Power of Incarnation].
Envi gave me a determined nod.
The battle became more brutal.
Both Envi and Vorx were drenched in blood, locked in a near-even fight.
Envi finally broke through Vorx’s defense with [Dark Magic: Phantom Slash], tearing through his monster army and reaching her.
Vorx stumbled back, but before Envi could land a finishing blow, she grinned and pulled out a grimoire.
Dark magic erupted from the pages, paralyzing Envi in place.
“Got you!” Vorx howled with laughter as she gathered all his power for a final attack.
“Envi, this is bad.
He’s casting something huge!” I warned Envi.
“You have to use [Power of Incarnation].
You’ve been charging it all this time!” “I KNOW THAT, YOU LOUDMOUTH!” Envi barked, focusing every ounce of strength into his katana.
Vorx finished her chant, her eyes filled with glee.
“DIE HERE!
[Ultimate Dark Magic: Pandemonium Labyrinth EXPLOSION]!” The entire labyrinth shook violently.
Explosions erupted from every corner, wiping out all the monsters and turning the labyrinth into rubble.
Only a dark void remained.
Hovering above us, Vorx sneered as she watched Envi dodge falling debris and the barrage of explosions.
“I’ll end you with this void!” Vorx shouted.
But Envi tightened his grip on the katana, his aura blazing with dark energy.
This was our final stand.
And no matter what, we would survive.
“NOW, ENVI!
FINISH HIM!” I shouted at the top of my lungs.
Envi suddenly appeared behind Vorx, having climbed the fallen debris of the labyrinth without being noticed.
Vorx flinched in shock as Envi’s blade loomed over her.
Without wasting a second, Envi activated [Power of Incarnation: Yami Gui no Giri]-a devastating dark aura slash that engulfed his entire target.
The massive slash completely destroyed the right half of Vorx’s body, along with her grimoire and this dimension, which disintegrated into particles of darkness.
“AAARGH!” Vorx screamed in agony, her ultimate magic collapsing along with the dimension.
Cracks splintered through the air around us until the entire labyrinth shattered, bringing us back to the dungeon boss chamber.
THUD!
Vorx crashed into the ground, landing near Valg and Zorx-both of whom were already beaten and lying on the floor.
Vorx, especially, seemed moments away from death after Envi’s brutal assault.
Envi stepped out of the teleportation circle, scanning the room.
Team Amelia had successfully defeated Valg, whose battered form lay motionless.
Team Cain, on the other hand, had backed Zorx into a corner as he struggled to stand.
Amelia’s eyes lit up when she saw us.
“You’re back!” “Good work, Amelia… Lyra, Freya, everyone.” Envi’s words carried a warmth that made the whole room feel lighter.
The entire team erupted in cheers as if celebrating a hard-won victory.
Except for Cain, who scowled.
His irritation was obvious-he didn’t like having his fight with Zorx interrupted.
Envi couldn’t resist teasing him.
“I didn’t know you were so cool, Cain!
That fire armor of yours is amazing!
But you still haven’t beaten anyone as strong as Vorx.
HAHAHAHA!” Cain’s temper flared.
“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY, YOU BASTARD?!
I was this close to finishing off that demon scum Zorx!” Before he could charge at Envi, loud laughter interrupted them.
“HAHAHAHAHA!
PATHETIC HUMANS!
YOU ACTUALLY FORCED US TO DO THIS!” It was Zorx.
He had somehow risen to his feet and approached Vorx’s half-ruined body.
“Your job isn’t over, Vorx.” Zorx’s voice was dark with determination, and Vorx gave him a slow, weak nod.
“I’m sorry…we will meet again.” Zorx said that with a sad face.
But trying to be strong.
Zorx suddenly grabbed Vorx’s body, driving his hand deep into Vorx’s chest.
He ripped out her heart and planted it into Valg’s forehead.
Our entire group froze in horror at what they were attempting.
Valg let out a bloodcurdling scream, his eyes turning completely red.
Dark magical veins spread across his entire body as it fused with Vorx’s heart.
Before our very eyes, Vorx’s face emerged on Valg’s forehead.
“HAHAHAHA!
I’M BACK AGAIN, YOU FOOLS!” “No way… This can’t be happening!” someone from the team gasped.
The atmosphere turned suffocating.
All the hope we’d built up shattered.
Everyone-including Amelia, Lyra, Freya, Julius, and Professor Aldin-looked utterly devastated.
We’d fought so hard to take down Valg and Zorx, and now they were standing again, stronger than ever.
“Time for the real show to begin!” Vorx roared.
“[Dungeon Boss Authorization: Dungeon Break!]” The entire dungeon trembled violently, as if ready to collapse at any moment.
“[Dungeon Boss Authorization: Exit Teleportation!]” A large magic circle appeared beneath Zorx.
Zorx grinned as the teleportation spell began.
“I don’t enjoy leaving fights unfinished, but I have a job to do.
I’LL SLAUGHTER EVERYONE OUTSIDE THIS DUNGEON WITH MY DUNGEON BREAK MONSTERS!” Hearing that, Cain immediately lunged toward him, but it was too late-the teleportation circle sealed, and Zorx vanished.
Cain let out a frustrated roar, slamming his fist into the ground.
The weight of Zorx’s words crushed us.
Amelia’s face went pale with panic; she must be thinking about her sister, Arsene.
“This is bad.
Even though the headmaster Arsene is out there and leading the outer defense of the dungeon with the professors, I don’t know if they can defeat Zorx.
Even Cain the hero hasn’t managed to defeat him-he must be very strong!” My mind raced.
This is the worst-case scenario… If Zorx unleashes those monsters, Arsene, the professors, the Braveheart Knight Academy students, even the kingdom’s citizens will be slaughtered!
This couldn’t be allowed to happen.
We had to stop them.
Somehow.
I shook off the rising despair and take back my body control from Envi who was brimming with rage.
“Calm down, everyone!” I shouted, pulling all attention to me.
I laid out the plan.
“We’ll split into two teams.
One team will head out and stop Zorx and the Dungeon Break monsters.
The other team will stay here to defeat Vorx once and for all.” “We’ll use Professor Aldin’s teleportation crystal to get outside,” I continued.
The professor gave a firm nod, pulling out his crystal.
After a moment of silence, I divided the teams.
I would stay behind to face Vorx, while Cain would lead the charge to take down Zorx outside.
There was no time to hesitate.
We were all battered, bruised, and exhausted.
But if we failed here, the Braveheart Kingdom would fall.
