- Reincarnated as a failed hero?! Watch me Defy Fate!
- Chapter 114 - Chapter 114 A Battle Beyond Time
Chapter 114: A Battle Beyond Time Chapter 114: A Battle Beyond Time Amelia stood in the center of the room, her trembling hands clutching her staff as she struggled to channel a stronger magic that could break the high-tier curses Vorx had placed upon us.
Her first attempt, [Holy Light], had failed-it wasn’t enough to dispel the [Cursed of Seal] and [Cursed of Agony] that shackled us.
These curses were no ordinary spells; they seeped into our very souls, threatening to shatter both body and will.
“I need more time,” Amelia said, her voice heavy with determination.
“I’ll prepare something stronger, but you must hold her off until I’m ready.
If I fail…” Her voice trailed off, but the gravity of her words hung in the air like a storm cloud.
I turned to Marius, Julius, and Termina, my voice firm.
“Protect Amelia at all costs.
She’s our only chance to end this.” Just as Amelia began chanting her spell, her voice rang out, sharp and urgent.
“Naoki!
Listen to me!” I turned to her, startled, as she shouted over the sounds of battle.
“Vorx has absorbed Valg, the dungeon boss we defeated!
Be careful-Valg’s power allows her to rewind time in this area when she’s cornered.
She’ll return to an uninjured state, but our stamina and magic won’t recover.
It’s a battle of attrition-we won’t last if this keeps happening!” Her words hit me like a hammer.
It all made sense now: the exhaustion etched into everyone’s faces, their drained magic reserves, the sheer desperation in their movements.
They’d been caught in an endless loop of time, forced to fight Vorx over and over again, only to have their progress erased with every rewind.
I clenched my fists, my mind racing.
Envi’s voice echoed in my head, calm yet grim.
“Naoki, this fight isn’t just about strength-it’s about endurance.
Vorx is playing the long game, waiting for you all to exhaust yourselves.
But if you can predict her next move using Valg’s patterns, you might find an opening.” “Then we’ll take her down in one strike,” I muttered under my breath, determination burning in my chest.
I rushed to Lyra and Professor Alden, both of whom were visibly drained.
Sweat dripped from their brows, and their breaths came in ragged gasps.
I handed each of them an MP potion-the last ones we had.
“Drink these,” I urged.
“We need you both at full strength.” They hesitated.
“We can manage,” Lyra said, though her shaking hands betrayed her words.
Professor Alden shook his head.
“Save them for yourself-you’ll need it more than us.” “No,” I said firmly, meeting their eyes.

“You’re the key to holding Vorx back while Amelia prepares her magic.
Without you, we don’t stand a chance.” At last, they relented, drinking the potions.
Color returned to their faces as their mana reserves replenished, but I knew this was only a temporary reprieve.
“Lyra,” I said, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“Can you keep her pinned down a bit longer?
I’ll be right there with you.” Lyra looked up at me, her eyes shining with resolve.
“I’m more than ready, Naoki-sama.” She gave me a confident smile, and for a moment, I saw how far she had come.
Gone was the frightened girl I had met at the start of our journey.
In her place stood a warrior, unshaken even in the face of a demon like Vorx.
“I’m counting on you, Lyra,” I said softly.
Her cheeks flushed, and she nodded quickly.
Professor Alden stepped forward, gripping his staff tightly.
“Naoki, I’ll use my trump card.
It’ll drain everything I have, but if it gives us the opening we need, it’ll be worth it.
Once the curse is lifted, you have to finish her.” “We’ll finish her together,” I said, giving him a firm nod.
“Let’s do this.” Before we could act, Vorx reemerged from the swirling shadows, her presence oppressive and suffocating.
Her laughter echoed through the chamber as she unleashed [Invisible Blade], a series of unseen strikes that cut through the air with deadly precision.
“Lyra!” I shouted, activating [Eclipse Eyes] to track the attacks.
“She’s aiming for Amelia-block it!” Without hesitation, Lyra cast [Support Magic: Barrier], erecting a shimmering shield that deflected the invisible strikes.
The air crackled with energy as the barrier absorbed the impact.
Lyra didn’t stop there-she followed up with [Water Magic: Water Prison], trapping Vorx in a massive, swirling sphere of water.
The prison restricted her movements, buying us precious time.
“Now!” Professor Alden roared, his voice filled with power.
He began weaving his magic, combining earth, fire, and lightning into a single, devastating spell.
I watched in awe as the elements merged, creating a new form of magic that pulsed with raw energy.
“[Metal Magic: Shrapnel Burst]!” he shouted, releasing a storm of razor-sharp metal fragments that tore through the air.
The shards struck Vorx from all directions, piercing her flesh and forcing a howl of pain from her lips.
Vorx writhed within the water prison, her massive, grotesque form struggling against the combined assault.
Her screams reverberated through the chamber, but we weren’t done yet.
Professor Alden raised his staff high, his voice booming like thunder.
“Take this-[High Metal Magic: Stormforge Cataclysm]!” The ground beneath Vorx erupted as molten metal pillars shot upward, impaling her body with searing intensity.
A massive lightning bolt followed, striking the molten metal and sending a deafening explosion through the chamber.
The sheer force of the attack lit up the room, casting sharp shadows against the walls.
Vorx screamed again, her voice shrill and filled with fury.
But she wasn’t finished.
She thrashed violently, breaking free of the water prison.
Her bloodied form glowed with a dark, malevolent energy.
I tightened my grip on my weapon, my heart pounding in my chest.
This wasn’t over-not yet.
Our combined attacks struck Vorx head-on, with the molten metal pillars from Professor Alden’s [Stormforge Cataclysm] piercing her grotesque, twisted form.
She let out a blood-curdling scream, a sound filled with rage, agony, and desperation.
But Vorx wasn’t one to go down easily.
In a final, desperate bid, she raised her trembling hands and conjured [Random Spike], aiming jagged, deadly shards at Professor Alden and Lyra.
But I was ready for her.
“Not this time!” I roared, channeling all my energy into [Dark Magic: Veil of the Phantom].
A swirling vortex of dark magic erupted in front of me, absorbing Vorx’s attack before it could touch anyone.
The dark shards vanished into the abyss, leaving only silence in their wake.
Then, Amelia’s voice cut through the tension, clear and powerful.
“Naoki!
I’m ready!” She raised her hands high into the air, its tip glowing with divine energy.
[High Divine Magic: Rain of Purify] erupted from the heavens.
A brilliant rain of radiant light fell over the battlefield like a celestial waterfall, bathing every corner of the room in warmth.
The oppressive weight of the [Cursed of Seal] and [Cursed of Agony] lifted from all of us, and for the first time, I felt the heavy chains that had bound my soul break apart.
Lyra and Professor Alden collapsed to their knees, their magic completely drained.
They had pushed themselves to the limit, but they had done their job-Vorx was now weakened and lying on the ground, vulnerable for the first time.
Seeing our opportunity, I shouted, “Now’s our chance!
Everyone, attack!” Julius, Marius, Termina, and I rushed forward in unison.
From a distance, Termina notched her bow and activated her ultimate ability: [Stormheim Archery: Lightning Pierce Arrow].
A crackling arrow of lightning shot forth, faster than the eye could see.
The arrow struck Vorx’s magical barriers with immense force, shattering what remained of her defenses.
Vorx’s eyes, now filled with fury and desperation, glowed with dark energy.
She began chanting an incantation that sent a chill down my spine.
“I won’t lose here.
[The Cursed of Eternal Stagnation]!” A dark magic circle formed beneath her, ancient runes glowing with ominous light.
She was attempting to rewind time by ten minutes, undoing all of our progress.
If she succeeded, everything we had fought for would be erased.
Marius’s eyes widened in realization.
“Not on my watch!” he bellowed, slamming his massive shield into the ground with [High Tank Skill: Earthshatter].
A massive tremor rippled across the floor, shaking the entire chamber and breaking Vorx’s concentration just long enough to disrupt the spell.
But even as she stumbled, Vorx roared with defiance and began to force Marius back through sheer brute strength.
Professor Alden, despite his exhaustion, wasn’t about to let Vorx regain control.
“I won’t let you hurt my students!
[High Metal Magic: Magnetic Surge]!” A wave of magnetic energy surged through the room, slamming into Vorx and pinning her to the ground.
Her movements became sluggish, and every attempt to rise left her completely exposed.
Julius and I didn’t waste a second.
We charged at Vorx, blades drawn, our speed amplified by the cleansing rain.
Just as we closed in, Vorx let out a dark, maniacal laugh.
“HAHAHAHA!
FOOLISH HUMANS!
DID YOU REALLY THINK I’D LET THIS HAPPEN?!” Despite her weakened state, Vorx unleashed a titanic burst of mana.
The entire room trembled as chaotic energy flooded the battlefield.
Professor Alden’s magnetic field began to falter under the immense pressure.
“I was going to rewind time, but now I’ll kill you all instead!
[Cursed of Slothful]!” A black, oppressive aura swept over the entire room.
My body felt like it was moving through molasses-every motion slowed to a crawl.
It was as if time itself had nearly stopped.
My limbs felt heavy, and I could barely breathe.
“YOU COWARD!” I shouted through gritted teeth, summoning every ounce of strength to activate [Kasoseki].
Dark magic began to wrap around me, but even that wasn’t enough to break free of the curse.
Vorx approached, laughing cruelly.
Her blows came down on Julius and me like a relentless storm.
Every punch and kick sent shockwaves through my body.
Blood filled my mouth, and pain blurred my vision.
Julius, though battered and barely standing, refused to collapse.
In this desperate moment, Amelia made a bold decision.
Using the last of her magic, she broke the curse binding Lyra.
“Now, Lyra!” she cried.
Lyra’s eyes burned with determination.
Without hesitation, she cast [Support Magic: Haste 10X] and [Support Magic: Booster 10X] on Julius and me.
The effect was instantaneous.
Energy flooded my body, and the sluggishness vanished.
My speed and strength surged tenfold, and Julius’s aura flared with blinding radiance.
Lyra fell to the ground, her magic completely drained.
I clenched my fists.
“Great job, Lyra!
Amelia!” “Now’s our chance, Julius!” Julius’s eyes locked on Vorx.
He dashed forward with incredible speed, his blade glowing with the brilliance of a star.
“[Starlight Swordsmanship: Nova Breaker, Full Burst]!” A massive sphere of light erupted from his sword, crashing into Vorx with the force of a supernova.
The purifying energy tore through her remaining defenses, leaving her completely exposed.
I followed up with my ultimate spell: [High Dark Magic: Nightmare Tempest, Hundred Shadows].
Ten shadow clones of myself materialized, each wielding dark katana.
Together, we unleashed a relentless storm of slashes, cutting into Vorx from every angle at blinding speed.
Each strike resonated with dark energy, and Vorx’s howls of pain filled the chamber.
Her grotesque form began to fracture under the onslaught.
Cracks of light spread across her body as her essence began to break apart.
