- Chapter 116 - Chapter 116 I Just Want to be Like You
Chapter 116: I Just Want to be Like You Chapter 116: I Just Want to be Like You Kael’s POV: I stood alongside Freya, Leopold, and Erine’s team, fighting off the dungeon break monsters that relentlessly attacked the knights stationed here.
One after another, the creatures fell, but there was no end in sight.
Meanwhile, Cain, my elder brother, faced Zorx, the fearsome male demon whose power knew no bounds.
The clash between them was deafening, the battlefield drenched in chaos.
Yet Zorx, with his malevolent grin, showed no signs of tiring.
Without warning, Zorx unleashed his [Apocalyptic Flame Eruption] from above.
Black flames, shaped like a demonic shadow, descended upon us, consuming the very air around us.
It felt as if death itself had taken form.
Freya and Leopold moved in unison, their swords igniting with brilliant crimson light.
“[Flamemore Swordsmanship: Crimson Erupted]!” they shouted, pouring every ounce of their mana into their blades.
The two fiery strikes met Zorx’s flames, creating a violent clash of fire and shadows.
But even their combined strength wasn’t enough.
The black flames surged forward, forcing Freya and Leopold back.
The impact sent them tumbling to the ground, the inferno hurtling ever closer to us.
I couldn’t hesitate.
My hands gripped my sword, [Ignis], a weapon I had never fully mastered.
This blade was a gift from the Patriarch of the Flamemore family himself-a last token for the third son who had failed to inherit the family’s famed swordsmanship.
Unlike Cain and Leopold, whose talent with Flamemore techniques was legendary, I was… different.
Yet I knew this gift wasn’t given lightly.
Somewhere within [Ignis] slumbered a fire of unimaginable strength.
And now, I had no choice but to wake it.
I closed my eyes and focused, pouring all my mana into the sword.
Every ounce of power, every last drop of energy, flowed through me and into [Ignis].
This is it.
If I didn’t act now, Freya, Leopold, Erine, everyone-would die.
Even Cain would fall.
The flames roared louder.
Zorx’s attack was only meters away, and in that final moment, I felt it-the sword’s true power surging through my veins.
My mind was flooded with knowledge of a spell I had never learned.
The name appeared as if carved into my very soul.

“[Phoenix’s Protection]!” I roared.
A massive phoenix of pure flame burst forth from [Ignis], its wings unfurling in a protective barrier.
The fiery creature soared upward, colliding with Zorx’s black inferno.
The explosion of power shook the earth, but the phoenix held firm, shielding all of us from the consuming darkness.
I gasped for breath.
Relief washed over me.
We were safe.
I had done it.
But then, pain struck.
Searing, unbearable pain.
Black flames licked across my back, burning through my armor and skin.
I screamed in agony.
“This… this can’t be…!” I gasped between ragged breaths.
“Zorx’s flames… reached me?” A cruel laugh echoed across the battlefield.
Zorx floated above us, his eyes glowing with twisted glee.
“Did you really think you could stop me, little Flamemore?
Your power is a flickering candle against my abyss.” His words sank in like poison.
I had saved my friends, but it hadn’t been enough.
Even after all I had given, I had still taken the brunt of Zorx’s hellfire.
The pain overwhelmed me.
My mind clouded as if lost in a storm, and my legs nearly gave out.
I was ready to collapse, but I forced myself to stay upright by using [Ignis] as a crutch.
The blade, though burning hot from the battle, was the only thing keeping me from falling to the ground.
Then, like a ray of salvation through the storm, Arsene appeared.
She arrived with a group of professors from the academy, flanked by knights from the Braveheart Kingdom.
Their reinforcements swiftly moved in, cutting down the remaining dungeon break monsters with precision and fury.
With the combined might of Arsene and the Braveheart forces, the battlefield began to shift in our favor.
Before long, the last of the monsters were defeated.
Only Zorx remained.
I didn’t expect Arsene to approach me, but she rushed to my side without hesitation.
Her face was serious yet filled with concern.
She knelt beside me and cast a powerful spell, “[High Divine Magic: Purifying Darkness].” The black flames on my back writhed and resisted, but her divine magic began to dissolve them, piece by piece.
A soothing warmth replaced the unbearable burning.
The flames vanished entirely.
Erine quickly cast [Heal] on me and handed me a health potion.
The healing magic didn’t fully restore me, but it gave me enough strength to stand again.
I gripped [Ignis], determined to fight once more.
“I can still help!” I said, looking toward Cain.
But my older brother turned and shouted, “Stay back, Kael!” His tone was harsh, but I knew it was out of concern.
Yet, I couldn’t listen.
Not when everyone else was fighting for their lives.
Freya, Leopold, and Erine’s team all rushed to aid Cain.
Reluctantly, he accepted their help.
Together, we launched a flurry of combination attacks at Zorx.
Cain’s finishing blow came swiftly.
He unleashed his signature move, “[Flamemore Swordsmanship: Seventh Infernal Thousand Cuts].” It was a storm of blinding, rapid slashes.
Each strike was so fast it seemed like a hurricane of fire engulfed Zorx.
The once-mighty demon was left in tatters, his body broken and smoldering.
But Zorx refused to die.
His eyes burned with unyielding malice.
In his last act of desperation, he activated his ultimate form-“[Ultimate Dark Magic: Abyssal Black Flamember Form].” His flames darkened to the color of pitch, his body twisted into a monstrous version of himself.
The sheer heat from his power melted the ground beneath him.
His very soul was now a living inferno.
The user’s body is fused with the Abyssal Black Flames, making them immune to physical attacks except for supreme-level Aura and divine magic.
Other weapons or magic will be consumed by the cursed flames upon contact.
With terrifying speed, Zorx incinerated Erine’s entire team in a single blast of black fire.
They were gone before they could even scream.
Erine was the only one who survived, shielded by the remnants of her team’s magic.
But she collapsed to her knees, broken.
I tried to form a defensive barrier, but Zorx’s new power pierced through it like it was paper.
Every move I made felt futile.
“[Phoenix Impact]!” I unleashed the strongest attack I could muster-a massive fire strike channeled from the depths of [Ignis].
But Zorx met my attack with his own “[Abyssal Flame Impact],” and the clash ended in disaster.
My flames were consumed, and I was engulfed in his black inferno.
I burned.
Every inch of my body was in agony, but I refused to fall.
Zorx towered over me, preparing to land his final blow.
Is this the end?
Am I going to die here?
I thought of Cain.
I thought of Naoki.
All I ever wanted was to be strong like them.
Strong enough to protect the people I cared about.
As I accepted my fate, a sudden movement caught my eye.
Freya.
She stood between me and Zorx, determined and unyielding.
“Freya!
No!” Cain and Leopold’s voices echoed across the battlefield, but Freya didn’t flinch.
She stood her ground as Zorx’s claws descended upon her.
Then, the pendant around Freya’s neck-the one she had worn since our academy days-began to glow with a fierce, blinding intensity.
“[The Fire Flower Pendant],” an ancient artifact said to awaken only in moments of life-threatening danger, finally activated.
Flames erupted from the pendant’s core, wild and untamed.
“[Fire Blast]!” A massive inferno surged forth.
The sheer force of the flames blasted Zorx backward, catching him off guard.
The impact was devastating-so intense that even his [Abyssal Black Flamember Form] faltered.
The once-unstoppable black flames flickered as cracks formed along his burning aura.
He stumbled for the first time.
Zorx roared in fury.
His twisted form flared again, but this time it didn’t seem as invincible.
The damage Freya had inflicted was real.
Cain, never one to miss an opportunity, charged at Zorx without hesitation.
His fiery blade danced in the air, his every movement fueled by the desperation and rage of a brother determined to protect what remained of his family.
“Kael, stay with Freya!” Cain barked over his shoulder.
He swung his sword with incredible speed, forcing Zorx further back.
Every strike was accompanied by the roar of fire, each blow pushing the demon closer to the edge of defeat.
But I could barely hear Cain’s words.
My body felt as if it were crumbling.
Every nerve screamed in agony from the burns I had endured.
My strength was nearly gone, and even standing was beyond me now.
I sank to my knees, gasping for breath, feeling the weight of failure pressing down on me.
Yet deep inside, I knew it wasn’t over.
I had one last thing to do.
I turned toward Freya, who knelt by my side, her face pale but determined.
Her eyes, filled with a mix of worry and resolve, locked onto mine.
“Freya…” I whispered, my voice weak and trembling.
“Take this…” With every ounce of strength I had left, I held out my sword-[Ignis].
The blade trembled in my hands, its once-vibrant flames now dim.
“This sword… I couldn’t awaken its true power.
But you can.
I know you can.” Her eyes widened.
For a moment, hesitation flickered across her face.
Freya had always fought with incredible skill, but [Ignis] was no ordinary weapon.
It was unpredictable.
Volatile.
Even I had barely been able to control its full might.
But there was no time for doubt.
She reached out and took the sword from my trembling hands.
The moment her fingers wrapped around the hilt, a sudden, radiant burst of fire erupted from the blade.
The dim flames reignited, burning hotter and brighter than ever before.
Sparks danced in the air around her, and the energy pouring out of [Ignis] seemed limitless.
Freya stared at the sword in awe.
“Kael… this power…” I felt a strange sense of peace, even as the world around me trembled under the weight of battle.
“It’s yours now.
Finish the fight, Freya.” Freya’s grip tightened around [Ignis], her gaze hardening with determination.
She stood tall, her entire body enveloped in flames that radiated pure power.
The ground beneath her cracked, unable to withstand the pressure of the energy she now wielded.
