- Chapter 140 - Chapter 140 Resisting the God () Interference
Chapter 140: Resisting the God (???) Interference Chapter 140: Resisting the God (???) Interference I arrived on Earth.
As usual, my teleportation landed me in the middle of the city.
Tokyo’s streets were bright with neon lights, the sidewalks crowded with people going about their lives.
But I had no time to admire the scenery-I had to find Nana.
Without hesitation, I rushed straight to our apartment.
My mind raced with possibilities.
Was she home?
Was she safe?
I could only hope.
But when I arrived- Only Mom and Naki were there.
“Where’s Nana?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Mom looked up from her book.
“She hasn’t come back yet.
Probably still at work.” I checked the clock-9 PM.
Too late.
A heavy feeling settled in my gut.
Something was wrong.
Envi’s voice rang in my mind.
“We need to find her.
If her coworkers are harassing her again, she could be in danger.” I nodded.
No more waiting.
I turned and bolted out the door.
I ran toward Nana’s office as fast as I could.
The streets blurred past me, my heartbeat pounding in my ears.
When I reached her workplace, I barely took a second to catch my breath before pushing my way inside.
The office was dim, most of the lights already turned off.
The few remaining employees barely spared me a glance before returning to their work.
But Nana- She wasn’t here.
I activated [Eclipse Eyes], my vision piercing through walls, scanning every floor, every room.
Nothing.

“Damn it!
Where are you, Nana?” I muttered under my breath.
My pulse quickened.
My gut told me something was terribly wrong.
I had to act fast.
I opened the system menu and immediately attempted to use [Give Protection] on her.
But then- — [ERROR!!] Due to interference from the God (???), this system feature is temporarily unavailable!
— I froze.
What?!
My blood ran cold.
This was the first time I had ever seen this message.
The system-the one thing that had always been reliable-was being blocked.
Even Envi was speechless.
“This is beyond anything we expected…
That god can even affect the system itself?” My fists clenched.
I couldn’t afford to waste any more time.
I scaled the nearest skyscraper, leaping from ledge to ledge until I reached the top.
From here, I had a clear view of the entire city.
I activated [Eclipse Eyes] again.
Tokyo was massive.
Searching for one person in this sea of people was like finding a single grain of sand in a desert.
I had to focus.
I scanned every street, every alley- Then- I found her.
Nana was at a crosswalk.
She was heading home, her shoulders slumped, her posture lifeless.
Her expression was empty, as if she had given up.
My heart pounded.
Something was wrong.
I leaped off the building, the wind roaring past my ears as I sprinted toward her location.
I had to reach her.
I had to- Then, I heard it.
A truck engine, roaring.
I froze.
Nana was still at the crosswalk, staring at the ground.
She hadn’t noticed.
The truck was barreling toward her at full speed.
It wasn’t slowing down.
My instincts screamed.
“NANA!
WATCH OUT!!” She looked up- But it was too late.
The truck was already in front of her.
BAM!
I activated [Kasoseki 3X], instantly tripling my speed.
Then-[Shadow Steps]-teleporting directly to her side.
At the very last second- I grabbed her shoulders and yanked her back.
We tumbled onto the pavement, just as the truck slammed into a streetlight behind us, bending it in half.
The sound of metal crunching filled the air.
Screams erupted from the crowd.
People were panicking, rushing to check on the accident.
Police and ambulance sirens blared in the distance.
I turned toward the truck driver.
He was dead.
But when I activated [Eclipse Eyes]- I froze.
There were traces of Dark Magic on his body.
That bastard god.
He had possessed the driver.
He had tried to assassinate Nana.
My hands trembled with rage.
A soft voice pulled me from my fury.
“Uncle Sunglasses…
ahh u don’t wearing Sunglasses this time…Why are you here?
Did I almost get hit by that truck?
Did you save me?” When Nana said that, I immediately held my face, I forgot to wear the sunglasses that I usually wear.
Nana shock, her eyes were wide, tears forming.
She bit her lip, trembling.
“Thank you, Uncle…
for saving me.” I exhaled.
“You weren’t… thinking of doing something stupid, were you?” She shook her head violently.
“No!
I-I mean, I did think about it for a second, but I pushed it away!
But then…
I don’t remember walking.
Everything just…
blurred.” A mental attack.
The God (???) must have manipulated her mind.
I placed a hand on her head.
“It’s okay now.
You’re safe.
The truck lost control-it wasn’t your fault.
Let’s go home.” She nodded, but- “Before that… can we talk?
At the park?” At a small park near the apartment, we sat on a bench under the dim glow of the streetlights.
Nana finally opened up.
Her workplace had turned into hell.
Her so-called “colleagues” had started spreading lies, ostracizing her, and bullying her out of jealousy.
Even Senior Kai, was being targeted.
The people who once acted kind had turned cruel.
The management?
They did nothing.
I clenched my fists.
This had to be the God (???)’s doing.
I told her to quit.
She refused.
“I won’t run away,” she whispered.
Her voice was soft, but her eyes were determined.
“I’ve run away before… and I regretted it.
This time, I’ll fight.” I sighed, placing a hand on her head.
“If that’s your choice… Then I’ll support you.
But if things get worse-promise me you’ll call me immediately.
Here, take this, always carry this with you.” I gave her the [Seeker Talisman], a talisman that I had bought at Solara Magic Academy.
I had bought it just in case I needed it.
I had filled the talisman with my mana, so I could know where it was as long as Nana carried it.
“What’s this, uncle?” Nana asked in confusion.
“It’s a good luck talisman.
It will protect you when you’re in danger, and I’ll come to you at that time.” I said that with a bit of a cool attitude.
“Hahaha, it’s like in a fictional movie…
but since Uncle Sunglasses gave it to me, I promise!
I’ll keep it well and always carry it with me.” Nana said that with a happy expression.
“By the way, uncle looks quite similar to my little brother.
Naoki…
my little brother…
I can’t see him anymore.
I really miss him.
Seeing uncle is enough to cure my longing.
I think we really are blood related hehe.” Nana said that with teary eyes.
I immediately hugged her.
“Is that so..
I’m sorry for your little brother..
I, no, uncle will visit you guys often later.
So don’t be sad okay?” I said that with a broken heart.
I didn’t want to tell my true identity as Naoki.
Sorry big sister, I can’t tell you, if I do I won’t be able to come to earth anymore.
“Thank you uncle sunglasses..
I’ll look forward to your return, or maybe you can meet my mother and Naki too.
They must be happy!” Nana said that happily.
I smiled a little and said, “Yes, I promise.” I could only say that, even though my heart was crying wanting to be back with them.
After that, as we sat there under the night sky, the weight of what had just happened settled in.
I escorted Nana to the front of the apartment.
….
“What a touching reunion, even though she doesn’t know that you’re Naoki.” Envi said, sounding as if he sympathized with me.
“It’s unusual for you to act like this.
Does this perverted system want something?” I asked him while laughing.
“Damn you, Nao!
I said that because I was trying to comfort you!
Ugh, damn it, I regret worrying about you, you idiot!” Envi grumbled and cursed at me, but I just laughed.
Deep down, I was actually glad that he cared.
Right now, there was nothing more I could do for Nana, but at least I had given her the [Seeker Talisman].
With that item, I could track her location and know if she was in danger or not.
I couldn’t rely solely on system notifications-there was a chance that Nana could be in danger without it being detected.
If she was ever in trouble again, I would teleport to Earth immediately to save her.
No matter what was happening in Aetheria, my family was my top priority.
I had to protect Nana.
Before my [Visit Earth] time ran out, I decided to find Senior Kai and ask him what was happening to him and Nana.
I walked to his apartment.
Back when I was still alive as Naoki, I used to visit this place often.
Senior Kai always invited me over to hang out.
We used to play PlayStation or other games together.
He was a fun and kind person.
I knocked on the door, and he opened it.
His face looked terrible-like someone who hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in a long time.
“You’re… Nana’s uncle, right?
Ahh, please come in first…” Kai invited me inside.
Once we were seated, I told him that I had met Nana and that she was struggling.
Senior Kai confirmed it and explained that both he and Nana were being bullied at work.
The situation was causing them a lot of stress.
That solidified my suspicions-they were both being targeted.
I asked Senior Kai to stay close to Nana, even escort her home if possible.
That would make it easier for me to track both of them in case anything happened.
Senior Kai agreed.
Suddenly i asked him, “Senior Kai… do you love Nana?” The moment those words left my mouth, his face turned bright red, and he became flustered.
His stammered response confirmed my guess.
I smirked slightly, realizing the truth.
