- Reincarnated as a failed hero?! Watch me Defy Fate!
- Chapter 148 - Chapter 148 A Path Forged in Light
Chapter 148: A Path Forged in Light Chapter 148: A Path Forged in Light Three days had passed since graduation.
Now, I was fully focused on preparing for the Hero’s Trial.
Every day, I trained relentlessly in the academy’s training grounds, sharpening my skills and pushing my limits.
With the third-year students having graduated, the academy had now entered its semester break.
The first and second-year students were given a one-month holiday, meaning the campus was quieter than usual.
Milly had already returned to the Blackmore estate, and she had invited Aisha to come along.
However, Aisha declined, saying she needed to visit her own family instead.
Milly looked visibly disappointed, but there was nothing she could do.
Eventually, they parted ways.
I was a little surprised that Aisha was going home.
She had previously mentioned that she rarely visited her family.
It made me curious-what kind of family did she have?
I wanted to ask her about it the next time we met.
Would I one day have the chance to visit the land of the elves?
Hearing my thoughts, Envi immediately jumped in, excitedly suggesting that we should go there to meet and flirt with the beautiful elf women.
Disgusted by his impure fantasies, I scolded him.
Envi groaned, complaining that he was bored out of his mind while waiting for the Hero’s Trial to begin.
Honestly, I had to agree.
The academy felt strangely empty.
Even the professors had been granted leave to rest and recover after their exhausting battles against the Demon Warlords and the Dungeon Stampede.
Meanwhile, Headmistress Arsene was using this time to strengthen the academy’s defenses by installing new anti-demon barrier spells, making it even more difficult for enemies to attack.
I felt relieved knowing that future students would be safer.
However, I pushed those thoughts aside and focused solely on my training.
One day, when I checked my status, I was surprised to find that several of my skills had leveled up-including Swordsmanship, Resonance, Dark Magic, and Eclipse Eyes.
This must have been the result of all the experience I had gained from fighting monsters and demons.

Goddess Points: 155 — Envi confidently told me that passing the Hero’s Trial should be easy with my current stats-especially with his assistance.
However, I reminded him that we shouldn’t be overconfident.
No one knew exactly what kind of trial awaited us.
It was entirely possible that we could face something beyond our expectations and power.
We agreed to never underestimate the Hero’s Trial.
There was always a chance that something far greater than us could stand in our way.
…
Several days passed.
And finally-the day of my Hero’s Trial had arrived.
I made my way to the Royal Hall, where I was to meet King Aslan before heading to the trial site.
Upon arriving at the palace, I saw King Aslan seated on his throne, with Amelia beside him.
Amelia beamed at me, waving happily.
She seemed more relaxed than before-perhaps her royal duties had lessened for the time being.
King Aslan let out a hearty laugh as I stood before him.
“Naoki, relax!
There’s no need for formality here.
After all, you’re standing in front of your future father-in-law!
HAHAHA!” Hearing that, Amelia’s face turned bright red in embarrassment.
I felt a little annoyed, but there was nothing I could do except accept it.
“Thank you, Your Majesty.
May I ask why you summoned me here?
Is there anything I can assist you with?” I asked politely.
King Aslan’s expression turned serious.
“Ah, yes…
Today is the day of your Hero’s Trial.
I wanted to tell you something-something that every hero who has ever taken this trial remembers.” He took a deep breath and said with absolute conviction: “Stay on the right path.” “I see… perhaps this is a rule I must never break.
Very well, I understand.
Thank you, Your Majesty.” King Aslan’s words lingered in my mind.
I had a feeling they were more than just advice-they were a warning.
I would remember them well.
“Ah, and one more thing, Naoki,” King Aslan continued.
“Take Amelia with you to the Hero’s Trial.
She will be your companion.
Well, it’s only natural for a future wife to accompany her future husband, right?
HAHAHA!” I froze in shock.
Amelia was coming with me?
I turned to her, only to find a pleased smile on her face as she thanked the King.
I could only sigh and accept the situation.
…
Amelia and I left the palace, heading toward The Holy Temple, the sacred site where the Hero’s Trial would take place.
It was located at the center of the kingdom, serving as both a place of worship and a sanctuary for healing and purification.
As we walked, I turned to Amelia.
“Hey, why do you want to come with me?
Won’t your royal duties be affected?” I asked, slightly worried.
She giggled.
“It’s fine.
I finished all my work just so I could accompany you.
Hehe.” Then, she smirked mischievously and clung tightly to my arm.
At that moment, I realized why she had been so busy lately.
I sighed, but I couldn’t be upset.
She had worked hard for this.
When we arrived at The Holy Temple, I was in awe.
It was a magnificent sanctuary ruled by the Saintess of Braveheart.
It served as a place to worship the gods and a hospital for healing severe wounds and purifying demonic curses.
Amelia explained that Headmistress Arsene and the Knight Guild Leader were already waiting inside.
Normally, the Saintess would also be present during a Hero’s Trial, but currently, she was on the battlefield, using her powers to heal the kingdom’s knights.
Since the Saintess was absent, Amelia had volunteered to represent her-as she, too, possessed divine magic.
Hearing this, I finally understood why Amelia had insisted on coming with me.
“Thank you for going through all this trouble,” I said sincerely.
Amelia blushed slightly and held onto me tighter as we entered The Holy Temple.
Inside, the priestesses greeted us, leading us deeper into the temple’s grand hall.
There, standing in the center, were Headmistress Arsene and a formidable-looking knight.
“Welcome, Naoki.
And of course, my dear sister, Amelia.” Arsene greeted us warmly before turning to me.
“Let me introduce you to Sir Godvrey von Braveheart, the leader of the Knight Guild.” Sir Godvrey von Braveheart-I had heard of him from Amelia before.
He was one of the strongest warriors in the kingdom, nearly on par with the Heroes of legend.
He was King Aslan’s younger brother, making him Amelia and Arsene’s uncle.
More importantly, he was the King’s personal bodyguard and his most trusted right hand.
The moment I saw him, I could feel his overwhelming aura.
He appeared to be a man in his forties, with the signature orange hair of the Braveheart family, cropped short.
He wore a heavy knight’s armor, wielding a mighty sword and shield that radiated unshakable strength.
Then, he grinned.
“So, we finally meet, Naoki von Blackmore.
I’ve heard a lot about you.” And then- “Well, well!
You truly are a perfect match for Amelia!
HAHAHA!” …Of course.
He had the same personality as King Aslan.
I sighed inwardly but maintained my composure.
“It’s an honor to meet you, Sir Godvrey.
I look forward to your guidance in the Hero’s Trial,” I said politely.
Godvrey laughed heartily.
“Hmm!
You have good manners.
I like that!
HAHAHA!
Well then, follow us.
We’ll take you to the true trial grounds.” I blinked.
This wasn’t the trial site?
Without another word, Godvrey, Arsene, and Amelia led me toward the front of the temple, where a massive statue of the gods stood.
Then, they activated their divine magic, causing the statue to shift-revealing a hidden underground passage beneath it.
A dark, stone stairway led deep below.
Taking a deep breath, I followed them into the underground.
As we descended, the air grew colder and the atmosphere heavier.
I had no idea what awaited me at the end of this path.
….
After what felt like an eternity, we finally arrived at a massive underground chamber.
At the far end stood a colossal door, sealed shut.
Arsene, Godvrey, and Amelia combined their divine magic, casting an intricate spell to unlock the door.
As the light of their magic faded- The doors swung open, revealing a breathtaking sight.
It was a vast, pure-white space-so radiant that it almost seemed unreal.
Massive statues of gods and goddesses lined the room, towering over us like divine overseers.
The air felt… strange.
It wasn’t just a room.
It was as if we had stepped into another dimension.
The sheer purity of this place made it feel as though our very souls were being drawn into it.
Sir Godvrey turned to me, grinning.
