Chapter 190: King Aslan’s Wrath
King Aslan’s POV:
I am Aslan von Braveheart—King of the Braveheart Kingdom. For sixty long years, I have ruled this land with unwavering might. Yet in all those decades, never have I faced a crisis so dire, so catastrophic, that it could annihilate not only my kingdom… but perhaps the very existence of mankind itself.
The wars of the past were but fleeting embers compared to the inferno we now face. Skirmishes with Gildoria, political tension with Solara, and even the demonic remnants scattered across Mount Archanis—those were manageable. The great beast Canis once broke loose at the northern border, laying waste to the lands of House Blackmore, even killing their patriarch. But even that monstrous force eventually sealed itself once more.
For sixty years, I believed we had seen the worst. I believed peace—though fragile—was within our grasp. I was wrong.
The seal of Mount Archanis is weakening, and the infernal plague of the Demon Realm has begun to seep back into our world. We didn’t realize it at first. People simply vanished. Then the Demon Warlords rose again—bringing chaos not only to Braveheart, but even to the mighty Solara.
I have never faced a Demon Warlord, let alone one of the Overlords—those living disasters chronicled only in the darkest annals of history. But now they walk among us once more, tearing through the barriers between the demon and human realms. They are here.
Most of them have been defeated. Only the First-Ranked Demon Warlord remains. I wonder—when will he strike? Will it be at the western front, where Braveheart clashes with Gildoria? Or will he strike here, at the very heart of my kingdom?
And then it dawned on me: Naoki von Blackmore.
He’s more than just a promising warrior—he’s the descendant of Hiro von Blackmore, the legendary hero who once sealed the Demon King himself. Naoki has already slain two Demon Warlords. He is their target. They fear him.
Naoki is currently undergoing the Hero’s Trial within the sacred Hall of Ascension. If he is interrupted now… if he is struck down before completing it… all hope may be lost.
I knew then what I must do.
Saintess—confirmed my fears. In a frantic telepathic vision sent from the front lines, she foresaw an infernal onslaught. She saw half the capital in ruins. She offered to return, to abandon the front and protect us—but I could not allow it. The soldiers out there need her divine healing more than ever.
And so I chose to place my trust in those who remain.
Orion, the Barrier Master, remains within the capital to command the Sixth Division Knights. He has already restored the kingdom’s defensive wards, which the Demon Warlords had once pierced.
Godfrey—my brother and commander of the royal guard—will stand ready. My children, Arsene and Amelia, have taken their positions beside Naoki to shield him through the Trial. I trust no one more than them.
This is not merely war. This is the stand of the Braveheart royal bloodline itself. We will not allow the devils of Gehenna to trample our legacy.
And then… the day came.
Naoki had entered the second month of his Trial. The situation at the front was worsening. And then… the skies split open.
Orion alerted me immediately—the outer barriers were untouched. That could mean only one thing: the demons had used spatial magic. A spell of that level… could only be wielded by an Overlord.
And sure enough, the air trembled with power.
I evacuated the city. Over five thousand royal troops were deployed to escort civilians to the inner sanctums—the castle, noble estates, and hidden vaults. The skies above Braveheart cracked open, revealing a portal of pure darkness.
From it descended a woman—an Overlord-class demon with violet hair and a terrifying magical aura. Alongside her, another monster emerged… if one could even call him that.
He was a towering demon chimera—legs of a minotaur, arms of a troll king, the body of a lizardman, dragon wings, and a tail like a shadow wolf. A walking nightmare. And behind him… came more.
Three elite chimeras. One in the center of the capital—a colossal serpent with centipede limbs and the breath of both poison and flame. Another in the north—a five-headed wolf with draconic wings, its eyes glowing with thunderous fury. And in the south, a minotaur-bodied centaur, demolishing buildings as if they were made of paper.
I acted without hesitation.
“ORION, TO THE SOUTH! Take your troops and intercept the centaur chimera. I will handle the others myself!”
Clad in my battle armor, I drew my blade—The Divine Sword Durandal, heirloom of the Braveheart lineage. Its holy light surged through me.
I marched into war.
When I reached the heart of the capital, the serpent-chimera was already wreaking havoc. It torched homes, slaughtered guards, and spewed venom that corroded the very stones of our streets.
I could feel my blood boil.

“HOW DARE YOU DEFILE MY KINGDOM?!”
With a roar, I unleashed my Supreme Force Aura, shattering the earth beneath me as I lunged forward. My blade, infused with divine might, cleaved through the creature in a single blow—ripping it into two.
But it didn’t die.
To my horror, its pieces writhed… and then regenerated. It stood tall once more, hissing with rage.
Then, from above, came a slow clap.
The Overlord who summoned these beasts hovered in the sky, watching like a god surveying an ant.
“So you’re the king?” he sneered. “Pathetic old fool. You can’t even kill one of my pets.”
And then he opened it—the Gate of Gehenna.
I had only heard of it in legends: a massive rift that absorbs mana from this realm to feed the prison of the Demon King. A doorway to destruction. I could feel it drawing energy from every corner of the city.
I would not let this happen.
But first—I must destroy this unholy beast before me. Its regeneration… it had to be the work of Dark Magic.
“Very well,” I growled, raising Durandal once more.
“Let me show you what it means to defy the King of Braveheart.”
This is our last stand.
…
I grinned. The fire of battle surged in my veins. I channeled all of my Divine Magic into my sword—Durandal, the sacred heirloom of the Braveheart bloodline. A golden radiance burst from it, so bright that even my own shadow vanished within its light.
The Chimera attacked again—releasing a poisonous fog that obscured everything. It vanished from sight, but I knew. I could feel it.
It was sneaking in—trying to strike from close range, unleashing a blast of fire directly at me.
“You were doomed the moment you dared to lay a hand on my kingdom…!”
[Braveheart Swordsmanship: First Form—Divine Slash!]
I unleashed a single slash infused with my Divine Magic. A golden arc of light cut through the flames, erasing them entirely. The same slash carved cleanly through the Chimera’s entire body.
Its form began to unravel, disintegrating under the holy flames that continued to burn even after the slash had landed. It could no longer regenerate. That abomination… was gone.
But the demon in the sky clapped mockingly and sneered,”Impressive, King of Braveheart. But I know what you’re protecting. The cathedral, right? So tell me—what will you choose? That sacred hall, or the lives of your beloved people?! HAAHAHAHA!!”
He summoned two more Chimeras—each as strong as the one I had just slain.
“YOU COWARDLY BASTARD!” I roared as I charged at them, determined to cut them down before they could reach the castle—where my people had taken refuge.
The two monsters surged toward the castle, their massive forms leaving destruction in their wake. He knew exactly where to strike.
I slammed my sword into the earth, unleashing a wall of Divine Magic—a protective barrier that shimmered like a dome of light. It held back their assault.
But suddenly—the demon was gone from the sky.
No… not gone.
He was above the cathedral.
He had grown one of his arms to an enormous size—so massive it eclipsed the sun, casting a shadow of death over the sacred structure.
“I knew you’d defend the people, oh noble king… and now you’ll pay the price!”
He hurled his giant fist down upon the cathedral with devastating force.
“NO!! AMELIA! ARSENE! GODFREY! NAOKI!!” I screamed out their names, horror and fury twisting in my chest. His strike had enough power to demolish the cathedral and everything beneath it—including the Hall of Ascension where Naoki was undergoing the hero’s trial.
Even as I cut down the two Chimeras in my way, it was already too late. His massive punch struck, crushing the cathedral in a quake that shook the city. Protective spells cast by the nuns flared to life—but they were no match for the overwhelming force.
The structure collapsed.
Screams echoed.
The sacred hall crumbled.
“NOOOOO!!” I roared with a voice that split the sky.
But then—the blow stopped.
Someone had caught it.
A flash of golden energy, shaped like a lion’s roaring head, pushed back against the titanic fist.
It was my brother—Godfrey.
“I won’t let you destroy the Hall of Ascension!!” he shouted, holding the monstrous strike at bay with [Braveheart Swordsmanship: Lion’s Den], a technique powered by Divine Magic and sheer will.
The demon reeled in shock as his attack was halted.
I cut down the last of the Chimeras and rushed to stand beside Godfrey. The two of us now faced the true threat—the Demon Warlord.
Hovering above, his body cloaked in dark, writhing magic, the demon grinned.
“Marvelous… Just marvelous. You two will make excellent ingredients for my next Chimeras. I am Xir the Singular Calamity. Rank 1 Demon Warlord. Today, Braveheart shall fall!”
His aura exploded—a black vortex of despair and madness.
But neither I nor Godfrey flinched.
I raised Durandal, my Divine Magic surging again. “You dare utter such blasphemy in my kingdom?! No, demon. The one who dies today—is YOU!”
And with that, we charged. Two lions of Braveheart, burning with righteous fury
