- Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 A Silent Farewell
Chapter 27: A Silent Farewell Chapter 27: A Silent Farewell I gathered my skill , that elevated to Level 2.
A tremendous force flowed through my body, and I steeled my resolve to defeat Canis.
A brilliant light erupted from me, illuminating the dark space.
My HP stopped decreasing, even though I was severely injured.
Elan, Freya, and Vivin looked stunned by my condition.
It was as if they couldn’t believe I was still standing after taking such a devastating blow from Canis.
“Nao… what’s that?
This is incredible!
With this skill, we can definitely beat that damn huge wolf!” Envi shouted, his voice urgent.
I glanced at the new skill that had appeared before me.
starts creating a skill!
Creating a skill to defeat Canis.
Combining Dark Magic and the Blackmore Katana Style.
!!Success!
Created skill !!
This skill creates an air slash that unleashes both dark magic and aura simultaneously, slicing through shadows and darkness of any foe.
The skill consumes the target and sends them into a dimension of darkness, leading to an endless void.
With my strong resolve and Envi’s analysis, we had successfully created a new skill.
“This…
with this, I can defeat Canis!!” I said to Envi.
I knew that brings to life the wielder’s hopes, desires, and imagination.
The stronger the user’s resolve, the more powerful the skill becomes.
I prepared myself to strike Canis.
I could see Freya, Elan, and Vivin, despite being on the verge of collapsing, still wanting to help.
“Good job, Freya, Elan, Vivin…
I’ll end this now.
Just watch,” I said to them with a smile.
Even though my face was covered in blood and I was badly wounded, I still managed to smile at them.
I wanted them to rest and not push themselves any further.
It was my turn to finish this fight.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
They nodded at me with expressions full of confidence, stepping back and leaving the rest to me.
I charged at Canis.
I activated the skill to boost my speed, trying to deceive Canis.
He unleashed a flurry of attacks, combining claws and fangs in a deadly barrage aimed at me.
I dodged and parried some of them with .
With my sword still cloaked in Dark Magic, I attacked Canis from every direction with .
I succeeded in pushing him back, leaving deep wounds all over his body.
Canis looked furious, releasing a massive aura of darkness.
It felt like the once-clear night sky had turned pitch black.
Canis leapt into the air, summoning a huge magical circle in the sky, ten in total.
Slowly, he descended, diving through the circles.
With each one he passed, the dark aura enveloping him grew stronger.
Now, Canis looked like a meteor, falling toward us, ready to crush everything in his path.
“Stop him now, Nao!
That’s Canis’ ultimate skill .
That attack is enough to destroy an entire kingdom!!” Envi analyzed urgently, urging me to use my new skill.
“Ugh!
Damn wolf!
Even at the end, he’s still so annoying!” I grumbled, frustrated by Canis’ plot armor and his ridiculous strength.
I looked at the remaining members of my team.
They were all visibly terrified, knowing Canis was about to unleash his devastating attack.
I took my fighting stance and raised my katana toward the sky.
Instantly, dark aura and shadows enveloped my sword, filling the air with an overwhelming power.
Without hesitation, I swung my blade toward Canis, unleashing .
The slash shot forward like a black railgun, cutting through the air toward Canis.
Our powers clashed.
Canis, pushed back, tried to resist my strike.
But I poured every ounce of my strength into this final attack.
“THIS IS FOR ROSAN!!
THIS IS FOR MY FAMILY!!!
DIE!!” I shouted, my voice ringing with fury as my slash grew in size, slowly pushing Canis back.
In the end, he couldn’t hold out any longer and was struck by my blow.
The slash was immense.
I saw Canis being sucked into it.
He tried to regenerate by turning into shadow, but it was pointless.
My skill, , devoured him whole.
Finally, Canis was completely absorbed by my strike, and his presence vanished from this world.

“Congratulations!
You have successfully learned [Dark Magic] and can now enter [Abyssal Wrath Mode] for a limited time.” ——— “I can’t believe I leveled up ten times.
Plus, I got a new trait, weapon, and skills.
This is completely unexpected…” I shouted, still in disbelief, turning to Envi for confirmation.
“Y-YOU DID IT, MY PARTNER!
Err, I mean… you did it, idiot!
Damn you…” Envi muttered, his words muffled by his usual tsundere act, though I could tell he was trying to hide his excitement.
“You’re such a silly tsundere, Envi,” I teased, a faint smile tugging at my lips despite the exhaustion weighing on me.
Suddenly, notification appeard.
Deactivating I felt a massive drain on my energy and magic.
My physical form reverted to normal-my hair shortened back to its usual length, the aura radiating from my body vanished, and my dark magic ceased entirely.
I felt like I was about to pass out.
But then, a thought struck me.
“Rosan…” I suddenly remembered her, and despite my fatigue, I ran toward the place where the rest of my team had gathered, my heart racing.
When I arrived, they greeted me with mixed expressions.
“Naoki-dono, I knew you could defeat him!” Freya exclaimed, relief evident in her voice.
“You beat him, Master Naoki!” Vivin said, her face filled with sorrow.
“But Rosan…
what about Rosan?!” I asked urgently, my voice trembling with worry.
Freya and Vivin fell silent, their faces turning pale.
They didn’t answer, their eyes lost in shock.
My heart sank, and I immediately walked over to Elan and Lyra.
Lyra was crying, her face streaked with tears.
She spoke through shaky breaths, her voice barely a whisper.
“I did everything I could, Naoki-sama…
My magic reached its limit.
I managed to close Rosan’s wounds, but she lost too much blood.
I’m sorry…” Lyra’s words were full of frustration and sorrow, as if she blamed herself for what had happened.
Elan, too, was crying.
He held someone in his lap, and as I looked closer, my breath caught in my throat-it was Rosan.
I sank to my knees beside Elan, reaching out to gently hold Rosan’s hand.
Her body was cold to the touch, and there was no sign of life in her.
Her breathing had stopped, and I felt the weight of the reality settle in.
With a shaky hand, I closed Rosan’s eyes, my heart aching.
Her face, though pale and still, carried a peaceful expression-one that seemed to speak of contentment, as though she had found satisfaction in her final moments, even in death.
Tears welled up in my eyes.
I couldn’t stop them.
All I could do was whisper, “I did it, Rosan…
Now, rest in peace.” …
…
After the intense battle, the surviving members of my team and I began the difficult task of gathering our fallen comrades.
We carried their bodies back to the Blackmore estate for a proper burial.
We were all battered and broken, our bodies barely able to stand, except for Lyra, who had pushed herself beyond her limits, using all her mana for High Support Magic, and had collapsed from exhaustion.
Slowly, we made our way back to the Blackmore Mansion, arriving as the first light of dawn began to break.
When we stepped into the mansion, everyone stared in shock at our wounded forms, and at the lifeless bodies we carried with us.
Patriarch, Milly, Lilia, and Mark-who was still using a cane-approached us, their eyes wide in disbelief.
They could see we had returned from our mission, but there was no joy in our eyes.
Only grief.
I requested that the remaining members of my team be given immediate medical care.
The mansion’s medical staff and maids quickly surrounded us, offering their assistance.
But then, a sudden gasp echoed from the maids, followed by a sob.
They had just seen the lifeless body of Rosan, one of their own-who had returned home to them in death.
I looked toward the Patriarch and saw the sorrow in his eyes as well.
The loss of half our party had deeply affected everyone.
“So, this is how it is…
You’ve all fought so hard.
Now, rest,” the Patriarch said, his voice heavy with emotion.
“Yes, Patriarch…
But please, allow me to stay and bury our fallen comrades,” I requested, my voice firm but quiet.
He nodded, giving his permission without hesitation.
“I take responsibility for them.
It is my duty to see them to their final resting place,” I stated, determined.
“And also…
Patriarch, I ask that Rosan be buried near my mother’s grave.
She was a trusted servant to her in life.
I believe my mother would want her company,” I added, my voice soft but resolute.
The Patriarch looked at me for a moment before nodding, understanding the depth of my request.
“Very well.
She has been of great service to this family.
This is my way of showing gratitude.” We began the somber task of burying all our fallen comrades, including Rosan.
Once the last grave was filled, I stood alone at Rosan’s grave, staring down at the earth that now separated us.
“Thank you, Rosan…
Goodbye,” I whispered, my voice breaking as I said my final farewell.
After the funeral, the surviving members of my team received the care they so desperately needed.
We were treated for several days, and as usual, my exhaustion caught up with me.
I lost consciousness once again, my body finally succumbing to the toll the battle had taken on me.
