- Chapter 51 - Chapter 51 Dating with Serena
Chapter 51: Dating with Serena Chapter 51: Dating with Serena Serena lay beside me, refusing to leave until I granted her request.
Lyra and Freya had tried pulling her away, but she clung stubbornly to me, saying it was the only way to warm me up after freezing me during the fight.
The infirmary was in chaos because of her antics.
I never imagined Serena could act so childish.
During our battle, she had been like an entirely different person.
“Serena, let me go already,” I pleaded.
“Nope,” she replied with a pout, her grip tightening.
I suddenly recalled our bet: if I won, she’d fulfill my request, but if I lost, we’d spend an entire day together in town.
Just then, a screen popped up in front of me.
—- [!!!
QUEST ALERT !!!] Take Serena on a full-day date in town.
Hug Serena tightly.
Reward: 30 Goddess Points Failure Penalty: You will lose all emotional responses to women.
(Impotence) —- “…!!!” My eyes widened, and I seethed with rage.
“ENVI!
You lousy system, are you threatening me with impotence?!” I screamed in my mind.
Envi burst out laughing, his tone dripping with amusement.
“C’mon, Naoki, just take her on the date!
She’s gorgeous, strong, and clearly into you.
Isn’t she totally your type?” “UGHH, YOU JERK!” I cursed Envi, but I had no choice.
The penalty was far too terrifying.
Besides, I’d made a promise to Serena, and I wasn’t going to back out.
“Fine, Serena,” I sighed.
“I’ll go on the date tomorrow.
So let go of me.” “Really?
Yay!
Don’t be late tomorrow, Naoki.
I’ll be waiting for you at the academy gate!” she chirped, finally releasing her hold and skipping out of the room with a cheerful grin.
I let out a deep sigh of relief.
If she’d stayed any longer, I might’ve fainted from a nosebleed.

Lyra and Freya, however, looked crushed.
Their dejected faces made me feel guilty, so I tried to reassure them.
“It’s just a casual outing, nothing more.” Before they could respond, the infirmary door burst open.
“Big brother Naoki, are you still alive?!
Oh, thank goodness, you’re okay!” Milly shouted as she rushed in.
“Okay?
How am I okay after being frozen solid to absolute zero?” I grumbled.
“Hahaha, I was hoping to see you completely frozen and preserved as an ice sculpture for the Blackmore mansion!” she teased with a wicked grin.
“Alright, enough jokes.
Why are you here, Milly?” I asked, suspicious.
“What?
Can’t a little sister check on her big brother after he loses to a girl?” she retorted with her usual tsundere attitude, though I knew she was genuinely worried.
“Thanks for visiting this pathetic excuse of a brother, then,” I said with a sheepish smile.
Milly noticed Lyra and Freya sulking in the corner.
“Why do Lyra-senpai and Freya-senpai look so…
defeated?” “Ah, well…” I stammered, unsure how to explain.
Lyra and Freya grabbed Milly’s hands and whispered something to her.
Milly’s eyes went wide.
“We can’t let this slide!” Milly declared, her voice brimming with determination.
She and the two girls huddled together, whispering plans while shooting me sinister glances.
Without another word, they stormed out of the infirmary.
I sighed, deciding not to stress over whatever mischief they were plotting.
Instead, I called Marius, and we headed back to the dorms for some much-needed rest.
The next morning, I woke up reluctantly, dreading the exhausting day ahead.
After showering, I threw on my usual clothes, but then I hesitated.
Serena had been looking forward to this.
It didn’t feel right to show up looking so plain.
I rummaged through my wardrobe and picked out something sharper, then combed my hair neatly.
Suddenly, Envi appeared, smirking.
“Looking sharp, but you might be overdoing it.
Girls don’t like guys who look too polished.
You’re starting to look like an office clerk.
Go for something more rugged!” “Huh?
I have no clue how to dress for a date.
Teach me, Envi-sensei!” I pleaded.
“Alright, listen up.
Mess up your hair a bit-makes you look carefree.
Undo your collar button to show off a hint of chest muscle.
Add a light cologne, trim your nails, and carry a rose in your mouth.
That’s peak style.” Despite my doubts, I followed his ridiculous advice.
After preparing, I bid farewell to Marius, who just stared at me speechlessly.
As I walked to the academy gate, I couldn’t shake the feeling of being followed.
Envi confirmed it.
I spun around and, sure enough, Lyra, Freya, and Milly were trailing me, poorly disguised.
They tried to act casual, but their laughter gave them away.
I decided to ignore them and pressed on.
When I arrived, Serena was already waiting.
She wore an adorable white one-piece dress with her hair tied up.
The morning sun illuminated her, making her look angelic.
I was stunned.
She truly resembled a goddess descending from heaven.
“S-Sorry for keeping you waiting, Serena,” I stammered.
“It’s fine, Naoki.
I just got here…pffttt what kind of look is that?
You don’t suit looking seductive like that.” Serena laughed at my silly appearance.
“It’s better this way..” Serena ruffled my hair and closed the buttons of my shirt, and threw away the rose that I was biting.
“Ok, Let’s go!” she said cheerfully, grabbing my hand and pulling me along.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Lyra, Freya, and Milly glaring daggers at me from afar.
Their ominous aura sent shivers down the spines of nearby passersby.
Serena led me to the city park, where couples strolled hand in hand.
She clung tightly to my arm.
“…!!” I froze, my face heating up.
“S-Serena, this is too close!” “Hehe, I don’t care.
Today, you’re mine, Naoki,” she said with a sly smile.
My brain short-circuited as I felt the warmth of her touch and the softness pressing against my arm.
I prayed to every deity to keep me conscious.
Meanwhile, Freya and Lyra looked ready to storm over, but Milly held them back with all her might.
After exploring the park, we grabbed snacks from street vendors and sat together on a bench.
Serena rested her head on my shoulder, her scent intoxicating.
“Hey Serena, why did you let me and my team pass the test yesterday, we lost badly against you.
You didn’t fight seriously either.” I’ve been saving this question.
“That’s..because you didn’t fight me seriously either, right Naoki?
You held back your strength.
I think if we fought seriously, maybe we would be tied and get badly hurt.
But I don’t want that.” Serena said that while looking at me seriously.
“I…I don’t want to hurt you either.” I said that with a blushing face.
Hearing that Serena smiled.
Then, she fed me a piece of toast, her fingers brushing against my lips.
“This is fun,” she murmured softly.
“I wish it could stay like this forever.” “It’ll be hard,” I replied.
“We’re both heroes.
Our futures will only get busier.” Hearing my words, Serena’s expression darkened, her mood shifting.
“But…
I don’t mind spending a day with you like this,” I said shyly, my voice trailing off.
“Hehe, alright then…” Serena smiled, her eyes softening as she listened.
After that, we continued walking, stopping by some jewelry vendors.
Serena whined about wanting me to buy her something, and I noticed she was drawn to a beautiful moonstone necklace.
“Do you like it?” I asked.
“Hmmm, not really,” she replied, her tone distant.
“I just think it’s really pretty.
But I can’t wear it… I’d probably end up destroying it during a battle or something.” Her face wore a sad expression.
She quickly grabbed my hand and led me forward, eager to move on to the next stop.
I paused for a moment, staring at the necklace…
By the time lunch came around, I suggested we eat at a restaurant, but she declined, preferring to grab something at a small street-side stall instead.
Her tastes were a little strange, but I agreed, and we ended up at a humble place selling chicken soup with whole grain bread.
Serena seemed to really enjoy the simple meal, crumbs of bread still sticking to her lips.
I couldn’t help but gently wipe them off with my hand.
Her face immediately turned bright red, and she hastened to finish her food.
Just then, I felt a cold, menacing presence from behind.
It was Lyra, Freya, and Milly-who had apparently come here to eat as well-but they sat at a distant table.
Lyra and Freya looked visibly upset.
I urged Serena to hurry so we could move on.
We paid for the food, and I quickly led her to the festival happening nearby.
Lyra and Freya looked like they were about to follow us, but Milly stopped them to pay for their meal first.
Now it was my turn to tug Serena along, and she happily followed with a sweet smile.
I had started getting used to her affectionate behavior, and I could resist the urge to faint now.
At the festival, I took Serena to play various games.
We tried the fireball shooting game, the invisible fish catching, and a magical puzzle game.
….
Time flew by, and I hadn’t even noticed how much fun I was having.
Maybe I was being swept up by Serena’s charm, but honestly, it felt good.
Serena was also having a blast, and I didn’t want to spoil her mood.
Before I knew it, the afternoon had slipped away, and the sun began to dip.
Serena suggested we head to the city walls to watch the sunset.
When we arrived, she asked me to climb up first.
After I made my way up the stairs and reached the top, I heard a small squeal.
“Hiikkh!!” It was faint, but I heard it.
Then Serena appeared behind me, smiling brightly and urging me to stand with her at the edge of the wall.
This wall surrounded the city, and on Sundays, it was opened to the public.
It was a popular spot for people to watch the sunrise and sunset.
We both stood at the edge, gazing at the sun as it began to set.
“Naoki…
thank you for today.
You wouldn’t have agreed to this before.
When I would whine at you, you’d always brush me off.
But now you’ve changed, you’ve become warmer and accepted my silly request,” Serena said, her voice serious.
“It’s not silly, Serena.
I enjoyed my day with you,” I replied, making Serena smile.
“Thank you, Naoki.
I think our date is coming to an end here,” Serena said, her voice tinged with sadness.
“Eh, why?
We still have the night.
I can still stay with you.” “No, Naoki.
I have to return to Winterfell Mansion tonight.
It seems my family has been tasked with guarding the borders.
The small skirmish with the demons has already begun, and the heroes need to be on standby.
I have to join the other heroes at the front,” Serena explained, her tone becoming serious.
“War!
Does that mean the Blackmore family will be involved too?” I asked, shocked.
“That’s right.
The Blackmore family will be represented by your father, Tetsu von Blackmore, since you’re not yet an official hero,” she replied.
“Ugh!
I need to graduate from the academy as soon as possible, become stronger, and officially become a hero.
That way, I can protect the Blackmore family…
and also…
protect you, Serena,” I said, stumbling over my words.
I didn’t even know why I said that.
“I’ll be waiting for you at the front, Naoki.
Become a hero, and we’ll meet again.
Promise me…” Serena said, her eyes glistening with tears.
I nodded, wiping away her tears gently.
“Here, take this…
I thought it would look perfect on you.
Even if you break it, I’ll buy you another one!” “This is the necklace from earlier!
You bought it for me…
thank you, Naoki.
I really love it.” Once again, tears welled up in her eyes, but this time they were tears of happiness.
I gently placed the necklace around her neck.
She then hugged me.
I hesitated at first, but soon enough, I returned her embrace, holding her tightly.
Just then, a notification popped up: —- [!!!
YOU’VE COMPLETED THE QUEST!!!] Take Serena on a full-day date in the city.
(Completed) Hug Serena tightly.
(Completed) You’ve earned 30 Goddess Points!
—- We remained in each other’s arms as the sun set.
I could sense Serena’s unease about the upcoming war.
She was probably scared.
I hoped that in this moment, I could give her a little bit of courage.
