- Reincarnated as a failed hero?! Watch me Defy Fate!
- Chapter 71 - Chapter 71 A Message From Goddess
Chapter 71: A Message From Goddess Chapter 71: A Message From Goddess Goddess of Benevolence’s POV: I am the Goddess of Benevolence, and I have been watching over Takahiro Nao’s journey in Aetheria.
I chose him to become a hero in that world under one condition-I would grant him power so that he could continue supporting his family back on Earth.
At first, I was surprised.
Not only was Nao kind-hearted and selfless, but he also prioritized his family’s well-being over his own.
When I offered him the chance to reincarnate as a failed hero in Aetheria, he accepted without hesitation.
The only thing that mattered to him was ensuring his family’s safety, even if it meant facing the Demon King himself.
His unwavering determination made me certain that I had chosen the right person.
He would become Aetheria’s savior.
After sending him to Aetheria, I continued to observe his progress through moments of joy and hardship.
I believed in his strength to overcome any challenge.
Even as he awakened in his new body-Naoki von Blackmore, the so-called failed hero-Nao wasted no time in forming connections.
He changed the negative perceptions surrounding Naoki’s past, befriended the servants, earned the knights’ respect, and mended ties with the Blackmore family.
At first, Nao’s only concern was his family on Earth.
But gradually, he began to forge meaningful bonds in Aetheria as well, including with the Blackmore family.
His willingness to risk his life to save Mark, Naoki’s half-brother with no blood relation to his own past self, was proof of that.
Though he had been reincarnated as Naoki, he was slowly being influenced by the emotions and relationships surrounding his new identity.
That was why he felt a deep attachment not only to the Blackmore family but also to the maids who served him.
I watched in shock as Nao faced Mark in battle-Mark, who had awakened the power of demons.
“So, the demons have finally begun to move…” I murmured.
I had anticipated that the demons would act sooner or later, but this timing was terrible!
Nao would struggle to fight Mark, not only because of his newfound strength but also because they shared a familial bond-one that Naoki’s body still remembered.
For a moment, doubt flickered in my heart.
But then, I saw the unyielding fire in his eyes, his determination unwavering.
Even in the face of despair, he still held onto hope.
And in that moment, he awakened one of the powers I had bestowed upon him-[Power of Incarnation].
A power that could turn hope into reality.
I smiled as I watched his rapid growth.
Through [Power of Incarnation], I guided him subtly, helping him defeat Mark without taking his life.
“That’s right, Nao… that is who you are,” I whispered in my heart, filled with pride.
Nao continued to push forward, never giving up-even when he faced near-certain death against Canis the One Who Conquers the Shadow.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
A Unique Monster from ancient times, Canis was one of the strongest creatures in existence.
I was astonished.
How had Nao encountered a Unique Monster so soon?
And of all monsters, why did it have to be Canis?
Nao fought with everything he had, but in the end, he was overpowered.
His loved ones perished before his eyes-especially Rosan, who sacrificed herself to protect him.
That moment shattered something inside him, and from his grief and fury, he awakened a new power-[Abyssal Wrath Mode].
I hadn’t expected him to unlock the power of Dark Magic this quickly.
It was a dangerous ability, one that carried great consequences.
Yet, I had always known that, sooner or later, the true power of Dark Magic would awaken within him-it had been lying dormant inside him from the very beginning.
Not only did he awaken it, but he also advanced his [Power of Incarnation] to a higher level.
His growth was beyond my expectations.
As he teetered on the edge of despair, I pushed myself to manifest my voice, whispering encouragement into his heart.
“This isn’t over yet.
Don’t give up, my hero…” Hearing my voice, Takahiro Nao once again grasped the light of hope.
He shone brilliantly, his radiance powerful enough to shatter Canis’s illusions.
He was breathtaking-a beacon of hope against the darkness.
Against all odds, Nao defeated Canis.
I could hardly believe it, but the truth stood before me-Nao had surpassed my expectations.
And since Canis was a Unique Monster deeply connected to Dark Magic, I knew that Nao would eventually learn to control the power left behind by his fallen foe.
Yet, despite his strength, he was still human.
His heart remained fragile.
He could not forget the ones he lost.
The sacrifice of Rosan, the deaths of the knights who fought by his side-it weighed heavily on him.
For over an hour, he stood in front of their graves, unable to move, drowning in regret.
Seeing him like that made my chest tighten.
I couldn’t bear to watch him suffer.
“My hero… Takahiro Nao, this isn’t your fault.
Lift your head, don’t grieve too much… I will always be by your side,” I whispered, trying to comfort him.
But no matter how much I called out to him, my voice did not reach him.
I had used too much of my power to aid him against Canis.
Now, I was powerless to do anything but watch as he stood there, trapped in his sorrow.
… Now, Nao has stepped into the next stage of his journey-the second main quest, a trial that will put his sister, Takahiro Nana, in mortal danger.
As the Goddess of Benevolence, I have no control over the contents of the main quest.
It is intertwined with Nao’s fate itself.
All I can do is deliver the quest to him, and only after he completes it will I gain the power to grant his wish.
Even I do not fully understand the nature of these main quests, but I have a strong suspicion about who might be behind them.
If my guess is correct… then Nao’s struggle is far from over.
During his time at Braveheart Knight Academy, Takahiro Nao quickly built strong relationships.
He made new friends, transformed his once-tainted reputation from a problem student to one who commanded respect.
And whether intentionally or not… he found himself entangled in romantic relationships with several girls at the academy.
Or rather, he was like a helpless ant surrounded by a swarm of sweet, adoring sugar cubes.
That made me feel… just a little… restless.
One of his most pivotal moments came when he faced Norx, one of the Demon Warlords.
Norx had infiltrated the academy with the intention of breaking the seal on the Demon King, using the students as hostages.
I never expected one of the Demon Warlords to appear before Nao this soon.
But even in the face of such a powerful foe, I had no doubt-Nao would find a way to win.
And he did.
He fought with everything he had, barely emerging victorious.
Once again, he proved himself worthy of being called a hero.
But what truly surprised me was his heart.
Even after all that, he found it within himself to forgive Instructor Morgan, a man who had aided the demons not out of malice, but out of desperation to save his kidnapped daughter, Nyssa.
Nao had shown me something I hadn’t considered before-that there is no absolute good or evil.
He chose a path that embraced the complexities of both.
Watching him, I couldn’t help but smile shyly.
“Oh, my hero, Takahiro Nao… you truly are a hero,” I whispered, even though he couldn’t hear me.
But my time is running out.
My strength is fading, and eventually, I will disappear.
Even so, I will see this through to the end.
I will guide Nao until he stands victorious against the Demon King.
I wish I could be there beside him when that time comes, but I cannot leave the realm of the gods.
Such is the law set forth by The Almighty One: “The gods shall not descend upon the world to interfere in its conflicts.
Let humans and demons shape their own fates, for this is their trial to overcome.
Any deity who violates this law shall face obliteration.” All I can do is watch.
I will use what little power I have left to help him grow stronger, to ensure that he can defeat the Demon King and fulfill his wish-to protect his family on Earth.
And now, my hero has crossed beyond Aetheria, returning to Earth to shield his beloved family from the forces that would harm them.
I watch him with a soft smile, knowing that no matter the challenge, he will never waver when it comes to protecting those he loves.
“You never change, my hero… and that is why I am so captivated by you.” I bring my hands together in silent prayer.
“I will always be watching over you, Takahiro Nao… always wishing for your success.” And then, a whisper escapes my lips, unheard by anyone but the heavens.
“I wish… I could meet you, just once…” … Nao’s POV: I was crossing the world of Aetheria towards Earth with the [Visit Earth] feature.
While on this dimensional journey, I suddenly received a notification from the Goddess of Benevolence: [The Goddess of Benevolence bestows her blessings upon you!] [The Goddess of Benevolence praises your courage!] [The Goddess of Benevolence prays for your safety!] [The Goddess of Benevolence prays for you to successfully protect the one you love] Seeing how much the Goddess of Benevolence cares for me makes me happy.
I am very grateful to her for helping me this much.
“I want to meet you soon, my goddess.” I said with a small smile, as I slowly teleported to Earth…. …
