- Chapter 83 - Chapter 83 Battle on the 10th Floor
Chapter 83: Battle on the 10th Floor Chapter 83: Battle on the 10th Floor We faced the shadow wolves, but something was off.
They looked different-stronger and more menacing than before.
I quickly checked their status: Dungeon Shadow Wolf (Lvl.
30) “Be on your guard!” I warned my team.
These wolves were far stronger and faster than the ones we’d fought in the past.
At the front lines, Julius, Marius, Vivin, and I worked together to break through the pack of monsters.
Marius and Vivin used [War Cry], boosting our overall damage and drawing the wolves’ attention to themselves.
Meanwhile, Julius, Mark, and I struck them down one by one.
Nyssa held the middle line, attacking from mid-range and intercepting any monsters that managed to slip past.
At the rear, Mia tirelessly cast support spells.
“[Support Magic: Defense UP]!” and “[Support Magic: Booster]!” echoed behind us, bolstering our defenses and strength.
I was impressed-Mia’s magic had grown significantly, though she still wasn’t on Lyra’s level yet.
But there was more to Mia than just support magic.
She alternated between bolstering us and launching lightning-based attacks like [Thunder Magic: Lightning Javelin], striking down enemies with precision.
This party is so balanced, I thought.
We handled the shadow wolves and other dungeon monsters, such as imps, goblins, and trolls, with remarkable efficiency.
We pushed further, clearing floor after floor.
By the time we reached the fifth floor, the monsters were swarming in greater numbers.
It was time to test something new.
I activated [Aura Force], a technique the Patriarch had taught us.
Instantly, my STR increased by +25, but my INT dropped by -25.
So, this is how it works, I mused.
[Aura Force] sacrifices magical power for raw physical strength.
“I’ll rely only on [Aura Force] for now,” I told myself.
“No Dark Magic.
It’s time to train my body and reduce my dependency on magic.” Envi chimed in, his tone surprisingly serious.
“You’re making the right call, Nao.
If you want to become the strongest, you’ll need to master both physical and magical strength.
Relying on magic alone would make you more of a mage than a swordsman.” That was… oddly insightful for him.
Normally, Envi just made jokes or annoyed me.

I allowed myself a small smile, taking his advice to heart.
To my surprise, Julius, Marius, and Mark also activated their [Aura Force].
Their attacks became devastatingly powerful.
By the ninth floor, our progress had been steady.
I decided it was time to rest.
…
As we set up camp, I reflected on what little we knew about this dungeon.
Dungeon appearances were a mystery even in this world.
Many believed the demons were responsible, as dungeons only began appearing after the Demon King was sealed.
But that theory had been debunked.
Dungeons didn’t originate from demons-they were powered by the boss monsters within them.
The creatures emerging from dungeons weren’t imbued with Dark Magic.
They were pure, feral monsters, driven by a singular purpose: to kill humans.
Humanity eventually classified dungeons as disasters, phenomena without clear causes.
In my mind, I compared this dungeon to the ones described in the books I’d read back at the Blackmore mansion.
Most followed a similar pattern: once the boss was defeated, the dungeon would collapse and become inactive.
Elan had once told me about the Patriarch leading a group of Blackmore knights to conquer a dungeon with 30 floors.
That dungeon, too, had disappeared once the boss was slain.
If left unchecked, however, dungeons could trigger a Dungeon Break-a catastrophic event where the boss monster would emerge and lead an army of monsters to rampage across the land.
No wonder the Patriarch entrusted this mission to me.
With the kingdom’s knights focused on the war, it was up to the Blackmore family to prevent a Dungeon Break.
I estimated it would take 5€“6 days to conquer this dungeon, assuming it also spanned 30 floors like the one Patriarch had cleared.
“Let’s stay cautious,” I told my team as we rested on the ninth floor.
“Every floor tens (10, 20, 30, etc) could have a mini-boss guarding the way to the next level.
Be ready.” As the night settled, we made a campfire.
Elan, Vivin, Mia, and Nyssa cooked for us-a huge blessing.
Without them, we’d probably be stuck with dry rations.
After dinner, I sent the maids to sleep first.
The rest of us-Julius, Marius, Mark, and I-took turns keeping watch.
“Didn’t expect our day off turn into dungeon duty,” Julius said with a chuckle.
“Sorry about that,” I replied.
“Don’t be,” Julius shrugged.
“I’m glad for the experience.” Marius laughed heartily.
“Same here.
I’d take this over lazing around all day!” Mark joined in.
“It’s my first dungeon, but I’m glad to be here-with my brother, no less.” His words made me blush a little.
“Good thing Milly didn’t come along,” I joked.
“She’d probably get lost in this place.” We all laughed together, the tension of the day fading for a moment.
…
The next morning, we pressed on, reaching the 10th floor.
As soon as we entered, an oppressive aura filled the air.
We spent over an hour navigating its maze-like corridors but hadn’t encountered a single monster.
“This is strange,” Vivin muttered.
And then, we found them.
Piles of monster corpses littered the path ahead.
The deeper we ventured, the more bodies we found.
“Get ready!” I ordered.
“There’s a mini-boss ahead!” My [Eclipse Eyes] detected a powerful aura looming at the floor’s end.
As we approached, a booming, sinister laugh echoed through the air.
GAH GAH GAH!
“That laugh… no way!” Envi’s voice wavered.
“It can’t be,” I murmured.
“But if it is, we have to defeat him!” Suddenly, a familiar figure emerged-a towering Troll wielding a massive stone axe.
His face bore a psychotic grin, and a murderous aura radiated from his dark red, heavily muscled body.
Something about him was off compared to the one I had defeated before.
I glanced at his status: Dungeon Berserker Troll King (Level 40) “Berserker Troll King?!
What’s he doing here?
I’m certain I killed him before!” I shouted in disbelief, confusing my team.
“What do you mean, Naok?!” Julius asked, alarmed.
“Have you fought him before?” Marius inquired, his brow furrowed.
“That’s right.
I defeated him while saving Lyra and Freya in this forest.
It was a desperate battle, but we managed to take him down.” “That explains why we didn’t recognize him,” Elan said with a serious expression.
“This must be the monster you told us about before.” GAH GAH GAH!
The monster let out a thunderous laugh before charging at us.
Despite his massive size, his speed was astonishing.
“Mia, cast a defensive spell!
Vivin, Mark, Nyssa, protect her!
This monster tends to target the rear when we’re off guard!” I shouted, giving quick commands.
Mia immediately cast [Support Magic: Physical Barrier], shielding us against attacks that could overpower our defenses.
“Julius, Elan, Marius, we’ll strike together!” “Got it!” They responded in unison, readying their weapons.
The monster leapt at us, its colossal axe raised high.
Marius intercepted the attack, straining to block the powerful strike.
Meanwhile, Julius, Elan, and I launched a coordinated assault from different angles.
We exchanged attacks with the berserker troll king, but he was able to repel all our attacks with his great strength.
Made us all crash.
Then I used [Blackmore Katana Style: Inazuma], a lightning-quick slash, carving into its left abdomen.
Yet, the monster seemed unfazed, retaliating with unrelenting ferocity.
Marius held his ground as best he could, his barrier visibly cracking.
Seizing the opportunity, Elan executed [Assassin Skill: Fatal Strike!], landing a blow on the monster’s neck.
Julius followed up with [Starlight Swordsmanship: First Form, Luminous Edge], dealing significant damage.
Despite the combined assault, the Berserker Troll King didn’t falter, even with severe injuries.
His maniacal laughter echoed as he shattered Marius’s defenses, sending him flying.
Then, with terrifying speed, the monster bolted toward Mia.
“He’s targeting Mia!
Vivin, Mark, Nyssa, protect her!” I shouted desperately.
Mia shut her eyes as the axe neared, but Vivin intervened with [Tank Skill: Damage Absorption!], absorbing the brunt of the attack.
Nyssa followed up with her dark magic scythe, and Mark unleashed [Blackmore Swordsmanship: Third Form, Nisshou-Giri], severing both of the monster’s arms.
“Great work, Vivin, Mark, Nyssa!” Taking advantage of the opening, I activate [Blackmore Katana Style: Kasoseki] to increasing my AGI stat and sprinted behind the monster and activating [Blackmore Katana Style: Tsurugi no Mai!], I delivered a flurry of precise slashes, cutting its massive body into pieces.
A notification flashed before me, signaling the victory.
But something was amiss.
The experience points were minimal, and I didn’t level up.
This dungeon was shrouded in mystery, but for now, my focus was on my team.
“Mia, are you okay?” I asked, concerned.
“I’m fine, Master Naoki.
Thank you, Vivin-senpai, Master Mark, and Nyssa, for protecting me,” she said, smiling in gratitude.
With the crisis averted, we descended further.
By the end of the second day, we reached the 15th floor-a promising pace.
If all went well, we’d reach the boss by the fourth or fifth day.
We decided to rest on this floor, exhausted from the earlier battle.
While on watch, Julius and Marius joined me.
“Hey, Naoki…
don’t you feel something’s off about this dungeon?” Julius asked, a trace of worry in his voice.
“You’re not wrong.
I’ve felt it too,” Marius added.
“It’s as though the deeper we go, the more drained we become.” “You’re both right,” I confirmed.
“I used [Eclipse Eye] to investigate.
This dungeon absorbs our mana and aura, channeling it to the lowest floor.
I suspect this is the boss’s ability.” “If that’s true, we’ll be severely weakened when we face the boss,” Julius said, frustration evident.
“How can we fight under such conditions?” Marius’s confidence seemed to waver.
“Calm down,” I reassured them.
“I have a plan.
Marius, fetch Mark.
I’ll explain everything.” After Mark arrived, I laid out my strategy.
It was risky, but the best option we had.
“That’s insane, big bro Naoki!
You could die!” Mark protested.
“I won’t die you idiot!
This is the only way,” I replied firmly.
Reluctantly, they agreed.
The next morning, I put the plan into action.
I ventured ahead alone, clearing each floor as swiftly as possible.
My team would follow at a steady pace, meeting me at the boss’s chamber.
This approach minimized the monsters they’d face, reducing the strain on their strength.
“Are you ready, Envi?” I asked, preparing myself.
“HAHAHA!
Leave it to the great Envi!
It’s my time to shine!” Envi’s enthusiasm was infectious.
I relinquished control to him, allowing him to take over.
Envi dashed forward, annihilating monsters with unbridled speed and efficiency.
It was a race against time to secure the path for my team.
This dungeon’s mysteries were deepening, and the ultimate challenge still awaited us below CREATORS’ THOUGHTS NAVIRUNAVIII Get ready for the boss battle!
