Chapter 97: Be Aware of The Rusted Titan!
We stepped onto the 20th floor, and the sight before us was grim.
Several teams who had entered before us had already fallen.
Around six teams lay sprawled near the walls, some barely clinging to life while others bore only minor injuries.
Professors rushed in, casting [Heal] to save those who could still be helped.
I clenched my fists-most of them were students from Class 3-C, my classmates.
Lyra, Amelia, Marius, and Luna.
“Lyra, help the professors with your magic!” I instructed her, my voice firm but urgent.
Without hesitation, Lyra stepped forward and activated her magic.
“[High Support Magic: Area Heal!]” A radiant light spread throughout the room, enveloping the injured students and accelerating their recovery.
The professors exchanged impressed glances, clearly amazed by Lyra’s capabilities.
“Keep focusing on healing them, Lyra.
I’ll handle the mini-boss with Marius, Julius, Luna, and Termina.
Amelia protect Lyra and stay by her side and give her MP potions when she needs them.” Just as I finished speaking, the mini-boss made its move.
It wasn’t going to sit idly by and let Lyra heal the fallen students.
The moment it detected the large surge of magic, it began stomping toward her.
I quickly checked its status: [Rusted Titan (Level 45)] A massive golem composed of rusted gears and corroded metal.
It boasts incredible strength but moves sluggishly.
It aggressively targets large sources of magic.
So that’s why it’s heading straight for Lyra.
“Lyra!
Keep going!
Don’t hesitate!
I’ll draw its attention!” “Marius, Julius, and Luna let’s lure this rusted hunk away!
Termina, cover us from range!” I commanded without missing a beat.
Marius immediately activated [War Cry] and [Taunt], boosting our attack power while directing the Titan’s focus onto himself.
The golem faltered for a second.
We thought it would go for Marius, but instead, it continued charging toward Lyra.
“Damn it!
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
It’s prioritizing magic users!” I gritted my teeth and moved behind the Titan.
“[Dark Magic: Phantom Slash 3X!]” Three shadowy slashes flew at its back, striking its rusted body and making it shift its attention toward me.
“Just as I thought!
It’s only interested in magic!” Envi’s voice rang in my head.
“That just makes things easier!
Let’s take it down!” The Titan roared and used [Titan Stomp], causing the ground to tremble violently.
The shaking threw us off balance, making it harder to move.
Julius reacted swiftly, leaping into the air.
“[Starlight Swordsmanship: Radiant Strike!]” His blade shone brilliantly, sending a powerful slash toward the Titan and pushing it back.
Following up, Termina loosed a barrage of electrified arrows.
“[Stormheim Archery: Thunder Arrow Barrage!]” The Titan staggered as lightning crackled across its rusted body, stunning it momentarily.
Luna then took advantage of the moment by attacking using the skill [Solarblade Swordsmanship: Solar Cascade!] unleashing a series of radiant attacks that tore apart the Rusted Titan’s body, causing debris to fall from its body.
“Nice work!
You guys have gotten stronger!” I praised them before drawing my katana.
Focusing my energy, I channeled [Dark Magic: Shadow Katana], coating my blade in dark energy.
My agility surged as I activated [Kasoseki].
In a flash, I was in front of the Titan, executing my next move.
“[Blackmore Katana Style: Inazuma!]” A sharp, lightning-fast slash cleaved through its metallic form, sending fragments of rusted metal flying.
But the battle wasn’t over.
The Titan reassembled itself, gears and metal pieces pulling back together.
In its core, a faint glow pulsed.
“It has a regeneration core!
We need to destroy that to defeat it!” I realized.
As we resumed the fight, the other students who had recovered from Lyra’s healing stepped forward.
“We’ll help!” one of them shouted.
Most of them were from Class 3-C.
I nodded.
“Alright!
Attack together!
Marius, protect them!” The battle intensified as the Titan’s movements became more erratic.
It swung its massive rusted arms wildly, forcing us to constantly dodge and reposition.
The students unleashed a barrage of attacks, some casting fire magic, others launching weapons imbued with magic.
“Everyone, don’t let up!
Keep attacking!” I shouted, reinforcing our morale.
After ten more minutes of intense battle, the Titan prepared its ultimate move.
“[Magnet Field!]” A strong magnetic force pulled all metal weapons toward it.
Our swords and spears were yanked from our grip.
Even arrows in mid-flight were dragged to its rusted body.
Without hesitation, I charged forward.
“Marius, distract it with your barehanded combat!” Marius dashed in, his fists glowing with energy.
“[Iron Punch!]” A single devastating strike crushed the Titan’s knee, forcing it down.
This was my chance.
I activated [Eclipse Eyes], locating the Titan’s core.
Gathering my aura, I concentrated everything into my next attack.
“[Blackmore Katana Style: Kuroi Tsubame!]” Aura blades extended from both my arms as I dashed forward.
The Titan, sensing danger, attempted to retaliate.
Its massive arm came crashing down toward me, but I spun mid-air, narrowly dodging it.
“This is the end!” I roared as I plunged my aura blades into its core.
A deafening explosion erupted from within the Titan.
Its entire body shuddered violently before its rusted limbs crumbled away, revealing its glowing, now fractured core.
“One more strike!” I shouted, and in unison, Julius, Termina, and the other students unleashed their strongest attacks on the exposed core.
With a final, ear-splitting screech, the Rusted Titan shattered into countless fragments, its remains dissolving into dust.
Silence filled the room, broken only by our heavy breathing.
“We did it…” Lyra murmured in disbelief.
“You guys did it…” Luna still in shock.
I exhaled sharply, sheathing my katana.
“Yeah…
It’s over.” “Damn you, Nao!
Trying to look cool in front of everyone, huh?!
HAHAHA!” Envi burst into laughter, though his voice carried a hint of pride.
I chuckled along with him.
A notification appeared before me: “The 20th floor’s mini-boss has been defeated.”But my level didn’t increase.
As expected, ever since I reached level 70, leveling up had required significantly more EXP.
Looks like I’ll be stuck at this level until I take down stronger opponents.
…
After defeating the Rusted Titan, my team and I, along with Julius’s team, were preparing to move to the 21st floor.
But before we could leave, the teams we had rescued earlier approached us.
They bowed their heads in gratitude, thanking us for saving their lives.
Even the professors praised our courage.
Apparently, the teams that reached the 20th floor usually fought the mini-boss without helping one another, leaving the wounded behind to fend for themselves.
The rescued teams confirmed this, saying that most players who advanced to the next floor were incredibly selfish.
Especially Cain’s team-Cain had mercilessly taken down the Rusted Titan, his reckless attacks injuring those around him.
He even laughed maniacally after claiming victory, leaving the wounded behind without a second thought.
Hearing this only solidified my impression of Cain.
He was a battle-crazed maniac who cared nothing for his subordinates or the people around him.
I felt bad for Freya and Kael, who were forced to follow him.
They must be exhausted dealing with him.
After listening to their grievances, some of them decided to give up and leave the dungeon with the professors.
Most were either too injured or had run out of mana and stamina.
However, three teams from Class 3-C remained, standing there in hesitation.
“Well?
Are you going to give up here and fail this year’s exam?
Or will you follow me to the 30th floor, where we’ll stop?
If you give up now, you’ll fail for sure.
At the very least, we need to conquer the 30th floor to pass the academy’s graduation requirement.
If you’re afraid of failure, then leave!” I declared firmly.
They trembled, voicing their fears.
They were afraid of being a burden to me…
afraid they would die because they were too weak.
Hearing that, I immediately responded: “We are future knights of the Braveheart Kingdom.
Now is the time to prove ourselves!
Remember why you enrolled in this academy in the first place.
If you’re willing to throw away the hopes of those who believe in you so easily, then don’t even think about becoming a knight.
Just quit right here and now.” Upon hearing my words, they clenched their fists, a fire igniting in their eyes.
Finally, they made their decision-to continue descending the dungeon and aim for the 30th floor alongside my team.
I welcomed them with open arms.
With that, our group had grown.
Originally, it had been just two teams-mine and Julius’s.
But now, three more teams had joined us.
Julius looked a bit uneasy about this sudden change, worried it would disrupt our original plans.
However, I assured him that it would be fine, “We can still stick to the plan.” After a moment of thought, he sighed and nodded.
“Alright then.” Finally we left the 20th floor, we didn’t want to linger here because the mini-boss would reset.
We went down to the 21st floor.
…
We finally arrived on the 21st floor.
From here until the 29th floor, we would be facing Plague Swarm-hordes of giant insects that spread deadly toxins.
As soon as we set foot on the floor, swarms of monstrous insects began to crawl toward us.
“AAAHHH!!!” A sudden scream rang out.
It was Marius.
He had jumped in fear and latched onto Julius beside him.
“Hey, Marius, first you were scared of the undead, and now you’re scared of bugs?” Julius sighed, rubbing his temple.
“With your big body, that reaction doesn’t suit you at all.” “That’s right, Marius,” I added.
“You should let go of-AAAHH-!!!” Before I could finish my sentence, a massive bug landed on my head.
I shrieked in terror.
Silence.
Everyone stared at me.
“…Umm, Naoki-sama, this isn’t really the best place for that,” Lyra said awkwardly, standing right in front of me.
“Fufu~ Naoki, you naughty boy…
I’ll give you all the hugs you want when we get back,” Amelia smirked mischievously.
That’s when I realized- In my panic, I had jumped into Lyra and Amelia’s arms.
“U-Uh…” “Naoki…” Marius grinned wickedly.
“You were making fun of me for being scared of bugs…
but looks like you’re just as terrified!
Pfft…
PFFT-HAHAHAHAHAHA!!” He burst into laughter.
The rest of the team followed, their chuckles turning into full-blown laughter.
Even Envi was roaring with laughter in my mind.
My face burned red with embarrassment.
Hastily, I let go of Lyra and Amelia.
Damn it!
I forgot that I was scared of insects…This is not cool.
