- Chapter 99 - Chapter 99 The Cunning Venomous Tyrant
Chapter 99: The Cunning Venomous Tyrant Chapter 99: The Cunning Venomous Tyrant Julius, Leopold, Marius, and I charged toward the Venomous Tyrant.
The massive insect-like beast responded in kind, sprinting toward us with terrifying speed.
Marius, however, was still trembling.
His body shook, his pupils dilated in fear.
He was paralyzed.
Seeing this, I immediately struck him on the head, snapping him back to reality.
“Snap out of it, you big idiot!
Conquer your fear and fight!” I scolded him.
“B-But Naoki…
I can’t do it like you…
That thing is terrifying and disgusting!” Marius hesitated, trying to justify his fear.
I sighed.
“Listen, stop thinking of it as a bug.
Think of it as just another monster that looks like an insect.
That way, it’s completely different from the bugs you hate.
I believe in you, Marius.
You’re the best tank here!” Marius stared at me for a moment before gritting his teeth and clenching his fists.
“You’re right…
I’ll do it!” He roared and charged forward.
The fear in his eyes was gone.
He had overcome it.
Marius activated [War Cry], drawing the monster’s attention.
The Venomous Tyrant snarled and lunged at him, its massive claws crashing down like boulders.
BAM!
BAM!
BAM!
Despite the relentless barrage, Marius stood firm, blocking every attack with his massive shield.
With Marius holding the monster’s attention, Julius and I moved in for an attack.
“[Blackmore Katana Style: Tsurugi no Mai!]” I slashed at its many legs, causing it to screech in pain.
Julius followed up immediately.

“[Starlight Swordsmanship: Radiant Slash!]” His blade shimmered as he slashed at the monster’s armored body.
BAM!
The attack connected-but barely made a dent.
“No way!
That exoskeleton is insanely tough!” Julius gasped.
“It’s fine.
We’re not done yet.
Leopold, now!” I shouted.
Leopold had been preparing his attack all along.
He leaped high into the air, his sword blazing with fire.
“[Flamemore Swordsmanship: Flare Strike!]” He unleashed a powerful flame wave aimed at the monster’s head.
But just before it hit, the Venomous Tyrant activated [Burrow Ambush], vanishing underground.
It reappeared behind us, lunging with its razor-sharp claws.
“Damn cowardly bug!!” Leopold cursed as his attack missed.
I narrowed my eyes.
“No, this confirms it-its weakness is fire.
That’s why Cain was able to beat it so easily.” I muttered, recalling Cain’s smug battle-hungry grin.
Then, I felt something off.
The Venomous Tyrant’s presence suddenly disappeared, as if it had melted into the very fabric of the dungeon floor.
The eerie silence that followed sent a cold shiver down my spine.
Something was wrong.
I quickly activated [Eclipse Eyes], scanning for its life force beneath the ground.
My heart pounded as my vision locked onto its energy signature-moving fast, burrowing through the earth like a predator stalking its prey.
My eyes widened in horror.
It was heading straight for Lyra, Amelia, Luna, and Termina-the ones healing the poisoned students!
“Everyone, get out of there!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, but my voice barely reached them in time.
The monster erupted from the ground, its jagged exoskeleton gleaming under the dim dungeon light.
Without hesitation, it unleashed [Toxic Rain]-a deadly shower of acidic poison that corroded armor and drained stamina.
The air became thick with the pungent stench of venom, sizzling as it made contact with the stone floor.
I sprinted at full speed using [Kasoseki], doubling my movement speed.
But even then, I wouldn’t make it in time.
The attack was already descending upon them like a cursed downpour.
Then- BOOM!
Marius threw himself in front of them, activating [High Tank Skills: Area Damage Absorption].
A massive mana barrier expanded around him, absorbing the entire attack.
The translucent shield pulsed as it absorbed the acid rain, rippling like the surface of a disturbed pond.
The acid pounded against his shield, yet he held firm.
The sheer pressure forced him onto one knee, his face contorted in pain.
The poison seeped through, making him cough blood, yet he refused to back down.
His hands trembled as he reinforced the barrier, his body acting as the last line of defense between his comrades and certain doom.
“Well done, Marius…” I murmured, respect filling my voice.
But there was no time to waste.
I darted behind the monster and unleashed [Blackmore Katana Style: Dark Aura Blade!].
Dark energy coiled around my katana, extending its reach and amplifying its power several times over.
The air around me distorted as the sheer force of my aura cut through space itself.
“Damn bug, how dare you fight so dirty?!” I roared.
With one swift slash, I severed its poisonous tail.
The Venomous Tyrant shrieked in agony, its screech echoing through the dungeon walls.
Purple blood gushed from the wound, sizzling as it touched the ground.
The loss of its tail sent it into a frenzy.
Now furious, it began rampaging, its monstrous legs stomping wildly, shaking the entire chamber.
Julius, Leopold, and I pressed the attack.
Luna joined in, her twin blades flashing as she executed a rapid flurry of slashes, each one synchronized perfectly with our strikes.
Her movements were swift and precise, like a dancer weaving through a battlefield of death.
Termina readied her bow, channeling a surge of electricity into a single, deadly shot.
Her eyes locked onto the perfect opening.
“[Stormheim Archery: Pierce Lightning Arrow!]” A deafening crack filled the air as the electrified arrow soared forward, striking true.
The impact sent violent sparks flying as it drilled into the monster’s exoskeleton, leaving a gaping wound in its once-impenetrable armor.
This was our chance.
Leopold and I launched a combo attack.
I plunged my katana into the beast’s open wound, pinning it down.
The creature writhed in pain, its movements slowing under the sheer force of my blade.
Leopold smirked.
“This time, I won’t miss!
Take this-[Flamemore Swordsmanship: Flare Strike!]” A wave of crimson flames surged from his blade, engulfing the monster in an inferno.
The scorching heat melted its tough exterior, causing its thick carapace to crack and shatter.
But I wasn’t finished.
I absorbed the flames using [Resonance], feeling the power course through my body, amplifying them even further.
“[Resonance: Karyuu no Issen, Full Burst!]” Fire exploded from my katana, surging into the monster’s body.
The energy coiled inside it like a raging storm before detonating from within.
The Venomous Tyrant let out one final, blood-curdling scream as the inferno consumed it entirely.
The poison within its body ignited, fueling the blaze, reducing the once-terrifying creature to nothing but ashes.
Silence fell over the battlefield.
Then- Cheers erupted.
We had won.
The entire team celebrated, their voices filled with relief and triumph.
The rescued students, now cured, sobbed as they realized they had survived.
The weight of our victory settled in, exhaustion mixing with exhilaration.
I sheathed my katana, exhaling deeply.
This was only one battle.
The dungeon awaited.
And Cain was still ahead.
We couldn’t stop now.
…
The battle had ended, but there was no time to rest.
As we caught our breath, we turned our attention to the injured students from Class 3-C and 3-B who lay scattered across the floor, their faces pale, their armor corroded by poison.
Some of them groaned in pain, while others remained eerily still, their breaths shallow.
The sight of them, battered and broken, sent a surge of anger coursing through me.
I stepped forward, my voice firm.
“What happened here?
Why are you all in this condition?” A student, barely able to lift his head, rasped, “Cain… Cain and his team… They led the charge against the Venomous Tyrant, but… he used us… as bait.” My fists clenched.
“What?” “He sent other teams in first… He let us take the brunt of its attacks, its poison, its claws.
And when we were too weak to fight back, he stepped in and finished it off with his Flamemore Swordsmanship… He sacrificed us just to claim victory.” Rage burned in my chest.
I gritted my teeth.
“You’ve gone too far, Cain… Do you really want to win against me that badly?
Or is this just who you truly are?” My mind raced with anger, yet beneath it all, a bitter realization sank in-Cain had no limits when it came to victory.
He didn’t see comrades, only tools.
Then, Envi’s voice echoed in my mind, his tone low and grave.
“Cain is a battle maniac.
He will do whatever it takes to defeat his enemies-no matter the cost.” I exhaled sharply, forcing myself to calm down.
There was no point in dwelling on it now.
If Cain had already set his sights on conquering this dungeon, then I would simply have to reach the boss first.
I steeled my resolve.
I would not let him claim victory this time.
Some of the students from Class 3-C and 3-B, too weakened to continue, made the painful decision to withdraw.
Professors helped them to their feet, guiding them back toward the dungeon’s exit.
But others-those whose spirits remained unbroken-chose to press forward, despite their injuries.
Determination burned in their eyes as they aligned themselves with my team and Julius’ team.
With our forces renewed and our purpose clear, we turned toward the looming staircase at the end of the chamber.
Beyond it, the 31st floor awaited.
With one last glance at the fallen students, I tightened my grip on my katana and stepped forward, ready for whatever lay ahead.
Finally we entered the 31st floor.
On this floor until the 39th floor, we faced strange monsters.
They were some kind of astral beings with skills to cast curses.
This time Amelia stepped forward, she believed in her divine magic which was effective against this type of monster.
“Time to act!
Naoki and everyone step back, let me finish off these damn monsters!” Amelia looked very excited, she rolled up her sleeves and clenched her fists, she looked cool.
“You know Naoki-sama, at first I thought Amelia-sama was a gentle princess, but it turns out she’s not.
She’s very strong and cool!” Lyra said that with sparkling eyes.
“You’re right…” I smiled at her and Amelia too.
