Chapter 350: [Wedding By Blood] [2]
The ceremony finally ended after another hour of playing.
As expected by most—except perhaps the bride herself—she emerged victorious.
Though tensions between the families had briefly flared, they were quickly suppressed.
At the grand hall of the Davana palace, Yennefer glanced down at the little girl in her arms.
“Do you like it, Iffa?” she asked softly.
Iffa’s emerald eyes sparkled as she savored the ice cream in her hands. “It’s sweet!”
Yennefer chuckled, using her sleeve to gently wipe a smudge from the child’s face.
“I’m glad you like it.” Yennefer said, as she looked beside her.
Her gaze shifted to the side, where Hannah, Aimar, and Zenith stood together.
For a while now, Zenith had been subtly working to keep Hannah and Aimar close—despite Aimar’s repeated attempts to slip away.
She never let him.
‘Did Himmel ask her to do it?’
Yennefer mused, her lips curled into a gentle smile.
Hannah had endured a hellish life.
Had Yennefer not intervened, pulling her away from that wretched family, she wasn’t sure what might have happened to her.
‘She deserves happiness, even if it’s only a little bit.’
A gentle tug at her sleeve brought Yennefer back to the present.
“Yenna, can I have more ice cream?” Iffa asked, her green eyes wide with hope.
Yennefer patted her head. “Too much, and you’ll get a stomachache.”
Iffa pouted but didn’t argue. Instead, she grabbed Yennefer’s hand. “Where’s Papa?”
Yennefer glanced around but couldn’t find him. “I don’t know. Maybe in his room?”
Iffa’s pout deepened. “I wanna see Papa.”
Yennefer sighed, shifting her hold on the girl.
Even though the ceremony had ended, most of the nobles still lingered—using the opportunity to form connections.
“Then let’s go find him.”
She moved toward Zenith and the others.
But before she could speak—
“Oh! Look who we have here.”
A voice interrupted.
A familiar, irritating voice.

Yennefer turned.
A man approached, his presence as unwelcome as ever.
Mid-forties, with short black hair and matching dark eyes.
Despite his slim build, he carried himself with the arrogance expected of a demigod’s son.
“How have you been, sisters?” Albus—Edel’s youngest son—asked mockingly.
Hannah flinched visibly at the sight of the man.
But what terrified her more was her brother’s gaze on Aimar.
“We have no business with you, Albus.” Yennefer quickly shielded the others behind her.
“How could we not?” He placed a hand over his heart, feigning pain. “I’m your dear little brother.”
“You lost the right to call me your sister a long time ago, Albus.” Yennefer’s gaze turned cold. “Get lost.”
Albus smirked. His gaze flickered to Iffa.
“…And who is this now?”
Iffa shrank against Yennefer, clutching her tighter.
Albus took another step closer. “Is she like your other daughter, born from your adultery—”
“Say one more word,” Yennefer cut him off, her presence suddenly suffocating.
For a moment, the air itself seemed to press down on him.
“And not even Edel will be able to save you.”
Albus gritted his teeth, bracing himself against the invisible weight, but it was clear—he felt it.
The difference in their power.
Even the surrounding nobles shifted uneasily, sensing the shift in atmosphere.
Albus raised his hands in mock surrender. “I’ll behave… for now.”
His eyes flickered to Hannah, then Aimar, assessing them both.
“But tell me, how long do you think you can protect them?”
Yennefer didn’t respond.
She didn’t need to.
The look in her eyes was answer enough.
Albus let out a dry chuckle, then pointed at Aimar. “Let me make a prediction—”
His smile sharpened.
“That boy won’t live long.”
“Why don’t you try fuc—”
Aimar took a step forward, but Hannah’s hand shot out, gripping his arm tightly.
Fear gripped her chest.
She knew what Albus was capable of.
She knew what he had already done.
“Aimar.”
Her voice trembled.
Aimar clenched his fists, but at her pleading look, he stayed silent.
Then—
“Uncle.”
A voice called from behind.
Albus turned to see Vlad waiting for him.
His lips curled into a quiet smile. “Hopefully, the next time we meet… isn’t at a funeral.”
And with that, he turned away.
But—
For a fleeting moment—
His gaze landed on Zenith.
A look of lust crept onto his face that he quickly hid away.
He licked his lips, then disappeared toward Vlad.
Yennefer exhaled, forcing herself to relax.
Aimar was still staring at the spot where Albus had stood, his usual awkward demeanor replaced by something eerily quiet.
Hannah, on the other hand, had gone pale, her hands trembling at her sides.
Yennefer placed a hand on her shoulder. “He can’t hurt you anymore.”
Hannah swallowed hard, nodding—but the fear in her eyes remained.
For years, Albus had tormented her.
He alone was the reason behind her timid nature.
The reason she struggled to speak.
Even as her twin brother, she could never forgive him.
She glanced at Aimar, who was still staring blankly in the direction Albus had gone.
“A-Aimar…” she stammered.
He turned to look at her.
“Please don’t do anything reckless.”
Aimar didn’t respond.
Instead, he quietly walked away.
Iffa lifted her head. “Yenna… I don’t like him.”
Yennefer forced a smile, kissing the top of her head. “You don’t have to, sweet one.”
Iffa blinked. “Can I kill him?”
Yennefer’s smile faded. “Children shouldn’t talk about killing.”
Iffa tilted her head. “If I ask Papa, he’ll do it.”
She looked up, eyes innocent yet certain.
“Even Uncle Aimar and Uncle Elijah would.”
Yennefer pinched her cheek lightly. “Come on. Let’s find your father.”
Iffa beamed. “Let’s go!”
As they walked away, Yennefer’s gaze flickered to Zenith, trailing behind Aimar.
She had already explained the situation between Hannah and Aimar.
If nothing else, she hoped Zenith and her brother could form a bond.
But Albus’s words lingered in her mind.
A threat she couldn’t ignore.
‘I need to do something about him.’
With that thought in mind, Yennefer walked towards the elves.
She wanted to ask Mariam about Himmel’s room.
—–
Halfway through, Yennefer ran into someone she hadn’t spoken to in a long time.
“How have you been, Yennefer?”
Nerissa’s olive-green eyes studied her carefully.
Yennefer adjusted her hold on Iffa.
Her gaze flickered to Nymeria, standing a few steps behind Nerissa.
“What do you want?” Yennefer asked, her voice devoid of emotion.
“Can we talk?” Nerissa glanced at Iffa. “Alone.”
Yennefer sighed. “Iffa, can you wait for a bit?”
Iffa blinked. “Can I play?”
Yennefer smiled. “With who?”
Iffa pointed straight at Nymeria. “With her!”
Nymeria’s golden, spiral-filled eyes narrowed. “What?”
Iffa ran over, grabbing her hand. “Let’s play!”
“Leave me alone, you chi—”
“Entertain her for a while, Nymeria.” Nerissa interrupted sharply. “And don’t harm her.”
“Mother—?”
“That’s an order.”
Nymeria’s jaw tightened, but she bowed. “…Yes.”
Nerissa nodded, then turned on her heel, leading Yennefer toward a quiet balcony.
A cool breeze rolled past them as they stood apart.
“You never answered me,” Nerissa whispered. “How have you been—”
“We aren’t friends.” Yennefer whispered, her voice sharp. “No need for formalities.”
Nerissa was silent for a moment before nodding.
“…Then I’ll get to the point.”
Her voice turned cold.
“Why are you helping that abomination?”
Yennefer glared at her. “Don’t call him that.”
“I’m calling him what he is.” Nerissa replied, without any change in her tone. “An abnormal being who shouldn’t have been alive—.”
“He was a child,” Yennefer cut in. “An innocent child.”
Nerissa let out a bitter laugh. “What kind of innocent child kills thousands?”
“It wasn’t his fault.” Yennefer exhaled, the memory of that day heavy on her shoulders. “What happened was a mistake.”
“A mistake that cost me everything,” Nerissa whispered, her eyes dark with grief. “My father. My mother… my child.”
Yennefer rubbed her eyes.
Even though Nerissa tried to hide it well, she could clearly feel the pain in her voice.
“You were there,” Nerissa continued, voice shaking. “You saw my child die in my arms. So tell me, how can you defend him?”
“It wasn’t his fault.” Yennefer repeated, her tone firm. “And you know it.”
“It was his fault—!”
“You wouldn’t have begged Esmeray to seal his memories if you truly believed that.”
Silence.
Yennefer sighed, exhaustion creeping into her voice. “No matter how much you deny it, I know the truth. You didn’t want him to live his life drowning in guilt.”
Nerissa inhaled sharply. “I don’t care. I will kill him.”
“….”
Yennefer quietly looked at her.
Then—.
Without a word, she turned around and walked away.
“Did you hear me!?” Nerissa’s voice rose, burning with fury. “I said I will kill him!”
Yennefer glanced back. “If not for him, the elves wouldn’t have survived. He saved the World Tree.”
That was all it took for Nerissa to snap.
“I don’t care about the elves!” she screamed, her hatred crackling like fire. “I lost my child! No matter what it takes, I will kill him!”
Yennefer didn’t stop, didn’t look back.
Behind her, Nerissa’s voice rang through the night, over and over again.
“I will kill him! I will kill him!”
And yet, no matter how many times she screamed it, nothing would bring back what she had lost.
*****
“Urgh.”
A stinging pain kept making my head buzz.
“Why does my head hurt?”
I slept peacefully the entire night, and even then, I felt worse.
Fuck.
Squinting my eyes, I looked at the sun that was close to the horizon.
I sighed, rubbing my eyes.
Even though Mariam warned me about the consequences, I still decided to join Mortis.
There were multiple reasons to join, but the main one was—.
‘I don’t want to bother with Siersha.’
That girl gives me a headache.
Even though I know she isn’t that threatening.
I can kill her.
But—.
The problem is her goal.
And what she is up to.
I have no idea what she gains from helping me and going against Edwin.
If anything, it’s concerning.
And—.
Another reason is to meet someone.
‘Are you sure she will be there, Inna?’
[<Gwenyra and she have known each other for a long time. I am sure she will be there.>]
I nodded, rubbing my neck.
Meeting her will be a gamble.
It all depends on her.
I let out a tired sigh.
My steps slowed down as I noticed someone.
Epione.
