Chapter 376: [Wedding By Blood] [28] [Different choices]
“Now.”
Jones sat back on his seat once again.
“Do you want to live?”
Elijah glared at the man who sat lazily on the seat.
He tried his best to break free while his blood kept dripping from his wrist.
Killian, who had been in a state of shock, finally looked up.
His voice filled the room. “…Will you let Cecily go?”
Jones looked at his eldest son, his eyes not showing a trace of warmth.
“It depends.”
He replied, his voice cold.
“Will you do as asked?”
Killian clenched his fists, his lips parted, but no words came out.
Elijah tightened his jaw as he turned towards him.
“Don’t,” he muttered. “Don’t give in to him.”
“Don’t listen to him, Killian.” Jones stood, walking towards him. “He lost his lover and is trying to make you lose yours.”
“SHUT UP—Urgh!”
Elijah’s words turned into a cough as Jones’ punch connected to his stomach.
“We don’t have all day, Killian.” Jones said, ignoring Elijah’s pained voice.
Killian shut his eyes for a heartbeat.
Cecily’s face flashed before him—her smile, the way she’d always tried to protect him.
The way she always helped him no matter the condition.
She didn’t deserve this….
“I’ll do it,” he said, voice low but firm. “Just don’t touch her.”
“Killian!” Elijah snapped, panic filled his voice. “Don’t be stupid—”
“I said I’ll do it!” Killian’s voice cracked. “If it means she lives… I’ll do it.”
Jones smiled.
Not kindly. Not proudly.
But with that cold, twisted satisfaction only a monster could wear so easily.
With a flick of his finger, the chains that bound them snapped open.
Elijah didn’t even think twice before punching his face.

But—.
Jones ducked under his swing, before grabbing his wrist.
Crack!!
“ARGH!!”
Elijah screamed in pain as he felt his wrist bone creaking.
He couldn’t even scream before Jones yanked him forward.
A knee to his face almost broke Elijah’s nose.
“Don’t test my patience, child.” He said, his voice cold.
Blood dripped from Elijah’s nose as he collapsed onto the floor, dazed and gasping.
Jones turned away from him like he was nothing more than a fly.
He turned towards Killian who slowly stood up in a daze.
Jones wrapped his hand around Killian’s shoulder while the door slowly opened.
“Huh?”
Elijah, on the other hand, felt some sort of invisible energy grabbing onto him.
His body floated right behind Jones as he moved.
“Oh, Avril.” He said, looking at his daughter who had slowly started to get up. “Stay here for a while.”
Avril lunged forward, her legs unsteady beneath her.
“KILLIAN!” she screamed, voice raw, tears stinging her eyes. “ELI—!”
The door slammed shut before she could reach them.
Jones didn’t even bother to look back as he dragged both his sons.
“Do you know, Killian.” He said, tightening his grip. “I never liked your mother.”
“….”
Killian could only glare at the man as they walked.
Elijah remembered the place, they were still inside the palace albeit in a different building.
“She was an object of trade.” Jones continued, his voice void of feelings.
“Her father wanted a connection with the Aljanah family and he used her.”
“…Why are you telling me this?” Killian asked, looking at him.
“Do you pity her?” He questioned, tilting his head slightly. “The woman who loved someone like me?”
“Why are you—.”
“If you do, then stop.” He interrupted, his voice cold. “That woman didn’t deserve it.”
Killian tried to break free of his grip on his neck but no matter what he did, it was impossible.
Jones’ hand felt like mountains—impossible to move.
“Who are you to say that!” Killian barked as he couldn’t do anything else.
Instead of replying, Jones looked at the ceiling of the hallway.
“Ahh. I still remember that day.” He said as if reminiscing a distant past. “When Baal took over my body.”
“….”
Killian flinched at his words.
“I trusted that woman with my children.” Jones continued, closing his eyes. “Yet when she was cornered she chose to sacrifice them.”
Killian felt his world had snapped into pieces.
His lips trembled violently. “…You are lying.”
“Why would I?” Jones whispered. “I am just telling the truth about the woman who tried to use her children as bait to save her skin.”
“YOU ARE LYING!!!”
Killian yelled, trying his best to break free from his grip.
But….
Soon he realized it was impossible.
Even though he knew Jones was lying, the seed of doubt had already been planted.
“What do you think, Elijah?” Jones turned to ask his struggling son. “Should she be left alive?”
“….”
Elijah couldn’t even speak.
Jones let him be as they reached the end of the building.
Two soldiers wearing black armor guarded the front door.
“Now, the choice is yours.” Jones whispered as he handed Killian a dagger. “Who do you want to save?”
Killian’s hand trembled violently as he refused to grab the dagger.
Jones forcefully made him hold it.
“Either kill your mother.” He whispered softly. “Or let your lover die.”
“….”
Killian’s breath turned ragged as he couldn’t even bring himself to speak.
As if trying to push him further, Jones took out his phone, connecting the call.
“How long till the Uzume Princess dies?” He asked, staring at Killian’s terror-filled eyes.
“Ten minutes, sir.”
Jones smiled softly as he moved out of his way.
“Now choose.”
Killian stood at the place for a while, unable to process anything.
“Nine minutes.”
The feminine voice echoed once again.
Finally, with trembling steps Killian started to run.
He ran off without looking back.
Even though Jones was aware he would try to find his lover, he let him be.
Instead, he looked at his other son.
“We have an update.”
“Speak.”
Jones ordered.
“Princess Heather is alive.”
Elijah’s body jerked as he heard the voice.
“Heir Himmel saved her life.”
Jones’ lips curled up and Elijah immediately fell to the ground.
Without a word, he dashed out of the place and Jones didn’t stop him.
“Send the troops after the princess.”
Jones said but—.
“No.”
His body blurred.
“I will kill her myself.”
*****
“The one who is behind the attack.”
I interrupted her words.
“It’s Uncle Jones.”
Orelena’s expression faltered in an instant but she quickly returned to normal.
“Watch your mouth, Himmel.” She whispered, her voice firm. “Don’t talk about your uncle—”
“I don’t want that psychopath as my uncle.” I scoffed, turning towards her. “Matter of fact, I don’t want anything from your family—”
“Himmel!”
Much to my irritation, she yelled, glaring at me.
“Don’t talk like—”
“I wish you had been a little more strict with your children.” I replied, rubbing the back of my neck. “At least they might have turned into a better person—”
My words abruptly cut off as I felt a sudden change in mana.
[<Qais—!>]
“Rejection OF Time.”
A nauseous feeling hit me like a boulder as I used El’s ability once again.
Despite the pain in my body from the previous explosion, I slowed time to the tenth of its original.
‘Fuck!’
My body moved instinctively as I rushed forward.
Heather, who had been floating in the air with Ruah all around her body.
But…
Her stomach deformed inward by a shockwave.
My head snapped upwards as I looked at a man descending down at her.
His kick was precisely aimed at her stomach.
‘She will die.’
There was no question about it.
Even though Mariam was trying to protect her…
She would be late.
Rushing in, I wrapped my arms around her waist as the kick almost reached her.
‘Even with time slowed down, he is still fucking fast.’
I looked at the man as I moved Heather out of the trajectory.
His grey eyes stared into me.
The flow of time resumed—
BOOOMMM!!!
And my body was thrown away from the sheer pressure his kick had generated.
Unfolding my wings, I used them to balance myself as I landed on my feet.
“Ah, I see how you were able to save her before.”
A deep voice resonated as the dirt and debris settled down.
A man walked towards me, tall and abnormally handsome.
“It’s been a while.” He said, lips curling up in a smile. “Nephew.”
Boom!!!
The dust cleared out as a sharp branch of a tree rushed at him from behind.
The man—Jones—tilted his body, evading the attack.
“Hmm?”
But another branch almost crucified his body from behind.
“Void sphere.”
A spherical purple energy covered his entire body and a few meters around him.
Everything that was in his path was turned into nothing but dust, including the branches.
“Jones!”
Orelena’s panicked voice echoed within the place.
The man turned to look at her with his cold grey eyes.
“Mother.” He greeted while Mariam arrived in front of me.
“Himmel.” She whispered softly. “When I give you the signal, run.”
I quietly nodded as Orelena stepped closer towards her son.
“What are you doing?” She demanded, glaring at him. “How could you—”
“Ah, don’t give me your lecture, Mother.” He scoffed, like he was talking to a stranger. “I don’t need it.”
“Where is my granddaughter?” Coretta asked, while her eyes turned pure white.
Jones shrugged. “She will die, so don’t bother asking about her.”
A sword materialized in her hand.
“…I see.” She muttered, glancing at Orelena. “Are you going to help or not?”
She didn’t reply. Instead, a ripper made of pure purple energy formed in her hand.
“Himmel.”
My wings unfolded at Mariam’s soft voice.
“Run!!”
Flapping my wings twice, I soared towards the sky while holding Heather.
I bit my lips at the absurdity of the situation.
‘I need to contact the others soon.’
They might be—no, they are definitely in danger.
[<Do you know him?>]
‘Yeah, Baal’s Avatar and my uncle.’
More than that, I know him well from the game.
‘The [Main Antagonist] Of Core Two—’
[<Qais—!>]
Goosebumps rose all over my body.
I quickly twisted my body as I looked back.
‘Fuck!’
Jones was closing in at a threatening speed.
*****
The needle was laced with something.
…Poison.
And—
It rushed toward Yennefer at an alarming speed.
“Mother!”
Desperation crept in as Zenith rushed forward to save her.
Even though she wasn’t aware of what the effects of the poison would be, she didn’t want to take the risk.
But—
No matter how fast she moved, she wouldn’t be able to get anywhere close to saving her.
Her heart bled as the world kept slowing down for her.
She couldn’t even comprehend what she was experiencing right now.
‘Please, please!’
Zenith prayed desperately to save her.
‘..Huh?’
As if responding to her prayer…
A thin thread of pristine white formed in front of her, connected to the needle.
She couldn’t even noticed the world around her had turned grey as she continued to stare at the thread.
She touched the white thread by instinct.
‘Let me save my mother, please.’
Her wish came true.
The future changed.
The trajectory of the needle shifted, and Yennefer was out of its reach.
But—
‘Huh?’
Zenith wasn’t aware that changing the future comes with consequences.
The flow of time returned.
“Urgh!”
Zenith let out a low groan as she felt a stinging pain in her hand.
She looked down at it, finding the same needle embedded deep in her flesh.
“Zenith!”
Yennefer screamed as she rushed to help her.
She quickly grabbed her daughter in her arms and pulled out the needle.
“A-Are you alright?” Yennefer whispered with concern as she looked at her daughter. “D-Does it h-hurt?”
“I’m fine.” Zenith replied, as she didn’t feel any pain. “Don’t worry.”
Yennefer wasn’t buying her words.
She quickly scooped her up in a princess carry and rushed out.
“Get out of here!”
On the other hand, King Arthenis of Davana yelled.
His voice snapped Khokan out of his stride.
He turned to look at Arthenis just as his brother arrived beside him.
Slowly, more and more people began rushing to Arthenis’s side.
But what the twins were staring at was the King of the Orth Kingdom.
They both smiled.
“It’s been a while.”
Their voices were in sync.
“Father.”
—
“Zenith, are you feeling anything?”
Yennefer placed her daughter gently inside a bedroom.
“I said I’m fine…”
Zenith’s words died down as she felt something trickling from her nose.
Yennefer froze in place.
Zenith touched the blood that had trickled down.
“…Mothe—”
Her words were cut off as blood began leaking from all her pores.
