Chapter 379: [Wedding By Blood] [31] [Avatar]
‘You are still alive, sister?’
Khokan thought as he fully turned to look at her.
Long blue hair flowed down her back, the way Khokan remembered.
But her eyes….
Those aquamarine eyes had lost the innocence and joyfulness they used to have.
She looked like an empty shell of her previous self.
‘That man didn’t spare you as well.’
His eyes, once filled with rage, now shimmered with something else—bitterness.
Grief.
Ledger once again rushed at Khokan from the side.
Using his claw extended, turning into five long reaper-like blades.
He stepped aside just as Ledger’s clawed strike sliced through the air where his neck had been.
“I hate you pesky Vampires,” Khokan muttered.
Twisting around, he caught Ledger’s wrist mid-swing—his other hand slamming into his ribs with enough force to crack them.
“Brughh!!!”
Ledger coughed a mouthful of blood and before he could move—.
BOOM!!!
Khokan threw his body, crashing him on the wall.
The wall behind Ledger exploded into a rain of stone and dust, his body slumping down into the rubble.
Khokan didn’t give him a second glance.
Instead, he turned to look at his sister.
Slowly he walked towards her.
Viserra stared blankly at the man who walked towards her.
‘What happened to her?’
Even though Khokan knew she was married to the Asura Highbloods, he wasn’t aware of her exact condition.
Was it perhaps the pain of losing her lover?
She felt like a dying person.
Khokan finally stopped in front of her.
“Do you remember me?” he asked, keeping his emotions in check.
Viserra just stared at the man without replying.

“It must be painful.”
He whispered softly, trying to touch her face but stopped midway.
Slowly, he moved his hand lower.
Until…
They were wrapped around her neck.
Clenching on her throat, he slowly rose her up from her chair.
Viserra didn’t even try to stop him, she just blankly stared at the man.
‘….Are you even alive, sister?’
Khokan felt like he was choking a ghost.
He remembered how she used to run after him when they were taken away.
How she used to fight with everyone for them.
Even when she was younger, she tried to shield them from harm.
‘..It’s truly a pity.’
In the last act of mercy, he decided to give her a quick death.
“I will take care of those who made you like this.”
Khokan whispered, tightening his grip.
“Farewell, sister.”
Just when he was about to snap her neck—.
“Liraz!”
A voice echoed within the place.
Khokan barely had time to adjust as blue flames engulfed his entire body.
From head to toe he was burning.
He gritted his teeth, stumbling back as he released Viserra, who fell to the ground, coughing.
The pain was intense, more potent than any flame he’d faced before.
It wasn’t normal fire.
A girl rushed towards Viserra from a broken pillar.
“Mother!”
Epione quickly tried to get a hold of Viserra.
Grabbing onto her frame, she tried to move her away.
But…
“Is this a phoenix flame?”
Khokan’s voice interrupted before she could take a step forward.
“How do you have them, niece?”
Epione’s senses couldn’t register why she was falling back.
Before—.
BOOOM!!!
Her body was slammed on the nearby broken pillar.
“Argh! Cough! Cough!”
A violent cough echoed within the place while Khokan lowered his leg.
The skin around his shoulders had already started to regenerate.
He walked towards her before grabbing her from the throat.
“Why are you trying to save her?”
Khokan asked, looking back at his sister.
“Can’t you see? She is already dead from the inside!”
Viserra crawled towards him.
For the first time there was panic in her eyes as he choked her daughter.
“Don’t you understand?”
Khokan whispered, ignoring her face which was turning blue.
“You are the reason for her pain. For her suffering—.”
His words halted abruptly as he felt someone grabbing onto his leg.
Looking down, he stared at his sister, glaring at him.
In the years Epione lived, for the first time, she heard her mother’s strained broken voice.
“…Don’t hurt her.”
“….”
Khokan’s grip loosened ever so slightly.
But….
“I am sorry sister, I swear in the name of Goddess Anant. I won’t let anyone alive.”
Viserra’s heart sank as tears started blurring her view.
“But. I will let her live just a little longer.”
Khokan dropped the now unconscious girl on the ground as he turned around.
Viserra quickly crawled towards her daughter, cursing her inability to walk.
“Search the entire palace!!”
Khokan’s voice boomed within the place as he stared at the tall statue.
“Take everyone out and kill whoever resists!!”
In that moment.
Khokan decided to sacrifice all of them to her.

“Z-Zenith?”
Himmel’s trembling voice echoed within the room.
Yennefer, who had been scrambling things all around the place, quickly turned to look at him.
“Himmel!?”
She yelled as she quickly rushed toward him.
“Help me, help me take care of her!”
She didn’t even listen to his words as she dragged him inside the room.
“W-what happened to her?”
Himmel asked, trying to get his emotions in check.
“How is she like this?”
He quickly moved to keep her in place as she kept on writhing in pain.
Elijah also walked inside the room while holding Heather in his arms.
His heart sank as he took in Zenith’s condition.
She was clearly bleeding from her entire body.
Her eyes, nose poured out so much blood that it soaked her hair and the bed below.
“S-someone tried to poison me, but she came in between, saving me.”
Yennefer informed as she cut her finger to let blood sweep through.
“That stupid girl tried to protect me.”
She quickly sat down and started making a ritual circle onto the floor.
[<Supply her with life energy, quick.>]
Inna’s serious voice echoed in his head as he too noticed the drop.
His hand glowed in a cluster of green as he placed it over her chest.
“What type of poison is this?”
He asked, turning to look at Yennefer.
“A poison made of Hemorrhage Bloom.”
Yennefer replied, making quick drawings on the floor.
“It froze the blood into a flower that starts to make blood move out.”
‘…Inna, do you know about it?’
[<Yes. It’s a potent poison to keep those in Eternal rank from using their abilities.>]
‘Any idea on how to cure it?’
Himmel asked, his desperation creeping into his voice as Zenith started to lose even more blood.
[<Right now, it’s impossible.>]
‘…No, there has to be a way!’
His heart shuddered as he couldn’t bring himself to accept it.
“That stupid child!!!”
Yennefer yelled as she slammed her blood-soaked hand on the floor.
“It wouldn’t have done much damage to me! Why did she try to save me??”
Himmel stared down at her pale, blood-drenched face.
Her ember eyes—usually so full of light—were now dull, flickering, as if trying to stay open just for him.
He took in deep breaths to keep himself calm.
Even though his body felt like shit, he tried to keep himself rational.
“What are you doing?” he asked, looking back at her.
“Trying to make a death pact ritual.”
Yennefer replied as she scrambled on the ground hastily.
“If I give away most of my life, then I can most probably—Argh! Fuck!!”
Her hand slipped between her words, making a wrong circle.
Even though a small mistake, it was enough to make the entire thing useless.
Himmel got a little bit of hope, knowing she had a cure.
“How much time do you need?”
He asked as she started to work once again.
Yennefer bit her lips till blood dripped out.
“Ten minutes.”
She mumbled, clearly unsure.
“Maybe twenty.”
Just when Himmel tried to breathe a sigh—
[<She won’t live that long.>]
Inna’s soft voice took it away.
‘What do you mean!?’
[<It won’t take her five minutes to succumb to the poison.>]
‘….’
Himmel’s breath hitched in his throat.
He looked down again at Zenith, her body trembling, her blood pooling like a dark sea beneath her.
Elijah, who had remained unmoving, noticed something outside.
Placing Heather on a sofa, he moved out.
“Yennefer.”
Himmel whispered, making her halt just for a second.
“She won’t live that long.”
Yennefer remained stunned for a moment.
Zenith’s body trembled violently while Himmel squeezed her hand.
A soft sob echoed within the room.
He slowly turned back to look at Yennefer breaking down.
“I… know.”
Her voice echoed in her sobbing.
“W-what s-should I do?”
Her forehead touched the floor as she sobbed even harder.
“I-I can’t save her.”
Her voice cracked, broken and lost.
“E-even after all this… I can’t.”
“…”
Himmel drew in a deep breath.
[<It won’t be easy, Qais.>]
‘….’
Reaching out his hand, he tapped on the opposite side of his palm.
[<You might lose your own life.>]
A sudden rush of life energy filled the entire room.
Yennefer raised her head slowly, trying to find the source.
She finally took in the sight of an orb floating over the body of her daughter.
“H-Himmel?”
Yennefer called him, trembling.
‘You know how to use it, don’t you?’
[<…..>]
‘Please Inna, help me.’
[<Call that girl closer.>]
“I need your help.”
Himmel said firmly as he looked back at Yennefer.
She quickly rushed toward him, almost falling in the process.
[<Tell her to grab the girl.>]
Himmel told her, and Yennefer immediately grabbed Zenith’s body.
[<Open the orb.>]
Himmel took in a deep breath as he reached out to grab the orb.
But…
The next instant, someone slammed onto the door.
Himmel looked back, finding Elijah covered in blood while holding his sword.
“….”
It only took him a glance to understand the whole thing.
His eyes met with Himmel’s while his lips moved.
“Take care of Heather.”
Saying so, he closed the door and locked it from the outside.
[<Control the flow of life energy from the orb and let it slowly sweep into Zenith’s body.>]
Himmel snapped back to his work as he took in a deep breath.
Since childhood, he had been using Ruah and life energy.
The hundreds of times he had already done it, he guided the life energy inside her body.
Zenith’s body began to slowly start to heal, but it only slowed her inevitable death.
[<Think of the oath before time.>]
‘What is even the oath!?’
[<Something that you promise to do for her. Anything will work.>]
‘Anything?’
[<….Any promise that will be equivalent to her life…>]
‘…’
Himmel slowly looked back at Zenith.
—
A diagonal slash cut down two of the members in one strike.
“Huff… Huff…”
Elijah drew in a deep breath as he walked down the hallway.
Behind him were tens of dead bodies spread across the place.
“How many are they?”
He groaned, taking another step forward.
Their number kept on increasing with his every step.
He wiped the sweat from his brow, only to smear more blood across his cheek.
Just when he heard a commotion, he hid behind one of the pillars.
A few men wearing soldier armor were guiding nobles out of the place.
Elijah started to follow behind them.
They led him back to where it all began.
At the site where the wedding was supposed to take place.
Hiding behind one of the pillars,
He peeked out, noticing a lot of nobles tied beside the legs of the goddess statue.
An Asura man sat on the lap of the statue as he looked down at everyone.
‘He is strong.’
Elijah thought, staring at Khokan, who remained still.
But what made his heart beat faster was the sheer number of people all around him.
‘Three hundred, almost four.’
There was no way out of this place.
And Elijah was now well aware of it.
‘…I need to do something.’
He opened his palm as he stared at the marking in the center.
‘…I need to buy Himmel enough time.’
He drew in a deep breath.
Slowly, he walked out of his hiding place.
Khokan noticed him almost instantly.
“Elijah!?”
And so did Heather’s mother.
“Who might you be?”
Khokan asked, tilting his head.
Elijah barely made his heart calm down.
“Give me your strength.”
His body changed.
“Elyon.”
