Chapter 385: [Wedding By Blood] [37] [Aftermath]
“Get down, uncle,” I said. “My neck hurts.”

Jones’ expression immediately turned colder as he looked down at me.

I gave a quick glance around me; the place was already a mess with a lot of things broken.

‘Urgh, whatever.’

I sighed, looking back at Elijah.

“Get back.”

He quickly turned to look at me as an enormous barrier made of mana started forming between us.

“H-Himmel! Hey!”

Ignoring the boy, I started to walk towards the fallen still floating in the sky.

“Can we talk?” I asked, looking at him.

Finally, Jones let his wings slowly lower himself until he gently landed on the ground.

His grey eyes never leaving me.

I made two chairs of mana for both of us to sit.

“Please,” I said, groaning a little while I took my seat.

His smile slowly returned as he took his seat as well.

“What do you want to talk about?” he asked, looking at me. “Surely it should be important, right?”

“Of course.” I leaned back into the chair. “I want to know why.”

He tilted his head, that same smile at the edges of his lips. “Why what, dear nephew?”

“Why did you kill grandfather?” I asked, staring into his eyes.

The smile dropped just for a second, and his fingers twitched on the armrest of his chair.

I caught it.

“You think it was so simple?” Jones asked, voice low. “That I chose to?”

“…”

He isn’t going to answer that.

Well, not like I was interested in knowing, but it was one of the things that was never explained in the game.

Even though his death was a trigger for both him and Esmeray.

“Where is Killian and Avril?” I asked, leaning forward.

“They are safe,” he replied. “Can we cut to the chase now?”

I nodded as I rubbed my palms on my thighs.

“Right,” I said, looking at him. “You want the primordial god’s weapon, don’t you?”

Jones’ smile twitched again, but this time he didn’t bother to hide it.

“So you know.” He leaned back into his chair, a hand lazily brushing the dust off his hair.

“I suppose there’s no point pretending in front of you anymore, is there?”

“Let’s make a deal,” I said, keeping my emotions in check. “I will give you the weapon, and you will give me something good in return.”

He tilted his head in confusion.

“What makes you think you can make that decision?” he chuckled. “I can take it just by killing you.”

“And you think my mother will let that slide?” I asked, smiling at him.

Jones is one of the beings that was well aware about Esmeray’s obsession with me.

And—.

He is also well aware how terrifying that woman is.

Sure enough, his expression changed as he glared at me.

“Don’t even think about torturing me.” I shrugged, clearly aware what he was thinking. “I would break the weapon before you even touch me.”

He scoffed. “That’s not possible.”

“I killed the immortal twins while still a low Overlord rank,” I replied, keeping my smile. “Do you really want to take chances with me?”

A vein twitched on his temple.

He hated this.

Hated that the child he once sneered at was now bargaining with him as an equal—or worse, an authority.

“What do you want?” Jones finally asked, voice strained.

I spread my arms lazily. “Offer me something.”

He thought for a moment before speaking. “How about Avril and Killian—.”

“No,” I replied, shaking my head. “Kill them for all I care.”

[<Qais!>]

‘Don’t worry. I won’t kill them.’

One thing I know about the vessel is that they had to create a connection with the mortal world.

Something they can return to… that helps them in their awakening.

‘…It’s a psychological thing.’

They force themselves to think about them as a way to keep themselves sane.

And that’s the reason why they try to kill the one they love during the awakening.

…No matter how fake or twisted their emotions may be, it works for them.

Like how for him that connection is his children.

For Shyamal, it’s me.

And….for Esmeray—.

[<It’s you as well.>]

‘…..’

Jones sat silently for a long while, his eyes never leaving me.

Finally, he spoke. “Then what about this?”

He moved his hand, and three figures appeared in front of me.

“Mariam?”

I whispered as the woman’s golden eyes met mine.

“W-what’s going on here!?”

She stammered, confusion flickered in her eyes as she looked at both of us.

Coretta tried to move, but her body didn’t budge.

While Orelena remained glued to a dead body in her hand.

‘Tch.’

I was wondering where they all vanished.

“Give me the weapon, and I won’t kill them,” Jones said, folding his hand. “Is that enough to make the deal?”

“….. ”

I leaned back on the chair as I stared at them.

Finally, I whispered. “No.”

“What!?” Coretta yelled, glaring at me. “What are you doing, brat! Just make the deal!!”

I turned to look at her.

“Uncle.”

“Yeah?”

I turned to look at him.

“Do me a favor,” I said, pointing at Coretta. “And kill this blind bitch.”

Even he was taken aback from my request.

“W-wait, what are you saying?”

Coretta stammered, gone was her attitude and only fear remained in her eyes.

Jones smiled, looking at me. “Well, don’t mind if I do.”

His hand moved, and a blade of pure void energy formed.

Jones’ hand blurred as he moved to behead Coretta.

Just when it touched her neck—

“Stop!”

My voice rang, making him halt.

“I changed my mind,” I said, leaning back on the chair. “Let her live for now.”

Jones shrugged as his void sword turned into nothingness.

My eyes remained on Coretta, who kept on glaring at me.

Her cheeks flushed red in anger while her breath turned ragged.

“I took pity on you, miss demigod,” I said, not hiding the mockery in my tone. “Hopefully you will remember my generosity.”

I looked back at Jones, who kept on staring at me.

“Mind making a soundproof around us?”

His glare intensified.

“Pretty please.”

With a tired sigh, he made a void sphere around us.

“Alright, here is the deal. I want them,” taking in a deep breath, I continued, “….and I want you to come to my aid once. Whenever I call you.”

Jones let out a chuckle. “And how are you going to make sure I come—?”

“I don’t care about that,” I replied, keeping my voice calm. “All I want is you say that in front of them.”

“…”

Jones stared at me without a word, then… he smiled.

“Alright.”

The sphere that covered our sound vanished as he stood up.

“Here is the deal.”

He said, and the three demigods tensed up.

“The lives of these three, and I will come to your aid once, no matter the condition or opponent you face.”

I rubbed my neck as I stood up as well.

“Deal.”

He extended his hand, staring at me.

“Uh, I threw away the weapon.”

Taking out a tracking device, I passed it to him.

“Here, it will lead you there.”

“….”

Jones glared at me as he looked at the device and then at me.

“You better not be lying.”

BOOM!!!!

He launched himself into the air, spreading dust and debris all over the place.

“What the hell?”

I groaned, clearing my face.

Fucking bitch.

“H-Himmel.”

Mariam’s concerned voice made me look at her.

All three of them started to move when Jones moved away.

“What happened here?” she asked, looking around.

“Well,”

I said, rubbing my cheek.

“A lot happened.”

****

“Urghh!”

A sudden pain in her head made Zenith snap out of her sleep.

She groggily looked around, trying to adjust to the light.

“You are awake.”

A voice made her look to her side, where she found a girl.

“Siersha?”

Zenith mumbled, trying to get up.

“Careful.”

Siersha moved closer, helping her to sit straight on her bed.

“Yennefer had some work, so I took over.”

“Uh, what happened?”

Zenith asked, looking at the black-haired girl.

“Well, you got poisoned and crazy things happened.”

Siersha replied, looking at her with a smile.

“And now people are calling Himmel a miracle child.”

“Huh?” Zenith’s brows knitted together. “A what?”

“Can you walk?” Siersha asked, looking at her.

“I think so.”

“Come with me then.”

Siersha helped Zenith get on her feet as she helped her move.

The moment they walked out of the place, Zenith’s heart shattered.

Tens of people were getting moved around the place.

Some lightly, while others heavily injured.

“W-what happened?”

Zenith asked, pulling her away from the crowd.

“The kingdom was attacked by the immortal twins.”

Siersha said, and Zenith nodded as she remembered that much.

“Well, Himmel killed them.”

“Uh-huh.”

Zenith nodded her head in response.

“You don’t seem surprised,” Siersha asked, noticing her mild reaction.

“I mean, it’s Himmel,” Zenith replied, her voice annoyed. “I would be more surprised if he didn’t insult any new girl he meets.”

“…..That’s quite the judgment.”

Siersha mumbled, leading her towards the balcony.

“What about the others?” Zenith hastily asked, looking at her. “Are they safe?”

“They’re safe,” Siersha reassured her with a soft smile. “Well… mostly.”

“Elaborate.” Zenith said, looking at her.

“…Aimar is badly hurt,” Siersha replied, looking at her. “…Heather as well, but they are out of danger. There is also Killian, Avril, and Cecily who were found unconscious.”

Zenith nodded her head in response as they reached the balcony.

The sight that greeted Zenith made her freeze.

Parts of the palace walls were cracked and crumbled, streets torn apart as if by a giant’s hand, smoke rising from distant corners.

But at the heart of it all, amidst soldiers, civilians, nobles, and priests bustling to repair the chaos, was a single name that echoed again and again from the lips of the people.

“Himmel.”

“The miracle child…”

“He defeated them alone…”

“He saved us…!”

Zenith couldn’t help but chuckle as she saw paintings of Himmel on the walls.

Subconsciously, her hand moved to her abdomen as she gently touched it.

The memories that she saw with Avilea came crashing into her mind.

“You alright?” Siersha asked, tilting her head. “Your cheeks are getting red—.”

“I-I am fine,” she stammered, moving back inside. “Where is Himmel?”

“He should be… there!”

Siersha pointed at the boy who walked in the garden of the hospital.

He wasn’t alone; Sir Mortis was with him, talking about something.

Himmel’s gaze wandered towards them.

Zenith flinched, but he smiled looking at her.

Quickly saying his goodbye to Sir Mortis, he moved towards them.

“….Is he coming here?” Zenith asked, looking at Siersha.

“It seems so,” she replied, looking at the boy. “He was worried about—hm?”

Siersha’s words abruptly halted; Zenith followed her gaze.

Down at the garden, Himmel almost collided with an elf.

They awkwardly tried to move out of each other’s path but kept on blocking.

Himmel stopped and let Nymeria walk away.

“What’s with them?” Zenith mumbled.

Her keen eyes noticed how Nymeria’s ears twitched in front of him.

‘….’

Her mind wandered back to her vision as she tried to remember if Avilea ever mentioned an elf mother.

“That’s not important,” she whispered, turning around. “I need to talk with him.”

Just as she moved inside, her gaze landed on a nurse who walked past them.

“Huh?”

Oddly enough, she looked like the lady who poisoned her.

But before she could catch up to her—

“Shorty!”

Himmel’s voice made her halt.
