Chapter 397: [Terror of the Dead God] [5] [A life with her]
“Seven.”
Her words made my mind numb.
“I have met you in seven different lifetimes.”
I froze in place, her words crashing down on me like waves.
“Qais—.”
I raised my hand, stopping her in place.
Rubbing my face that had grown colder, I tried to compose myself.
Alright, no need to freak out.
It’s just seven lives.
Let’s just think as if I die and reincarnate like every other person.
‘….’
If I put it that way then I guess it’s not that bad.
Well, guess I am just a normal guy.
Taking in a deep breath, I smiled towards Inna.
“Wow.” I exhaled softly. “That’s a lot more than I expected.”
Inna blinked at me, clearly surprised by my calm reaction.
“You’re… not mad?” she asked cautiously.
I shook my head. “No. Just… processing.”
She tilted her head, watching me closely. “You’re taking it… surprisingly well.”
I chuckled, rubbing the back of my neck. “I mean, sure, it’s a bit insane. But at this point, what hasn’t been insane?”
[<That’s fair.>]
‘Exactly.’
Stop talking in my head.
Anyway, there are a few things that I want to know from her.
“Let’s start with the most important question.” I said, staring dead into her eyes. “How many times have I dated you?”
Inna blinked like she had heard something absurd.
“Really?” she asked, frowning. “That’s your most important question.”
“I have my priorities, okay.” I replied, walking closer towards her. “Don’t judge me.”
She chuckled softly, shaking her head.
“…Well?” I pressed further, looking at her.

“Ahem. Don’t you dare laugh.” she replied with a fake cough. “…None. I never dated you.”
“…”
That’s unexpected.
How did I fumble so hard?
It was fucking seven times that she was with me.
Inna looked away, scratching her cheek awkwardly. “It’s not that I didn’t want to… I just… couldn’t.”
“…I see.”
I mumbled, nodding my head walking with her.
Now that I think about it—.
“Wait! Wait!” I quickly turned towards her as something dawned upon me. “Are you still a virgin!?”
As if I touched a nerve that I shouldn’t have, Inna coldly glared at me.
“What do you know.” she scoffed, slapping my arm once again. “Stop making assumptions.”
I started unbuttoning my overcoat. “Well, only one way to find out.”
“Ew. Creep pervert.”
She chuckled, playfully throwing hands at me.
“…”
Yeah.
Let’s not push my luck here.
“Anyway, mind telling me about my seven lives?” I asked, finding a vendor selling ice cream.
“What do you wanna know?” she questioned back while I ordered ice cream for both of us.
“Anything that you want to tell.” I replied, looking at her.
“Hmm. I was close to you only in two lifetimes.” she said, looking at me. “In your first life and in the one where I reincarnated in Lumina once again.”
“…”
That took me by surprise.
She reincarnated in Lumina just for me.
[<No. There was another reason for it.>]
‘And what might that be?’
[<Creator’s Will.>]
‘Hmm?’
Taking the ice cream I passed one to her as we both started to walk again.
“What about it?” I asked. “No, what does that even mean?”
“It’s something that makes you eligible to inherit the role of creator god.” she replied, earning my interest.
“In the epoch of rebirth a lot of gods reincarnated to steal it.”
That’s new.
And now I know why that epoch is named rebirth.
But why did she reincarnate?
‘She doesn’t seem like someone who would want power.’
I thought, glancing at Inna who was making a mess of her face eating the ice cream.
….Yeah. Definitely not hungry for power.
‘I guess, she didn’t want it to be in the wrong hands.’
“So, who got the Creator’s Will?” I asked, cleaning her face with my hand.
“Uh, no one.” she replied, slapping my hand away. “The whole thing was a trap.”
“Hm, trap?”
Her eyes met mine. “A trap to kill as many gods as possible.”
“…And who set the trap?” I asked, my voice barely audible.
“Primordial Gods.” she replied, staring into my eyes. “They created a guy so powerful that none of the reincarnations of God could win against him.”
“….”
I stared at her, ice cream halfway to my mouth.
I didn’t know what to say. Even for this world, it felt… wrong.
“So this guy… what happened to him?”
Inna’s expression turned stoic. “He won. Wiped out almost every reincarnated god. Tore through entire kingdoms.”
“And the Creator’s Will?”
“Still unclaimed.” she paused. “Or… maybe it found someone. Someone who didn’t know what they were yet.”
Her eyes locked onto mine.
I narrowed my eyes. “You’re being cryptic.”
She smiled. “And you’re catching on.”
‘No. No way. That’s crazy even for me.’
Still… just to confirm that I’m delusional, I looked back at her.
“…Who is this guy?” I asked, looking at her. “It’s not—.”
“Qaisel.” Inna confirmed my doubts. “Or should I say… Qais.”
“….”
I slowly brought my ice cream close to my face.
…Maybe I shouldn’t have asked about all this.
‘So you’re telling me I was made by a bunch of ancient lunatics who wanted to rig godhood like a gamble… and it backfired?’
[<Apparently>]
‘…Cool.’
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” I asked after a moment. “About Qais. About who I used to be.”
Inna’s gaze drifted away. “Because I didn’t want to look at you like him.”
Her words hit harder than I expected.
She wasn’t just being cautious. She was afraid.
“Am I?” I asked.
She blinked at me.
“Am I still him?”
A long silence passed.
“No,” she whispered. “You’re worse.”
Then, seeing the look on my face, she giggled.
“But also better. You’ve got a choice this time.”
Well, for some reason that felt good to hear.
“What about my other lives?” I asked, taking a bite of my tasteless ice cream. “Why weren’t you close with me then?”
“…Your soul was incomplete.” she replied, shaking her head. “And things were a bit messy.”
“How so?”
“Well, you were once your own grandson.” she replied, chuckling. “I just looked after you from above.”
“…I see.”
Even though she didn’t say the name.
I knew who those were.
‘…The first Child Of Mana was me?’
I might be a lot more important than I thought.
Letting out another sigh, I sat down on a nearby bench.
Inna also took her seat beside me.
[<Want to have a bite.>]
She said, pushing her ice cream towards me.
I moved my head closer, taking in a bite, only to freeze in place.
“What happened?” Inna asked, blinking innocently.
“…I can taste it.” I replied, leaning back on my bench. “…From your hand.”
Well, that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
It would be more concerning if I can taste food from Siersha’s hand and can’t from hers.
Inna frowned. “Wait, didn’t you taste the coffee before?”
“Oh, that.” I chuckled. “I did that to be on Helena’s good side.”
Inna narrowed her eyes. “When did you become so clever?”
“That’s offensive.” I grumbled, eating my ice cream. “By the way, have I met El before as well?”
“Yeah.” she replied, looking at me. “In your first life.”
Again.
Who was I in my first life?
‘I guess, she isn’t going to tell me anytime soon.’
[<No.>]
‘Thought so.’
“Were you and El friends?” I asked, looking at her curiously.
“Not really.” she replied, shaking her head. “I was more like a mother figure for him.”
“….That’s surprising.” I mumbled, rubbing my back.
I shouldn’t say this but damn she is—.
[<Want me to slap you?>]
‘…Would you, if I say yes?’
[<No. Pervert.>]
How rude.
“I met El when he was a child.” Inna said, glancing at me. “And just after a few years, he became a god.”
“Hmm?”
“Don’t you know?” she asked, chuckling softly. “El is the youngest to reach Godhood. If we exclude the primordial beings.”
“….”
Wow.
I knew El was a big shot but this much?
Inna’s gaze shifted toward somewhere.
She smiled. “Looks like she has gotten to work.”
I followed her gaze, finding Helena giving an interview on a big screen.
‘…’
Even with her veil on, she was sobbing softly as she talked about the children.
Crazy bitch.
I bet she’s thrilled from the inside.
“Want to know something else?” Inna said, making me look back at her.
I smiled gently, grabbing her hand.
“Thank you.”
I said, squeezing her hand.
“For being with me.”
She smiled back.
“You don’t need to thank me,” she whispered. “I always come back to you.”

After the news of what the Michael family did, a greater chaos took over.
It wasn’t just any random accusation but something that the future Holy Lady stood behind.
And with Helena’s help it wasn’t hard to find evidence.
The man who tampered with the realm gave his statement after a little “talk” with Helena.
It was a huge blow to the reputation of the family and the church.
But the most opposition was from the Uriel and Raguel families.
Who are hell-bent on punishing the Heir of the Michael family.
And who got the credit for all this?
Me.
‘All in all, it worked in my favour.’
I thought as I walked on the white marble of a palace where pillars twisted toward a ceiling etched with constellations that moved of their own accord.
No matter how I see it, this thing was beautiful.
Helena walked ahead of us, her veil drawn low, every step was light and graceful.
Behind me, Elijah walked stiffly in his formal uniform, his red hair combed back.
“Are you nervous?” I asked, looking at Elijah.
“A little bit.” he replied, chuckling nervously. “What about you?”
“I feel good.” I replied, placing my hand in my pockets. “Just a reminder, archangels serve under the gods whose Avatar we are.”
So, there isn’t any need for us to be afraid.
Helena stopped before a massive gate adorned with angelic statues.
“This is it,” she said softly. “All archangel bloodline representatives are present. And they’re not… exactly pleased.”
I shrugged. “Yeah, I know that much.”
Elijah swallowed hard.
“Don’t worry,” Helena added, glancing at him. “Just stay silent and stand straight. Let Himmel do the talking.”
I slapped his back, whispering. “Be ready for a fight.”
“Huh?”
The gate opened.
A radiant light poured through, not blinding but weighty.
We stepped into a vast domed hall…that was supposed to have the family members of the archangels.
“Where are all of them?”
Helena frowned, looking around the place in confusion.
While I kept my gaze up on a being who floated in the sky.
He was a tall, abnormally handsome man with long blonde hair and a calm smile on his face.
I smiled, looking at him.
Even though I was doubtful before, he acted just as I expected.
“Welcome, sir miracle child,” he said, smiling brightly. “I’m Lious, Heir of the Michael family.”
A blinding spear formed in his hand.
“And I am going to kill you here.”
