Chapter 719: Novice Chapter 719: Novice Half an hour quickly went by since Xu Feng attempted to craft the component, Crystalized Mana Shard.  Although the initial phase was tedious and his luck proved to be absolute trash, it couldn’t nullify the Mastery Level experience.

Even with failures, experience regarding the Mastery could still be earned.  “A total of 3,150 Raw Mana Essence wasted.” Xu Feng felt a heartache when these materials quickly disappeared.

It took many hours and days to gather them, and he managed to blow them off in just half an hour.  Indeed, he was not the type to gamble or a gambler.

Because only those who win and lose could be considered a gambler- not someone who always loses.  A person who always lost was called trash beyond redemption.

At least a gambler still had days that they won, but trash beyond redemption could never win.

“Damn it, this is why I quit trying to level up my Profession.” He clicked his tongue.  He would never attempt to improve his level by wasting precious resources.

If he had to waste them, then it definitely must be something worth the time and effort.

As he thought about his plight, he decided to take a glimpse at Crimson Heart’s progress.

Without a doubt, she had failed to inscribe the glyph once again.  ‘Hehe, it seems like misery loves company.’ Xu Feng nearly chuckled at her repeated failure.  However, he suddenly paused for a second when he realized something.

“Wait, the materials she is using are taken from the guild.

And the guild’s resources are taken from… me.” Instantly, Xu Feng’s slight smile returned to depression.  What misery loves company?

The only miserable person here was him.  How dare he enjoy and attempt to laugh at Crimson Heart’s failure when the failure comes from his pocket?  “I shouldn’t have sent Carmen away.” Feeling extreme regret, Xu Feng missed her presence which lightened up the atmosphere and improved the luck by a lot.

Even without the Vanguard Guild’s resources, Carmen still managed to achieve some rare items herself simply by walking around.

Truly, one could never beat a lucky player without putting in 10 times the effort and work.  Sometime later, Xu Feng began working on the Compressed Energy Core.  He switched the equipment feature to Stabilization mode and placed the elemental cores.

Once that was done, he carefully combined the void essence crystals with the elemental cores.

The combination was a smooth process, given that the real obstacle was the compression process.

He retrieved a Compression Device and prepared to condense the combined materials into a single, ultra-dense core.  Unfortunately, less than 5 seconds later, an explosion occurred.

The compression was a fail, and thankfully, Xu Feng had an active barrier to prevent his face from being covered in black smoke.  “Ugh, the compression wasn’t precise.” Xu Feng sighed and read the system prompt of the failure reason.

The compression measurement was off by 3 millimeters.

Thus, another 15 minutes went by until Xu Feng grasped the required measurement and was at its final stage: stabilization.  Within a certain time frame, he needed to apply the Core Stabilizer to prevent implosion and ensure safe usage.

If this final step was not completed, then the core was just a time bomb.  Luckily, it was as if his luck returned or something, Xu Feng managed to succeed in the stabilization and the Compressed Energy Core began to illuminate and emit a strong presence.  “Wow, I thought it would have imploded.” Suddenly, from behind him, he heard a voice commenting on his craft.

A bit alarmed, Xu Feng turned around and raised an eyebrow.

“Are you done with your part?”  “Mhmm, I’ve just left the work to Razor and Brutus.

I merely gave my two-piece comment and watched on the sideline.” Indeed, the person who alarmed him was none other than Carmen, who had decided to come over here to check up on the status.  “Hah, so no wonder it succeeded.” Feeling defeated, Xu Feng just knew his luck was still utter trash.  “By any chance, do you want to try-” Before Xu Feng could even complete his question, Carmen shook her head and rejected him.

“Nope, I have no interest in this Profession.

I just took a glance at Crimson Heart, and she looked like a crazy hungry zombie.” She then pointed at Crimson Heart.

“I have no intention of looking like that.”  “But that’s not for certain.” Not one to give up easily, Xu Feng quickly got up and practically dragged Carmen to take his seat.

“You see… this Profession requires heavy luck.

And for someone like you who was destined to be the greatest, this is just the right Profession for you.”  Having been put on the spot, Carmen sighed and decided to entertain him for a while.

At the very least, it meant that she escaped punishment for running away from the task assigned to her.  “Fine, but I am a complete Novice.” She shrugged.  “That’s no problem.

Let’s give this Crystalized Mana Shard a try.” Xu Feng then explained the procedure to her.  A few minutes later, he asked, “Do you understand how to craft it now?”  Nodding silently in response, Carmen first grabbed a handful of Raw Mana Essence.

She then began the purification and refinement to turn it into Pure Mana Extract.

She didn’t even bother to calculate whether she got the required amount or not.

‘Wait, that’s not even close to 50-‘ Amidst Xu Feng’s astonishment, he was greeted by the sight of a Pure Mana Extract.  “Huh?” His mouth left agape, completely stupefied as he watched Carmen repeat the process almost nonchalantly.  “Oh, what the hell?

The Guild Leader made it seem like a difficult task, but this is just too easy.” Carmen pouted, feeling deceived by Xu Feng’s explanation.

In the blink of an eye, 10 Pure Mana Extract was created.  Carmen was so bewildered by the so-called difficulty and thought the explanation was a sham.

“10 of them to be used to create one Crystalized Mana Shard?

I’ll just use 5 instead.” She snorted, unwilling to spend too much resources for one shard creation.  “Stop it!” Xu Feng cried aloud.

Alas, it was a bit too little too late.
