Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer - Chapter 853
Chapter 853: Maze
Having read the system notification, Carmen sighed in both relief and frustration.
It was a miracle that they didn’t get swarmed by monsters immediately, but not being swarmed from the start didn’t mean everything was alright.
A maze was always considered a double-edged sword.
With luck, one could easily finish the maze in the blink of an eye. However, if one had terrible luck, then they would be stuck for a long time and possibly even trapped forever.
“The Guild Leader’s luck is always terrible though.” Carmen smiled bitterly.
“What does that mean?” Xu Feng twitched his brows and wondered if that was meant as an insult.
His luck wasn’t terrible! It was average!
It only appeared terrible because Carmen herself was the one with amazing luck—so broken that many would want to curse her every time she hit something good.
Alas, the more Carmen looked at Xu Feng, the more deep her sigh became.
“…”
Fortunately, Xu Feng’s temper was usually very mild and tolerant of his own people. Otherwise, he would have begun scheming a bunch of plans to take revenge.
“Anyway, let’s get back to business.” He exhaled and returned to solemness.
Nodding, Carmen also stopped her tease and began to inspect their current position.
Just like the system had announced, they were currently in a “safe zone”, meaning there was no danger. Moreover, the timer had yet to countdown, allowing them to actually take their time to ponder.
If it were any other situation, then having that kind of opportunity would be great.
However, this was the secret dungeon, which meant being granted so much time to ponder could only indicate one thing.
The maze was beyond their scope of difficulty, and could possibly be only barely achievable in a very slim percentage.
“The safe zone illuminates briefly unlike the other platform,” Carmen commented.
“We can assume that an illuminated platform might be considered a safe zone,” she continued, having perceived that everywhere else was dim and barely visible.
Nodding in agreement, Xu Feng interjected, “For now, we can factor in that the safe zone could stop the timer from counting down.”
The lack of information and data was problematic. But that didn’t mean they were helpless and couldn’t figure anything out.
“Got it,” Carmen jotted down the note. Although messages were disabled, the System was still rather lenient to allow players a space to take notes.
Not everyone had super memory, so the System allowed players to jot whatever notes they wanted. Naturally, the notes could not be sent out as a form of message. But it could be shared in public—as in showing her prompt to another person in the vicinity.
“Besides the safe zone matter, we need to be cautious of possible monsters lurking around.” Xu Feng rubbed his chin and said calmly. Rather than worrying about running out of time, his concern was more toward the monsters they would face.
After all, like any dungeon, there were debuffs here meant to increase the difficulty of players.
Health and Mana Recovery rates were cut by half. Additionally, there was a limit to how many potions one could consume. Stats and buffing type potions had a limit of 10 whereas healing type potions had a limit of 5.
Moreover, summoned creatures would have their health halved upon being called and their attributes reduced.
With such conditions, it was obvious that the secret dungeon didn’t want the players to be hunting down monsters. They intended to make them figure out the exit of the maze.
“The last condition is a blatant target of me.” Carmen suddenly clicked her tongue and sneered. “Is this what the System calls fair and balanced? To nerf me just because I grind and level up well to be this strong?”
“Ahem, who told someone to be so broken and constantly flex their Void Portals.” Xu Feng cleared his throat and quickly kept a distance between them.

“Is this your pettiness taking over from the pep talk earlier?” Carmen responded, clearly having taken great notes from Xu Feng in learning how to rebuke others.
He faked a cough and cleverly pretended to investigate the situation further.
“Hmm, the path might be diverging or converging. We mustn’t step out of the safe zone yet.” He uttered.
‘Tsk, so pretentious.’ Carmen rolled her eyes. Nevertheless, she also knew his words were right. It was so blatantly obvious that he was shifting the conversation, but she also couldn’t deny his logic.
This was something that she always lost out on. Despite learning his glib tongue, she still couldn’t learn his speed at changing tide and retreating like a boss.
“Should I summon some of my creatures to scope out the place?” Carmen suggested. As a Summoner, even when restricted by a lot from the System, she had many different types of summoned creatures available.
Therefore, she could afford to waste a few summons to scope out the area and investigate.
However, Xu Feng shook his head in response.
“Your offensive power is greater than mine. I’m more toward the support type, so I should do it.” He explained, wanting Carmen to save her firepower.
Besides, he had a feeling that they wouldn’t be able to scout much. There was no evidence on this premise, but it was just his instinct and years of experience that told him so.
Since that was the case, it was better for him to do the first check than allow Carmen to waste her mana.
Carmen also understood the logic, so she didn’t insist on it either. She simply nodded and gestured her hand for him to begin.
Sometime later, Xu Feng summoned the Abyssal Phantom and commanded it to inspect the path that surrounded them.
The Abyssal Phantom adhered to the command and was about to float into the air to glance at the overall platform.
Unfortunately, when it ascended at a certain height, the Abyssal Phantom felt a strong restriction and was unable to continue. Its health points also began to decrease the longer he lingered around the air.
‘As expected, this maze is really not giving you a loophole.’ Xu Feng thought, and ordered the Abyssal Phantom to return.
