Chapter 854: Visit From Another Plane
Haven Wind Town
While Xu Feng had already informed Veronica in advance that he was going to be doing a dungeon with Carmen, she wasn’t expecting them to be completely out of contact.
After all, normal dungeons didn’t have much restriction as opposed to special dungeon ones.
‘Great, I can’t even send any messages.’ Veronica pursed her lips when both of their names were colored yellow.
Unlike the gray color indicated offline or the green color indicated online, the yellow color meant idle. As in they were online but couldn’t be contacted in the meantime.
Having finished giving the tour guide to Ginangelic, Veronica never expected to receive a report from Star Falls City that someone from a different plane wished to speak with their Guild Leader.
Initially, Veronica’s first thought was the person was their enemy, but then she received evidence that there was a deal between them. To further their claim, the person even provided a contract that was authorized by the Divine World System, ensuring the validity of their claim.
“Ugh, I knew being promoted this fast was never a good thing.” In the end, Veronica sighed and bitterly made her return to Star Falls City.
Only she was the Guild Captain and the current highest rank within the guild that was available.
She couldn’t contact the Honorary Elder, who was extremely elusive—granted that she remained unaware of Xu Feng being both the Honorary Elder and the Guild Leader.
As for Zhao Kai, the latter was offline.
To summarize, the guild seriously lacked people in the decision-making rank.
In the guild, members could earn their promotion through contribution, but that was only applicable up to the Elite Rank. Captain and above rank required not just contribution, but also approval from those in the above.
To say that she didn’t gain this rank through nepotism was a complete lie.
After all, her contribution when compared to many of the current Elite Members was really subpar.
However, contribution to the guild wasn’t just about completing missions. It was also about doing a crap ton of administrative work—work such as this current one.
“May I ask who you might be?” Veronica arrived at the Guild Residence and asked.
“You are?” The woman, who had remained seated by a chair, stood up and inquired.
“I am Vortex Viper, the Guild Captain of Vanguard Guild.” Veronica introduced herself.
“Ah, I’m Azalea, the Guild Captain of the sub-branch of Cyclone Guild.” The woman responded in a gentle voice.
“Sub-branch?”
It wasn’t unheard of for a guild to have numerous sub-branches. But what confused Veronica was their introduction.
If it was a sub-branch, then one would usually say their sub-branch guild name under the main guild.
Meanwhile, Azalea detected Veronica’s expression of being confused. She smiled lightly and explained, “Our Cyclone Guild is very big, so if we were to have a sub-branch, it would be too many and costly. Thus, we created sub-branches within the guild itself.”
“So like multiple teams but categorized as sub-branch and is still a part of the guild?” Veronica asked for confirmation.
“Yes, that is correct.” Azalea nodded.
Their action was actually quite common to those at the top or those who had numerous people but with different factions.
To prevent the main guild from losing any power to the faction, it was decided that all factions must remain in the same guild.
To simplify, it was a multitude of guilds under one banner.
Although she was part of the Cyclone Guild, it didn’t mean they were harmonious with everyone in it.

‘So the Cyclone Guild is just a conglomerate with many shareholders.’ Realization quickly dawned upon Veronica. She now realized that their guild was definitely filled with muddy water and internal conflicts.
After all, the Cyclone Guild was unlike their Vanguard Guild, which operated in a single chain of command. They might have teams, but these teams were still under the control of one single individual.
Naturally, there were pros and cons on both sides of operating.
The pros of operating in the Cyclone Guild style were that there were going to be constant improvement and more revenues. To have many people competing inside the guild was an encouragement to make one strive for the better to get rewards.
The cons were that it would be hard to unite everyone and might incur constant arguments among each other.
“Anyway, can we move to a quieter place to discuss?” Suddenly, Azalea suggested that they change venues. What she wanted to discuss was not something to be revealed in public.
“Ah, yes, right this way please.” Veronica snapped out of her daze and gestured for her to ascend to the higher floors for discussion.
Azalea wasn’t foolish enough either to not realize Veronica was currently the highest-ranked person in the guild whom she could converse with. She had dealt with numerous types of people within her own guild, so if she couldn’t discover that, then she would really be a disgrace.
Sometime later, they arrived at the 2nd floor and in a quiet room meant for discussion. The room was secured thoroughly to prevent any possible spying.
Although it was a Guild Residence, it was hard to say that all members of the guild were loyal and didn’t harbor any malicious intentions. Hence, such a room was needed to prevent any possible mishaps.
Azalea was cautious as well and used a few scrolls to detect if there were any eavesdropping around.
“I hope you don’t feel offended, Miss Vortex Viper.” She then apologized for her actions. Despite her intent, the action was still rather rude and impolite.
“No worries, you were just being cautious by nature.” Veronica shook her head and didn’t mind the offense.
Nevertheless, her thought was already prepared that the conversation was not going to be something simple. Otherwise, Azalea wouldn’t have been so cautious and ensured no other party could listen in.
‘Hopefully, this isn’t some tedious and nerve-wracking conversation.’ Veronica prayed silently, feeling exhausted to deal with this. She already expended quite a few of her sanity from dealing with Ginangelic.
