Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer - Chapter 872
Chapter 872: Imps
The imps holding the electric whip appeared no different than what was commonly depicted in hell.
These imps were acting like the sergeant who whipped the lower-ranked people in hell to work faster if they were to slack off.
What made it frustrating was that even a slight touch of the electric whip could cause tremors all over their body.
Xu Feng was one of the unlucky individuals who was lagging behind Carmen just in case danger were to occur in the front. Yet after passing a certain threshold upon arriving at the 5F, these imps came out from a sudden crack in the side.
Without even any warning, Xu Feng’s back was whipped and he felt like going numb from the impact.
Had it not been for Carmen’s swift reaction in dragging the chains and running with all her might, then Xu Feng might have succumbed to the unexpected variable.
Normally, Xu Feng should have been able to react in time, but they were heavily restricted to a certain attribute. He saw it coming but was unable to control his body to avoid the hit.
Now, even though he managed to regain his balance and momentum as he ran, he still felt a scorching heat from his back.
“Are you alright, Guild Leader?” Carmen asked in concern.
She maintained her pace and didn’t bother to look back. She was afraid of the System designing more bull crap obstacles ahead, so she couldn’t afford to be distracted.
“I’m alright. Just keep being on the lookout and warn in advance if there are some obstacles. We cannot take them lightly.”
“Okay, then we shall maintain the current pace.”
The only saving grace was that the imps seemed to be programmed in a specific way.
Unless they stumbled or made some mistake, the imps would only be chasing after them at a fixed distance. Once they made some mistake, the imps would gain some distance.
After two consecutive mistakes in a similar time frame, then the imps would be able to whip at them.
However, if one mistake occurred yet no more was made after a certain time frame, the distance between them would gradually return to normal.
“Up ahead is the pole jumping,” Carmen shouted aloud.
“Got it!”
A few seconds later, Carmen began leaping to the first pole without any intention of stopping. Xu Feng also managed to follow closely behind, but it was evident that the pole jumping had delayed them quite a bit.
The imps that were creeping behind them caught up and attempted to whip at Xu Feng.
Thankfully, Xu Feng managed to finish the pole jumping obstacle and dash ahead to narrowly avoid being hit.
“Carmen, don’t even bother stopping. This 5F doesn’t allow us to pause and ponder how to proceed forward.” He warned solemnly.
Maybe the System realized they were taking their sweet time on each floor which prompted it to construct such a scenario.
There was no way in hell that he would believe the 5F already involved crazy events like these imps.
Not only was it illogical, but it also rendered players unable to adapt to the situation properly.
This was a complex run that required players to never give up their will.
Sometime later, Carmen warned ahead that it was bridge jumping.
Soon, Xu Feng caught up to Carmen and the two had to time their jump simultaneously.
“I’ll call out when to jump.” Xu Feng quickly said.
Carmen remained silent, but it was considered an approval. She was hyper-focused on the path ahead and refused to hear the imp’s taunting sound from behind.

The language they used was incomprehensible, but she was certain they were either taunting or teasing them. After all, they were the “predator” in this scenario whereas they were the “prey” who had to run with all their might.
‘Just you wait, tiny imps. If I ever get my power back, then I’ll nuke you all again and again.’ She vowed silently. When had she ever faced such trouble against monsters ever since she had been promoted to her Hidden Class?
Every time, it would be her swarming the monsters, and never the other way around.
Not to mention Carmen, even Xu Feng was feeling ticked off by the imps.
Till now, his back was still feeling lingering pain, and he was certain that the System did it on purpose.
The level of Pain Tolerance here was definitely lowered than the average level outside. Otherwise, the scorching heat pain should have been nullified by now.
As he narrowed his eyes, Xu Feng noticed it was time for them to leap across.
“Jump now!” He said and kicked the ground softly.
Similarly, Carmen did the same and gave herself a boost to leap across the bridge.
However, that was merely the start. There were more upcoming bridges ahead of them, and each crack was widened by a large margin.
Second bridge… third bridge… fourth bridge… etc
After the sixth bridge, Xu Feng began to sweat a bit. The crack became very wide and he had to time the jump perfectly, otherwise, they would miss.
Shortly after, Xu Feng yelled out again, “Jump now!”
Carmen gnashed her teeth and adhered to the command. But it was evident that she was a bit off and failed to land across the platform. She was just barely a millimeter off and fell to the ground.
Alarmed, Xu Feng hurriedly grabbed the chain by his ankle to pull her up.
Yet it was precisely at this moment that the imps caught up.
They flashed a wide and nefarious grin as they madly swung their elongated, sinewy arms forward. Their electric whips crackled to life, tendrils of blue-white lightning arcing along their lengths.
With a sharp snap, the charged lashes tore through the air, leaving behind a faint afterimage of crackling energy. The imps flicked their wrists with eerie precision, sending the electrified whips streaking toward Xu Feng, aiming to coil around his limbs and jolt him with a paralyzing surge of power.
“I swear that I will burn these imps alive,” Xu Feng hissed coldly, his eyes staring at the incoming whip. Alas, he couldn’t do much because he needed to pull Carmen up.
